DRAFT TRADES
Reading through some of the posts that I missed while sleeping it seems that some GMs have been annoyed at some of the trades that have been made which include players. I'll say my piece than I will remain silent on the matter.
Firstly. Let's remember that this is supposed to be a fun and entertaining game. This ISN'T real life, this ISN'T the real draft.
I know a lot of you guys are taking it seriously, as I am, I spend countless hours researching draftees, watching as much game tape and highlights as I possibly can to make my Big Board. I respect the other GMs picks and trades, as I believe that they put in the same amount of passion and dedication as I do - every year I make new friends through this process. Shout out to
@Alan - who gets dragged through my non-NFL personal ups and downs and never moans - someone I can class as a friend, even though we've never met.
Secondly. I don't think there are any trades that are made which are totally unrealistic. Of my trades
@DaveFan'51 wanted to get his guy in the 1st - I had 2 picks in the first thanks to the Branding Cooks real-life trade with the Pats. In return I got 3 players which are being upgraded nicely via the draft and were surplus to his vision of what HE wants Minnesota to be. My trade with
@TheDYVKX was for 8 places and included a backup TE (that hasn't taken any snaps in Miami) that I was gunning for in the previous draft, someone I know will be explosive with Brees throwing the ball. My trade with
@Riverumbbq was for a 5th & 7th for rotational DT Nick Fairley - I believe that is decent value for him and even tough Fairley has signed a 4yr contract I believe that the opportunity to be a starter and NOT a rotational guy would be very persuasive and my final trade (to date) was with
@Memento for Garrett Grayson + a 6th for Dante Fowler Jr. Now Memento has put down the reason why they shopped Fowler - who's to say if he's being outplayed by Ngakoye his value would plummet in the next season. Fowler may want out because of this - he did only have 4 sacks last year to Ngakoye's 8 - I think Memento's reasoning is valid.
Thirdly. It's not like someone traded their WHOLE draft picks (+ the following years Rd1 & Rd3 picks) to move up 7 spots in RD 1. (New Orleans Saints in 1999) or swapped 5 players & 8 draft picks including 3 first Round picks for a player and a 4 picks (Cowboys + Vikings in 1990) or 2 first round picks, a second rounder and 2 players to move up 1 in the draft (Chargers + Cardinals in 1990) - now those type of trades would be so far fetched it would make this Mock a
Mockery...
Finally. It's supposed to be fun guys! Let's not ruin it.
Let the games continue
