Come on guys, what do you expect to get from these kind of posts right now. The Ramily is emotional after a loss to a rival. These kinds of posts will illicit an emotional response which makes them borderline trolling. I expect better from two of my most respected posters.
A wise man once told me, “you’re kind of a dick.“. But he also told me, “you can only control what you can control, just try to enjoy the rest.“ Since there’s very obviously nothing we can do about how he plays, how about we just support the guy and hope for the best. Sometimes he’ll play well, sometimes he won’t. The fuck you gonna do about it? He’s a ram, so he’s got my support. Doesn’t get much more complicated than that for me.

He is practically handing it to them. The throw he made for the pic 6 was as bad as I’ve seen. He threw the ball into triple coverage with no chance of a completion.
Utter exaggeration...he was hit as he threw.

Should have thrown it away or taken a sack.

Man, it's hard not to be pissed at Goff. Too many of these types of games from him. Like you said, he's not terrible all around. But the Rams can do better.

I think it's safe to say we can remove the genius label from Mcvay. When he has a good game plan, they look awesome. But when teams defense against it, he never seems to adjust.

When they lose to Mullens, I think back to the movie Kingpin. "You lost to a club player!!! You're not supposed to do that!!!"

Goff isn't going anywhere the Rams invested in the guy and our fortunes are tied up in him. But that won't stop them from bringing in someone like Minshew to give him a little better competition from the backup spot than he's getting now.

Also and assuming the plan is to go forward with him then maybe invest a bit more in the guys up front. More competition again would be a good thing.

And all this aside we're still 7-4 and in the hunt. We still have a chance. So there's no need for gloom and doom assuming we get Whit back.

Obviously he has my support as well. So do all the Rams man. Sometimes bitching is cathartic, idk. I was hoping for a constructive conversation, but I think I may be in the wrong thread for that lol cheers my dude, no hard feelings

To what end? Say someone in here has the knowledge of skills to figure out the "problem" with Goff. Then what? Does that same someone have a pipline to McVay that we can also set him straight with this sage wisdom? Look, I'm not averse to dissecting his mistakes or using hindsight to correct them for him, but ultimately none of it is within our control. Bashing the guy (not saying you're doing it) only further warps the image you have of him as you lay in wait for him to fuck up again. And then that perpetuates a cycle of wanting him to fail, believe it or not, so that you can drop the ever-devastating discussion-ending "I told you so." And that - in turn - only diminishes the appreciation and quality of his good performances. I've seen a million times, and I know it leads to nowhere.

I knew Case Keenum wasn't the answer, but boy did I have fun rooting for the guy.
Everyone else felt it incumbent upon them to remind me he was garbage.
Well, no shit. But who had more fun watching games?

Here's the play -

Yep. Threw straight into triple coverage. Horrible horrible worst decision of the year perhaps. That was never going to be a complete pass (to the offensive player).
I see what you mean. Hit or not, he had already made the decision to throw that to Kupp. Ugh!

At this point in year 5 we know what we have in Goff. He's as inconsistent as they come. Yet we are still seeing some of the same issues from his rookie year. Bad decisions, missed throws, panic, not reading the defense correctly. If he hasn't developed his game by now through 5 years it's not going to get drastically better is it? The '17 and '18 years gave us hope, but he has since regressed big time. Too many people still see Goff as that same player from 2+years ago, when they should be watching his play from the last 30 games and evaluating his career as a whole:

Rookie year= awful
2017= great
2018= great 2/3rds, bad 1/3rd
2019= bad
2020= bad

Looking at each of his seasons, seems to me that 60-70% of his career has been below average play.

I think it's funny how peoples tune changes from week to week when it comes to JG16

Hero last week
Zero this week
And thus lies Goff's problem. Inconsistency!!!

I think MOST of the folks here that are saying Goff is elite and doing just fine .... are saying so because they know, like all of us know, that there is no other QB available (on or off the roster). So they "stick with Goff" emotionally because they know 3 years from now they'll still be able to say "See. He's still our QB. Told you so!"

They can ONLY say that because we cannot cut him or trade him until 2023.

I guarantee you if we had another average or above average starting QB on our roster, quite a few more Goff apologists would be saying some different things. I mean, just think about if Goff was currently the Jets QB. How would he look? He's being carried a little bit by McVay that is for sure.

That being said, I myself REALLY want Goff to succeed. I want super bowl wins for the RAMS! Right now though, it doesn't appear he's headed in that direction. However, Goff is our QB for the next 3 years whether he plays great, average, or poorly.

right i get ya... but that really also had no choice but to pay him. No free agents worth a shit.. no draft picks.
They signed him a year early too. If McVay wasnt 100% on Goff, they'd have let him play out that contract

My frustration with Goff is simple....He's not playing anywhere near his contract value. The expectation is "lights out" at his contract level. He should elevate the play of those around him. He does neither. His mix of good / bad / great games says he should be paid like a QB in the bottom of the upper 1/3, not the top.

AD obviously elevates those around him
JR, in my opinion, elevates the backend of the D
Goff....not right now

I don't THINK anyone has said anything of the sort. Sure he played shitty. Granted. Objection sustained. What I saw was some people *also* saying that there was some blame to be shared in that loss. Like letting that scrub backup QB march down the field while that shitty team that everyone thinks is shitty converted 2 consecutive 3rd downs (and a 4th) to get into FG range to win. Elite? Nahhh. There aren't many of those dudes, and for good reason.

there are too many posters here that hate the guy. absolutely loathe him. its drips through every one of their posts. this support business is foreign to them.

Inconsistent, absolutely.

Turnovers, too many.

2020 season - 7-4

In 11 games, Goff has had 7 games with 95 plus passer rating.

That's winning football.

I can't say that the whole of the 2020 season is BAD.

Frankly, I'm at a loss of words when it comes to Goff. Simply put, I'm extremely disappointed in him. As some of you have mentioned, he's not elevating those around him, and I hold my breath every time he throws the ball. I have next to 0 confidence in the guy at this point. He's a liability and it's frustrating to have such an elite defense and our offense can't even help them out a little bit against a struggling injury ridden 49ers squad.

Great teams win the games we lost yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I'm a diehard here and will always root for Goff for as long as he's a Ram, but I'm certainly not sold on him and I think it'd be in our best interest to, unfortunately, use a 3-5 rounder on a QB.

Such a damn shame.

Good post.

No one is saying Goff is elite.

Must be ghosts saying that.

Goff is 23rd in passer rating in 2020. And 24th in QBR in 2020.

And he's 2nd in the NFL in turnovers.

That's winning football? That's good football?

I think we are on the same page. Bashing him is not the answer. Discussing the issues is, even if we don’t have McVay’s phone number lol Thats what a discussion form is for right ;)

BTW, I do remember you supporting Keenum! There was one image you made where Keenum had a bomb in his hand after he threw a deep TD! Shit was gold haha
