I don't get it. People keep saying it takes 2 or 3 years to grade a draft, yet you see people get upset minutes after a pick is made. No use to get upset now... We never saw these guys play in the pros. Seems to me there is no use in getting butthurt over a career that hasn't even started yet.

I mean do you think we are solid at Center?
I think a lot of us were expecting the next Rich Saul. I know I was

And we know what the draft is, we all understand they haven’t played yet - nobody is judging that, we are just judging the acquisition - it’s pretty simple to understand
Many of us have watched college ball and had hopes of seeing a player we liked wear horns and become a legend - when that player is passed on for some other player we don’t think is as good, we tend to react.
Plus it’s fun.
And many if us have had a few beers or puffs - it’s all fun and games

Would have loved to come out of today with a couple of sure thing starters from day one. I love the talent, but we got complementary pieces (for this year at least).

Akers is part of a committee with Henderson and Brown (although hopefully getting the lion's share of the carries)

Jefferson is a good player, but is likely our third or more likely our fourth receiver.

Lewis starts at situational pass rusher, at least until he can prove he's healthy.

Burgess is really good, but plays as third safety or nickel for this year.

Four talented players, but no sure thing starters on a team that needed a few. If they could somehow add Biadasz and Dye tomorrow, I'll be thrilled. But think it's a stretch to get one, let alone both.

You literally just described 4 contributors as rookies.

Overall it was a pretty decent day.
Akers and Jefferson are solid players who should produce right away.
Lewis and Burgess are both real good prospects that could have been picked a lot earlier in
the draft. They both have high upsides and fit our needs. Lewis can be a situational pass rusher
in the first year and Burgess should see a lot of action at slot corner and FS.
I would have liked it a lot better had they traded down a little and picked up another pick before
they drafted Jefferson. But you never know, maybe they couldn't find a trade partner or another team
showed a lot of interest in Jefferson and they didn't want to have another Wagner moment.

By the numbers: Burgess lined up all over the place in 2019. According to PFF, he logged time at box safety (285 snaps ), slot corner (272), free safety (133), on the line of scrimmage (67) and as a wide corner (26), as well as on all four special-teams units.

Slot was mentioned multiple times.

They might not be sold on him i remember last year hearing he was having a lot of trouble
If they aren’t sold on him I don’t know what can convince the Rams coaching staff.

Coming out of college

Had some on his skills last season but my PFF membership has ceased apparently. Guy is going to do nothing but get better this year.

If he’s otherwise of Ramsey he will get a ton of balls and I’m excited about that. Guy does not allow completions as a pro or college player.

Nobody on this site or fans in general know what we have. Nobody talks about him. Long Jr. Is going to be special!

Undervalued and unappreciated but he puts out.

Well we added some quality talent today but i think this team is getting softer on both sides of the ball. Started with the departure of Saffold and just seems to be trending more and more in that direction.
Finesse teams win big games too, i'm just not a fan of finesse ball. The Rams didn't add much speed either. Looked like just a plug holes draft without much focus.

Average draft so far in my eyes and i'm usually quite optimistic. But...I'm tired so maybe i'll have new eyes in the morning. Goodnight all.

i don't know man, cam akers doesn't look soft to me.

Contributors yes. Starters no.

Third WR starts in our offense and if it's an honest RB split that's as good as. Burgess is likely our nickle back which also starts or is on the field a ton and the Edge has a chance to play a lot. We did good your definitions need work.

akers will share the load with henderson - starter.

one of the wrs are leaving after this season - jefferson will be a starter in time.

3rd round picks are in the contributor range. if they can contribute that's a win.

right on.

Think Akers is suppose to have excellent speed.
Jefferson is Gritty & solid route runner, plus a gunner on special teams.
T. Lewis has elite speed for size.
Burgees ran a fast 4.50 40

I appreciate your perspective, but disagree.

And I didn't even say I don't like the players: Just that none of them are slam dunk starters, and that is what I was hoping for.

Respectfully, you can't really correct me on my desires or my perspective. And only time will tell us if these guys are any good.

We don’t have vacancies in our starting lineups like the Dolphins or Bengals or other cellar dweller teams do where we need to have a rookie start for us. We are picking players to develop and contribute in their rookie year and maybe step up as a starter in their second year with the team. We are in a good place.

All this player talk is great, but our play calling may be the real issue. It seemed McVay lost his way most of last season.

agree they fill in for 4 list starters.

Weedle,Robey-Coleman,Christian (Burgees)
Akers(Gurley)
T.Lewis(Clay)
Jefferson (Cooks)

even if not starters in 2020 they are eventually starters & solid depth.

We would have to be a really weak team for all of our draft picks to be starters in their first year.

By next year I do expect them to all be starters.

well Mcvay already addressed that. The new hires also have a say on players.
