I will agree that Goff had a bad game against the Jags and Vikings, but as Bluecoconuts states he destroyed the Eagles defense for the entire game save for 1 fumble that wasn't his fault.

And you know how I feel about the Falcon game.

1 punt after the first quarter and the Rams defense couldn't stop the Falcons in the second half. If not for 3 dropped TD passes, Goff would have had a respectable game with a possible come from behind win in a playoff game.

As a result, I will always point out these facts when you state the Falcons stopped the Rams offense. It was the Rams defense that stopped the Rams offense in that game.

It's better for your sanity if you just ignore @LACHAMP46 in threads when he starts taking about qbs in general. It works well for me.

Goff was a machine in the crunch against the falcons. Unfortunately Watkins and higbee were broken. But it probably wouldn't have mattered. If higbee or Watkins held onto the first td catch the falcons probably would have got the 1st down they needed to win the game.

Ball security all but lost their playoff game against the Falcons so it better be a priority. Even if it was mostly one man's problem. But still nothing but great things coming out of OTAs especially regarding the offense. I get the feeling McVay had a huge smile on his face the whole day they traded for Cooks. Well.... a bigger smile than the one he usually always has lol.

I truly believe that Cooks will be a HUGE upgrade for this offense.

Huge. Massive. Big.

I think the biggest thing was Brockers going out. Coopers fumbles was a very close 2nd though.
I think/thought the Rams settling for 3 at the end of the 1st half was a back breaker.
After giving Atlanta all the breaks in that 1st half, the momentum was all Rams in that last 3 minutes of the half. They go in to the tunnel 14-13 up, it’s a different game.
But yeah, Brockers being out killed us

Should point out that in order to see some of this stuff, you have to stand at an angle from like 50 yards and a find a number through a maze of limbs, so I'm sure I didn't catch everything. But at least it's a framework.

And the secondary seemed as you’d expect. Talib-Joyner-JJohnson-Peters and Shields-Countess-IJohnson-Hill. With NRC at nickel. Didn’t make note of a nickel on the 2s.

I had the DL as Suh-Westbrooks-Fox and FranklinMyers-Smart-Bryant. LBs as Littleton-Wilson-Ebukam and Lawler-Kiser-Howard-Young. Missing a first-team edge because I wrote down 52 (Wilson) twice. Maybe he moved around.

Also, Temarrick Hemingway was moving really well when I saw him in drills. He looks to be well over last year’s injury.

Without Whit and Sully, Cornelius Lucas and Austin Blythe joined the first OL at LT and C. Second OL was Noteboom-Demby-Neary-Eldrenkamp-Williams. Demby was hustling. Or he’s pretty quick. Liked the way he moved.

To me, Higbee and Reynolds were offense standouts in the 7 on 7. Both made a couple plays. I took PBP in the 11 on 11 and the offense didn’t do much there. Lot of run plays. Gurley got all three touches on first series. Brown and Davis on first series for 2s.

On the other side of the field, in the same drill I think, cornerback Curtis Mikell, the UDFA from Southern Miss, picked off Mannion in traffic.

Couple rooks made some defensive plays in the team portions of practice. OLB Justin Lawler, the seventh-round pick from SMU, dropped into coverage in the red zone and made a diving breakup of a wobbly Goff ball down the right sideline. Huge cheer from the defense.

Most of the team work was 1s against 2s. So you had Goff/Gurley/Cooks/ect going after the 2s and Mannion/Brown/Reynolds going after the 1s.

Again, the Rams were missing Donald and Obo. Longacre wasn’t dressed. Zuerlein, Peterson, Easley among those rehabbing. Whitworth and Sully didn’t participate

Goff torched the Eagles defense. Half as many plays, just as many points. He didn't have refs calling bs drive extending penalties to help either.

Eagles pretty much kept the Rams passing game bottled up.

Outside of Cooper Kupp's 64 yard catch and run, Rams had only one passing play of 20 yards or more. Remember, Robert Woods was out that day.

It was Todd Gurley carrying the Rams offense in that game. When we got the ball into his hands, we moved the ball and scored. When we went away from him, we didn't.

These were Gurley's stats on three of the Rams TD drives; 8 carries, 88 yards, 2 TD, and 1 catch for 20 yards.

Falcons made a point of stopping Todd Gurley as a receiver. He never got untracked.

Without that the Rams offense is a lot more ordinary. Rams had a lot of short completions in the 4th quarter but the big play element they had been living on all season was MIA pretty much all day.

I think the biggest thing was Brockers going out. Coopers fumbles was a very close 2nd though.

It's all cyclical I'd say. Both were major contributing factors to the loss. But if one of the variables was missing we might still win. The fumbles got us down and demoralized early and prevented possible points we could have put on the board to prevent them from jamming the ball down our throats and running the clock out. Brockers getting injured was the next event that created the perfect storm that killed our chances of making a comeback.

A total lack of being able to get Atlanta off the field in the 2nd half killed us.

Once Brockers got hurt & The Rams we’re playing from behind.

The pass in the corner of the end zone when Matt Ryan was slipping was a killer play. Lucky pass & because of the awkward throw the DB had trouble covering it.

I’ll also add that McVay made a mistake on his play calling. I bet it kills him he did not get Todd Gurley going early.

The Atlanta loss was a combination of things... fumbles, penalties, Brockers, etc. Time to move on.

The experience this team got last year, especially the failures, will make a huge difference this year. Head Coach and QB more than anything. McVay is constantly critiquing himself and as I have stated over and over Goff's history says he will improved from year to year. So we will see some improvement on the issues that cropped up against good teams teams. So just hold on for the ride.

Cooks is gonna fix that.

I guess the 2 TD passes from Goff don't count. However, I may have exaggerated that Goff destroyed the Eagles but 2 TD passes with 0 interceptions and a 110 rating plus 2 TDs by the running back with assistance by the passing game to get down to the red zone make that a respectable game in my book.
