Over 70% of the time they are and I bet the vast majority were won with field goals and timeouts in hand.

The 9ers needed a TD with no timeouts, I bet that is a single percentage probability.

I think if the opposition needs a FG and have a time out or two is an entirely different matter to what we allowed them to do yesterday with an injured QB calling the shots.
What about with a defense that has lost it's starting FS and the backup is playing with one hand and you're CBs, outside of Ramsey are shit.. and Rapp is your other guy in coverage?

I'll say it again.. they can't score if they don't have the ball.

Yes you do, and Morris and Stafford and the defense. You all need to finish games off not take your foot off the gas. You also need to Finnish calling empty backfields on third and short. Has any of those calls not been a sack?

This.

Times 8 fucking million.

if Rams are ever again 3rd and one, and McVay calls a pass out of the gun, somebody please hit him in the head with a hammer, or me!

train
The pass is okay, but out of the empty set is telegraphing your intentions and signals all out pass rush to the defense,

I'm a bit more sanguine today on all this. Helps to recall that we would have died for 3 division titles in 5 years at one point in time...

Mcvay bitched out .. played scared and got what he deserved … I’m. Beyond mad right now … Stafford may get a lot of yards and TDs but I fear he may be overrated .. I’m gutted for kupp … Morris has to go like right now .. ramsey was up in grille and that’s never a good sign … and the offensive minded boy wonder outsmarts himself again … he got rid of a young turnover machine for an older slightly better turnover machine and we have to bank on hitting 3rd and 4th rounder diamonds …because we don’t have any 1st rounders …

The fucking niners own us …. How do you feel about meeting them in the playoffs … I’m fucking disgusted
But before the season would you have agreed to take whatever else came from your QB throwing 40 TDs?

How many fumbles did Stafford have this season, I don't recall (I mean, come on...he's no Tony Banks). Is he really at the same level as Goff's ridiculousness from last season?

Perhaps this thread should be called: Nitpicking over two excellent performances by two good teams :)

I get it, we lost, but:

Jimmy G will not play that well again while a 9er
Deebo, love or hate him, is one of the best players in the league, not just a good WR

Bank it:
Ramsey will be a beast in the playoffs no matter who he is matched up against
We match up well against every team in NFC and AFC
Stafford is going to play like he is leading the team on the final drive of the game on every drive of the game
McVay will fix the blocking and then our running backs will beat up on opposing defenses

Believe...

A lot of posters are blaming McVay, but I don't see it that way.

All year long we've heard two recurring (and probably valid) critiques of McVay:
1. Abandoning the run too quickly and 2. Boneheaded 4th down calls.

In this game, ya sure can't blame McVay for not being patient enough with a power run game. He kept at it, and even went jumbo with extra OL several times. Plenty of balance on O, with 32 pass attempts and 27 runs. No, the problem was the OL just couldn't win the trenches today. Rams RB's carried 26 times for only 46 yards!! Less than 2 yards a pop. (The one Kupp run for 18 yards boosted the average up to a measly 2.4 yards).

And as for point #2, I sure loved that call to Higbee on 4th and goal to put us up 10-0.

Bottom line: I'd put this loss on execution and getting beat by a more physical team. Our OL got manhandled (both run and pass), and our D missed way too many tackles.

Just wouldn't pin the blame on coaching for this one, IMHO.
Nope, its McVays fault. Its right in front of your face. 3 runs up the middle against a defense we could not run against. Their front D is tougher than our front O.
All we needed was a simple first down and GAME OVER. I agree the first play should have been a run if that is what he wanted to do. After than, simple safe passes that had to add up to what ? 8 yards ?
Do a rollout, little dump off pass to Kupp or a RB. If not Stafford could run for a few yards.
But our coach did not even try. He either is not as smart as we/he think he is. Or, he overthought the situation.

I recall that well, and I'm not on the "selling him down the river" train.

But he's not above criticism (for example, making a bad hire at DC, empty backfield on 3rd and 1, etc.).

If he want to get to the next level, he's going to have to make better decisions. Otherwise, he is going to be one of those guys that, while he will win more than he loses and takes the team to the playoffs most years, won't be able to get us over the hump.

Morris should be fired immediately following the End of the Season. He’s not capable of adjustments and has coached the Rams defense into the worst tackling team in the NFL. Even if they win the Super Bowl ( they won’t) Morris should be gone. Let OBJ walk. He’s not a difference maker and he couldn’t carry Woods jock strap. Let Miller walk. He’s a luxury that they overpaid for in draft picks. Don’t complicate it by over paying him in salary. He’s pretty much done and a HUGE liability in run support. I’d put Ramsey on the market and see what he could possibly bring. He’s a great individual player but not a great team player. He’s been gambling all season instead of playing straight up. It finally cost the Rams big on that last drive completion to Samuel. Ramsey was in coverage trying to bait Jimmy G and he got burned leading up to the tying touchdown. Rams need lots of new blood on both the offensive and defensive lines. I’d let Michel walk. He’s been good but he’s not worth the money it would require to retain him. Draft a couple of linebackers and prioritize a free safety who can cover. Rams safeties are all really SLOW. This team needs a major overhaul. Hopefully somebody besides Les Snead will be making the decisions. The Atwell pick alone should get him fired. Get McVay a real G.M. Someone who has full say over personnel.

Good take right here. Ill be honest I dont think we would have rolled off 10 straight to win the SB. Lets get the loss out of the way now....

There WILL be upsets next week, hope we are not one of them.
