Quick Quote:
“This kid jumps off the tape. He’s a better player than (2016 first-round pick) Karl Joseph. He’s a ferocious hitter and he can cover a lot of ground. He will be a top-20 pick this spring.” — NFL Exec
Scouting Report:
Matches the profile of what NFL teams are looking for in a strong safety – devastating tackler that can cover. Very good to excellent diagnosis skills, and a smart defender. Not a liability in either run game or pass game, and can cover centerfield. Projected Draft Round: 2-3 DraftBlaster

Player comparison: Earl Thomas, Seattle Seahawks
High praise, but this comp is more about athleticism and playing style than expected next-level production. Like Evans, Thomas is an explosive athlete who has been outstanding in coverage throughout his career... he is likely to develop into a highly productive starter at the next level. SB Nation
My take: The Chargers get the Safety Help they desperately need. Justin Evans brings speed and toughness to a defense that needs both. Day one starter.
Charger Draft round 1-4:
1. Jonathan Allen DL Alabama
2. Cam Robinson OL Alabama
3. Curtis Samuel WR/RB Ohio St.
4. Justin Evans S Texas A&M
