4th Rd / Pick #117 - Jarquez Hunter, RB, Auburn

Traded 6th Rounder, #190, to move up.

Overview

Run-after-contact machine who can extend the play well beyond what you might expect. Hunter is a compact back renowned for his lower-body power and battering-ram mentality. He frequently tears through arm tackles and drags tacklers for extra yardage. He could use less “fight” and more “flight” when there are still moves to make on the second level. While the burst is average, he’s decisive and sees run-lane development as a zone-scheme runner. Hunter is a little limited, but his role is easily definable as a two-down pile-mover for teams looking to impose their will on the ground.

Strengths
  • Known for his character and work ethic.
  • Embraces contact and can handle a heavy workload.
  • Squat-rack warrior with immense power in his lower half.
  • Quick downhill transition in one-cut opportunities.
  • Contact power creates added yardage at impressive rates.
  • Displays vision and feel to find and flow with the run lanes.
  • Provides kick return and cover experience on special teams
Weaknesses
  • Turns and cuts lack crispness due to tighter hips.
  • Below-average burst to accelerate both inside and outside.
  • Lacks open-field creativity to make tacklers miss.
  • Looks rigid and unnatural as a pass-catching option.
  • Needs to work on positioning to square up blitz pickups.

So what's the strategy?

So instead of 3 picks on day 2 we now have two picks. But, a big one next year. I believe our Falcons pick will be somewhere between 10 and 15. Ours anywhere from mid 20's to 30's. Question is, what did they have in mind when they made the trade?

Are they planning on packaging the two firsts to move up and draft Stafford's eventual replacement? Or are they planning on using a pick to make another all in trade for another run at a championship?

Or do they add more first round talent to the roster for the future? Guys on their rookie deals for a few years?

Seems like they have options for this year and next. I just don't know what they have planned. Should be interesting.

Is he worth moving up for?

We are in a win now mode as we all know. We also know that Stafford only has a couple years left with us at least. Is Travis Hunter worth mortgaging the future for moving up to 2? Even with our need at QB soon…

Sorry to make a new thread but… just want to know.

If yes, what is fair to give up in your mind?

Edit: For the record I don’t think there is a chance at all we would do it.

It was nearly ten years ago, May 1, 2015, when Rams running back Zac Stacy infamously tweeted "Yikes", in response to the Rams selecting Todd Gurley #10 overall in the NFL draft. As he rightly anticipated it spelled the end to his career with the Rams, and after a brief stint with the Jets, the end of his NFL career as well.

I remember the year before when the Rams selected Aaron Donald thinking, "We don't need interior D-lineman. We are set! with Brockers and Langford." Boy, good thing I wasn't in charge of the Rams draft. (Plus who wasn't excited about Jermelle Cudjo?)

As the Rams head into tonight's draft, surely some player on the team will receive a strong, and maybe surprise message that the Ram BrainTrust is looking to upgrade the position they were hoping to hold on this year's Rams roster. Maybe a starter. Maybe a key backup.

Who will be tweeting "yikes" tonight?

Weigh in on the poll question, and let us all know in the comments.

Surprise 1rst Rounder

We’re finally here. We have bandied about a lotta players who are possible 1rst rounders.
Who have we missed?
Is there anybody out there you see as a Surprise 1rst Rounder?
I’m not talking about out those you feel aren’t deserving, but might get picked anyway; I’m talking about a player no one is saying much about and slips into tonight’s festivities.

Anybody come to mind?

Allbright's mock

From what it's worth, he's pretty tied in to the league outside of Denver.

Benjamin Allbright 2025 NFL Draft Mock Draft

ByBenjamin Allbright

I tried to do my best to match player or position to team rather than projecting trades. I do believe there are several trade candidates in this draft. Carolina and Minnesota have both been vocal about wanting to move back, whether or not they actually succeed. I did not include Jaxon Dart in the first round although I do think it's likely a team could trade into the last 12 picks for him. I am not buying the Tyler Shough hype for the first round, although I know two teams at are fairly high on him and could look to draft him in the second round.
Send all complaints to me.
As always, enjoy.

The one prospect...

... who will make you throw your TV out of the window.

Seeing it's the eve of the draft, who is the ONE player you do not want to see the Rams select with their first pick, whether that's via trade up, trade down, or staying put at 26. Let's limit it to players who have been linked with us in the media recently, not some unknown punter from a second division school that nobody has ever heard of.

If the Rams use (or should that be, waste) their first pick on Jalen Milroe, it's bye bye Bravia for me.

Who have you got?
