Eagles linebacker Travis Long missed the entire season last year with a torn left ACL suffered in August. And now he’ll miss his second straight season after tearing the same ACL today.

The Eagles have confirmed that Long tore his left ACL in practice again today and will not play this season.

It’s obviously devastating news for a young man who now has to to be wondering if he’ll ever get to realize his dream of playing in the NFL. And it’s bad news for the Eagles, as well. Although Long wasn’t expected to be a big part of the defense, the Eagles don’t have a lot of depth at outside linebacker and thought Long could be a contributor there, and on special teams.

Long also tore his right ACL in 2012 at Washington State.

Geez. Makes me want to go real EASY with Gurley. I know he feels good... But it's not even been a year on his.

Wow, that's the third time for Travis Long. Can't imagine going through one of those rehabs let alone three.

Browns running backs dropping with injuries

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- The Browns are running low on running backs.
Injuries have sidelined five Cleveland backs in the first week of training camp, preventing the team from working on its rushing game and forcing the Browns to use two defensive players at fullback during practices.
One of the injured backs is rookie Duke Johnson, a third-round pick from Miami expected to have a huge impact on Cleveland's offense this season. Johnson missed his third practice Wednesday with a pulled left hamstring and it's not clear when he will return.
Coach Mike Pettine expressed some frustration and disappointment with the rash of injuries. The Browns plan to emphasize the run under first-year coordinator John DeFilippo, and any time missed by players, especially young ones, makes it harder for them to learn the system.
Also, Terrelle Pryor, attempting to switch from quarterback to wide receiver, sat out with a hamstring issue.

Instead of Jackson sending up the SJ39 signal above AT&T Stadium maybe he should be sending it up above Browns Stadium?

Looks like it was dislocated instead.

RT @AdamSchefter: A Cardinals official said Arizona WR Michael Floyd will miss 3-4 weeks after he dislocated multiple fingers during practice today.

Whew. That's potentially much better news for the Cardinals.

Cowboys Kenneth Boatright taken to hospital after possible neck injury

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Kenneth Boatright was taken off the practice field on a backboard and stretcher on Thursday after colliding with tackle Tyron Smith.

According to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys did not speculate on the extent of Boatright’s injuries, but said he was moving his legs before departing via ambulance.

“It’s just unfair to say anything until we get a report on it. So we’re just waiting for that report,” vice president Stephen Jones said. “Going back to look at the tape but I haven’t seen it for sure. I think there’s varying reports and we’re trying to confirm how it exactly happened. It was some collision with Tyron. The question is whether he got hut on the side or on the top.”

Boatright is in his second season with the Cowboys after appearing in one game for Dallas last year. He spent time with the Seattle Seahawks in 2013, but landed on injured reserve after an injury in training camp.

New York Jets safety Antonio Allen went down with an injury in practice Thursday and early indications are could cost him his season.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets fear Allen suffered a torn Achilles during practice. He’s scheduled to have an MRI on Friday.

Per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, the injury was in a non-contact setting as he was coming out of his stance. Jets head coach Todd Bowles confirmed it was an Achilles injury, but did not have a diagnosis on the extent of the injury.

A torn Achilles would mean the end of the season for Allen.

Allen appeared in 31 games over the last two seasons while making 17 starts for the Jets.

Jets’ Dee Milliner out 6-8 weeks with wrist injury

Already labeled in some quarters a draft bust, Jets cornerback Dee Milliner has had another setback.

Milliner suffered a tendon injury in his right wrist at Thursday’s practice and will have surgery today. He is out six to eight weeks, meaning he’ll miss the start of the regular season.

Of course, Milliner has been so bad in his first two years that there has been talk he might not even be on the roster when the regular season starts. This injury raises even more questions about what kind of future he has.

The ninth overall pick in the 2013 draft, Milliner has started 14 regular-season games. This year he’s competing for a roster spot as a backup, with Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie as the starting cornerbacks.
