CJ.
Very short term.
Came in on short notice and gave the team a boost.
Him and Gurley in that Dallas game was beautiful to watch.
Couldn't quite win the big one, but respect for what he did.

btw, Craig Dahl wasn't that short term. I began to think he had some blackmail on the coaches...

I don't know if we destroy Dallas as we did that year and maybe no Super Bowl appearance without CJ. He has my vote.

Dante Hall - didn't do much for us but his career was fun to watch
Zac Stacy- I thought he was the future until we upgraded with Gurley.

Wendell Tucker made some plays on the receiving end of passes from Gabe in 1968 & 1969, then suddenly wasn't producing in 1970. Any old-timers remember him? And know what the deal was with him all the sudden disappearing?

He fumbled way too much... and ended up going to the whiners.

My bad... lol

My old timer eyes must've failed me there.
Easy mistake. I do wonder why Tucker went from being a legit playmaker to invisible in the span of one season. Being on the other side of the country, years before all the NFL TV coverage that came to be prevalent in the 1980s, I wonder if he was injured. He was traded, along with TE Billy Truax, to Dallas after the 1970 season for WR Lance Rentzel and wikipedia says he landed with the Dolphins prior to their 17-0 1972 season but was released before the season kicked off due to a lingering knee injury.
Actually, I just googled him again and his wiki page has been updated to say he was injured during 1970, so there you go.

Fun Thread.

I am thinking that even four years is too long because it covers some solid draft picks that left via free agency after four seasons; and that includes some players the Rams would have preferred to keep.

Got two DBs to throw out there ... Cornerbacks Gary Green and Kirk Collins.

Green was a former #1 pick and All Pro with the Chiefs that the Rams traded a first round draft choice to acquire in 1984. Top-tier CB but suffered a career-ending neck injury after just two seasons with the Rams (both playoff years). His loss opened a spot for Jerry Gray who was a Safety in college and a Rams' #1 pick. Gray played CB with the Rams and went to multiple Pro Bowls.

Collins was a back-up in his first couple seasons but became a starter in 1983 (first year for John Robinson and Eric Dickerson). Collins had five interceptions in just four games before an illness took him off-the-field. Eventually diagnosed with cancer, and he died within six months. His loss was one of the reasons the Rams made the above-noted trade for Gary Green.

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Why not Dick Vermeil & Trent Greene then. Didn’t all 3 get traded?

Plus Bulger really was a solid waiver pick up.Just good enough to keep him as the Franchise.

Jay Cutler & Matt Ryan were 2 players.
Ngata was next pick as well.Tory Holt thought he was some draft guru & The Rams traded back for Ty Hill.

The Rams never built there offensive line & should have signing SJ39 instead of Bulger. That would have made a big difference.

Then again The Rams had Fitz in the wings already, until they traded him.

Ryan Pickett was a young DLineman twinner that JZ & Shaw let go.

Scott Linehan trusted them & then looking over his roster wanted to resign him,but it was to late.

He basically said FU Rams & the rest is history. I believe he really helped GBay out a lot.

Gotta put in another vote for CJ.

IMHO, CJ wins award for “biggest contribution over shortest amount of time.”

We pick him up at the tail end of the season, and he goes for 167 in wk 16 and 132 in wk 17. That’s 299 rushing yards in 2 games!

CJ was huge for us in the playoff run, especially vs Dallas and NO (he had a clunker in the SB like everyone else).

In just 5 games as a Ram— 2 reg season and 3 playoff— CJ churns out over 500 yards from scrimmage and also has 4 TD’s.

And then he disappeared.

Actually the Tre Mason draft pick was what helped send Zac Stacy.

Well I guess I’m wrong, but Snead found Daryl Richardson first, then Stacy. He then went with Tre Mason
& then finally Gurley.

The Gurley pick was a surprise & sent all 3 players away, but of course Gurley was the clear choice.Especially being a top 10 pick.

Now Snead has a new stable with UDFA Brown & now Hendo & Akers.

Snead changed his ways with Mcvay though.Instead of having just one RB & one ball.
