You think you could run with those guys for real ? :D

I think you would be VERY surprised.
That was we in the business call "a joke". You may have seen or heard one before, although it seems you may not have recognized them.

I didn't really say anything about any of that.

I meant if you're an NFL fringe player who is younger and wants to play pro ball.

The hierarchy is basically this;

1) NFL
2) CFL/ NFL practice squad.
3) College.
4) Arena/Semi-Pro.
5) Sandlot.
6) Touch football with chicks.
7) Touch football.
8) Couch Potato know-it-alls like myself.

Quick was and is playing in the NFL, he just shouldnt have been drafted as high as he was
train
I saw Quick as predicted to go anywhere between the 4th to UDFA.

And I don't think it's a big deal to jump up one round, like maybe take him in the 3rd at the most.

But the 33rd pick in the draft?

I am still stunned when I think about it.

I guess that is why Fisher is now a fisher.

They said the same thing about Jerry Rice, Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald.

Rice ran a bad 40 and that was all, Boldin's game wasn't predicated on the same things.

Fitzgerald blew him away so that is different.

Hard to compare pro bowlers and at least two first ballot HOF players to a guy who was a POS and sucked at the combine and couldn't stick on the Rams practice squad and didn't get a call from anyone else.

I don't think the Rams "missed".

I think 6 is a little low on your list

He isn't fast at all.

Here is a report on his combine performance I found.

Meanwhile, Auburn's D'haquille Williams did not impress scouts and finished in the bottom four in four drills. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.72 seconds, tying for the second-slowest time among receivers, and his three-cone drill time of 7.43 seconds was the slowest of the 27 receivers to participate. His vertical jump of 30 inches ranks 38th out of 41 and his broad jump of 10 feet, 1 inch is tied for 28th out of 40. Williams also dropped a pass in drills.

And as far as off field issues he got kicked off of the team at Auburn..........that says a lot. It takes serious repeat offenses to get taken off the team at most big time college programs.

And the knock on him from what I just read (from multiple sources) is that he is a terrible team mate.

It sounds to me like it wasn't a miss at all. It sounds like he just wasn't that good.

He wasn't good enough to make it on his skills though, so turning whatever was wrong around so it's better doesn't upgrade his skills and abilities.

With the NFL pretty much one rule almost always applies. Players are either up to the level of competition or they aren't.

I'm judging his speed on the fact that during his brief college career, and his current CFL career he's getting separation from guys….

and you mentioned that he didn't make our team because of his "skill"...

I would disagree with that.....

Duke Williams skills have never been in question. His workouts have always compared favorable to other big playmaking WRs..... .…. the one highlight from his time in camp with us was him winning the 1 handed grip contest on the team as seen on the Hard Knocks episode....

and he's currently fulfilling his well above average physical ability in the CFL....

comparing him to the WRs we kept at the time...some of whom aren't even in the NFL anymore..... taking a chance on him would have been a better move than keeping Nelson Spruce around.... hindsight is 20/20, but Spruce still hasn't gotten on the field...
