While I will be the first to admit, Pead has some long odds facing him this year, I just don't get all the love for Trey Watts. He made this roster solely because of Pead's injury a year ago, and now that he has committed wha tFisher likes to refer to as a "selfish mistake", I think he will be lucky to get much of a look throughout training camp.

I have been one of Pead's biggest supporters since he got here. And I still think he has a unique skillset compared to others on this roster. That being said, I also found out a few things last year about his relationship with his teammates. He is not exactly one of the more popular members of this team. Alot of that stemmed from an altercation he had during OTAs last year with Michael Sam. And plenty of the guys on the team took notice.

So, needless to say, he will have to earn his roster spot this year, and if there are any signs that he isn't 100% back healthy, then my guess is he won't be back. On the other hand, if healthy, will most likely be put right back into the mix, as a kick returner, and will compete for reps with B. Cunningham as the 3rd down specialist.

I'm looking forward to seeing the kid get some reps this year in the preseason. I'm hoping to see a hunger from him now that he's been knocked down a few pegs. Hopefully his tendency to pout has transformed.

Am I happy with Pead as a high 2nd round draft pick? No. Of course not. So I definitely understand the hate for him. That being said he does have above average value as a gunner. Sucks that we used a second round pick on a ST's player but as long as he is willing to accept his role, and succeed in it, I have no problem keeping him on the roster

Good point and there have been worse 2nd round picks for what its worth. At least he is contributing in some fashion.

I don't care much for Pead and would have no problem if he is cut.

But, If he proves healthy and the proves to be good enough to be our #4 and continues to play well on ST I dont have much of an issue with him making the final roster. His only competition really is Watts and Brown at this point.

They seem heavily invested in Brown, and don't forget Reynolds whom also has the ST aspect to his game, without the costly mistakes or fragility. Watts in my mind is also on the cusp himself.

Why is he better than Cunningham?

Not saying he's better, Cunningham did a nice job. In fact they can both be back there. However, Cunningham is more valuable to the team and KR's get hurt more. Gurley could miss some games early on and that makes Benny our #2 RB until Gurley is ready. I'd rather it be Pead. Word is Pead was looking good at the position in camp. He is faster than Benny when healthy.

Austin is the punt returner. Pead might return kick offs, but at the least he showed he was a pretty good gunner.

Whether he makes the team is partially dependent on the health of his knee, the health of Gurley's knees, and whether the team needs to carry extra players at another position because players are banged up at the beginning of the season.

Correct, I meant kick offs. Thank you

Why? From what I understand it was just a normal scuffle, was there more that wasn't reported?

OK that makes sense but this is just my opinion but pead might be faster running in a straight line but Cunningham is faster on the football field.

wow. my guess it was ugly.
Lets just say. No one came to Pead's defense.

And from what I heard, that was the day Michael Sam endeared himself to the rest of the team He showed he can handle himself and there wouldn't be any further "issues".

If verbal slurs were involved, I gotta wonder why Coach F would still keep Mr. Pead around. Seems that's something Fish wouldn't tolerate.

I have always thought Pead played very well when given a chance, which was way to little. He already proved he is NOT a KR. Why they continued to ram that down is throat was ridicules IMHO. One thing I really really dislike about Fisher is his inability to play young guys when they should be starting. Be it Bailey, Donald, Stacy when Richardson and Cunningham were avg 2 ypc, and Pead ect... No one can tell me Pead did not play well when he did play RB and special teams. Why people who continue to rag on Pead is beyond me.

I will have to do some searching but I'm almost sure that Cunningham was faster in track and the 40 than Pead but this was before Cunningham's injury.

Oh. There are all sorts of things said throughout some of these practices. So it was just another of those situations that police themselves.

These guys think that trash taking is a big part of their game. Which IMO it's nothing more then showing their ass most of the time.

Honestly I don't see either him or Watts making it tbh. Gurley, Brown and other guys they're high on seem to be taking all the spots and that leaves Pead and Watts the odd men out.
So first the Rams dump Stacy, now let's say they dump Watts and Pead, the by chance Gurley can't play... not a good scenario.

Bam Bam Cunningham is one of the most underrated players on the team IMO. he has only gotten better with every year of experience. he has good vision, hands and shiftiness. he was also 5th overall in kick return averages at 27.5 yards a kick. he's an excellent complementary offensive player and special teams player. Pead, Reynolds and Watts are all well behind Benny. he's solidified as the #3 back in my book and if not for Gurley then he'd been the obvious #2 which he will be for a bit into the season before Gurley gets going. he deserves a contract extension after another quality season. don't forget who Johnny's favorite target is (y)

Yeah, you may be right. The little we've seen of Pead has much to be desired. Snisher has done a great job rebuilding this but man, Pead has been a Donnie Avery sized disappointment. I mean we coulda had D-Jax and Bobby Wagoner. (Of course Avery was a Spagsvaney pick but you get my drift.)

Pead seems to me like a better, more versatile option than Reynolds. As far as his "issues" with Sam go, I wonder how the team felt about how certain members of the defense treated Odell Beckham Jr last year?

Which is why it wouldn't happen. They won't go into the season with only Mason and Cunningham on the roster. Reynolds doesn't count in my books. Watts getting in trouble increases the chances of keeping Brown or Pead. Not sure why you bring up the possibility of cutting all of them.

Big difference in my mind. Beckham came in here running his mouth from the outset.

Not justifying it, but he got that ball rolling. And he did little to stop it once it started.
