Joyner could have all the heart, talent and football instincts in the world, but none of those can make up for his lack of height. Tying to defend TE's over a foot taller than him in the back of the end zone is a no win for Joyner.

The Rams defense could be excellent this year.

Could easily go from elite to suspect if key injuries occur. Fortunately McVay and Co are taking precautionary measures to make sure that doesn't happen

Man, sounds like a DT coming out of college a few years ago...

Man, I'm with you 100%. He made Thielan and Keenum look like Hall of Famers. I actually blame Hatfield for that Minny loss.

yeah but he was a rookie who shouldn't have been out there. who knew 2 or 3 dbs would get injured that game.

Gurley, Brown, Kelly, Nick Hollie taking handoffs.

Look for the last 3 getting time on Saturday
How's Kelly looking lately? Notice anything with him good or bad?

Kelly looks good, he'll make the team. He got a couple screen passes and had a nice run today.

Very rarely does a deep safety end up defending a TE, that's usually the up safety and linebackers responsibility. The deep safety is usually there to help a CB against a WR, especially when going long. Not saying a deep safety once in awhile won't have to take on a TE, but a deep daddy's ability to take on a TE isn't a necessary requirement for the position.

Are you guys happy or relieved, etc. camp is coming to an end?

Curious, does the team seem different compared to last years camp? For instance, better players overall noticeable? Cooks vs. Watkins? Etc.?

What about swagger? Does the team seem to have more swagger than last year???

Kelly looks the part of a 3rd down/change of pace back. He caught some out of the backfield today.

Davis pulled his hammy on Monday and was not on the field today. #25 Nick Hollie was getting reps with the ones. Expect to see both Kelly and Hollie on Saturday.

Happy only because that means we are closer to the start of the season. Also now they have closed practice up there at Cal Lutheran where I'm sure they will work on more exotic stuff than what we saw here at camp. Also, it does start to get a little expensive when you have to pay for parking and the obligatory beer or two with your buds so now that it is over, I can get back to my budgeting and diet!

The more I think about your first question Jeff, the more I realize how much work is involved with getting to camp then processing my pictures and trying to get everything posted that night and still take care of your day to day affairs. I think that is why I haven't really posted a camp report since last Saturday. You and @bubbaramfan have done an excellent job of conveying what is happening on the field so no need for me to be redundant. Don't get me wrong, I love doing this and I do it for all those that can't make camp. A labor of love you could call it.

Any difference from last years camp? Maybe just a bit quicker tempo. Majority of the guys know what to expect and follow direction really well. The excitement of a new coach has worn off but the intensity he brings is still there, and boy does he bring it! An example is last Monday's camp. It wasn't mentioned but McVay was working strickly with the QB and WR. They would start at the 40 and run some passing routes then pull up stake and run down to the 10 and start over going the other direction. Then when that series was completed, run back to the 40 and go the other way again. Back and forth for about 15 minutes. He could of ran the same routes from anywhere on the field but chose to use field position as a teaching tool. That guy is like the Eveready Bunny. Keeps on going and going and going!

As far as players, better or noticeable. Cooks is the real deal, leaps and bounds ahead of Watkins. So glad we have him. Everyone looks a little better from last camp. No longer a new system to learn. Only the rookies have to rewire their brains. Having Talib and Peters in the backfield is going to be a fun thing to watch! The offense was my favorite group to watch on game day. Now it will be the defense. My God! Brokers, Donald and Sue! The three headed monster!

You ask about swagger. What is swagger? How do you define it or is it one of those things you either have or you don't? Well, this team is full of swagger and it's a good swagger. Maybe we could call it confidence or familiarity, either way, it is a very good thing to have. You will see it come game day when this team, whether it be the O or D or even ST takes the field and they execute to near perfection play after play. You'll see swagger raised to a new level. Greater than the '99 Super Bowl Champs!

Some very good questions Jeff and I'm glad you asked them for as you can see, you allowed me to reach way down inside to my inner camp reporter and pull out some good memories of the last month.

Nice post VRF. While I enjoy the hell out of TC, I can't wait for the season to start. TC this time around just seemed like they shifted into a higher gear. More focus and intensity. There was a feeling of "we need to get so much done in so little time" a sense of urgency. Even when players weren't participating, they were paying attention.

You can tell the players know this will be a good team and are working hard to make sure that happens. Swagger? Not really, more like confidence.

After the Rams moved to St. Louis, I had to rely on folks there to post TC reports. MFranke, CoachO, Rev to name a few. I'm in a position to return the favor, and give Rams Fans everywhere what I observed at TC. Depending on the local sports writers to get team and player info sucks. They put it out a day late and its not nearly as in depth. I just wish I had a background in journalism and could do a better job.

I appreciate all the "thumbs up", "thread winner" and especially the "Cheers"

Happy and relieved it is coming to an end mostly healthy.

I'm mad it's over because I love reading the camp updates from everyone here.

Man, we are so close! 3 weeks and we're on again. It's been a long offseason with all that's gone on.

Also, it does start to get a little expensive when you have to pay for parking and the obligatory beer or two with your buds so now that it is over, I can get back to my budgeting and diet!

Expensive with $10 parking and $6 beer. Well over $100 with how many times you and Bubba attended. Not to mention the traffic to and from the camp. Diet? You don't need to diet!

The more I think about your first question Jeff, the more I realize how much work is involved with getting to camp then processing my pictures and trying to get everything posted that night and still take care of your day to day affairs. Definitely a ton of work, in addition to the normal weekly grind. So, much appreciation again to you and Bubba. I know I love reading the camp posts and pics. Much better than the news reporters...for sure! And, I only chipped in with a few points that one day. I hardly did much. I'd do more if I didn't reside now in the Phoenix area.

That guy is like the Eveready Bunny. Keeps on going and going and going!
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!

As far as players, better or noticeable. Cooks is the real deal, leaps and bounds ahead of Watkins.
Cooks really stood out for me too, the Saturday I was there. He just looked really "smooth". I also liked Suh's work ethic. He stood out to me as a guy who was there to get some work done.

You ask about swagger. What is swagger?
You know, swagger. As you say, "confidence", but with added arrogance and aggressiveness. I mean that in a good way. I thought the GSOT had a lot of swag. Being the 2nd year under McVay, more familiarity with the coach, players, and plays, and coming off a playoff year, should make this team more confident. I thought they had some swag the day I was there. Great to hear you felt it for the whole camp.

and pull out some good memories of the last month.
You must have a bunch of great memories from this camp. Just think, if they go the distance and win the Super Bowl, you'll feel like a big part of it!

TC this time around just seemed like they shifted into a higher gear. More focus and intensity. There was a feeling of "we need to get so much done in so little time" a sense of urgency. Even when players weren't participating, they were paying attention.
This is huge. A really good sign this team is here to play some ball!

Swagger? Not really, more like confidence.
Ok, Ok. I'll stop talking about swag and just go with "confidence". But, swag is cooler...just saying. lol

I just wish I had a background in journalism and could do a better job.
Man, screw journalism. You guys did an awesome job with the camp reports, with plenty of great posts.

I'll shut up now, but again, thanks for the great camp coverage!!!
