I'd prefer we spend our money elsewhere. Let just grab Olivier Vernon instead with that money. Or some DE, or DT depth. Grab a young center in the second round.

Wouldn't it be wiser to go for a younger and cheaper, Stefan Wisniewski. You know if we are going this way, a veteran replacement for Barnes.

I actually like this idea. Wanted him last year too. Would be like half the price of Mack(I assume).

Reasons this makes sense. Demoff's Dad is his and Fisher's agent, he's from Santa Barbra, he played at Cal, Fisher prefers vet centers.

On the other hand he is 30 and suffered through injury problems the past few years. Rams have a terrible vet FA center record

Would be a huge signing for the Rams. Solidify the Oline and bring leadership and experience.

PLEASE NO!

This is just a real bad decision IF true. PERIOD!

Remember me Ram Fans .....this has the makings of a Scott Wells or Jason Brown type sign all over it but this will stink smell :poop: & hurt  much more than those two..

Mack is not Wells or Brown! He is one of the best centers in the game.

I don't think anyone is arguing he's not one of the better centers in the game. Problem is, he's 30, has an injury history and is going to command North of $10M a year for 5 years. Rams have bigger needs and could use those $$ elsewhere with much more effectiveness.

Yeah I'm scared Mack is another o-lineman we're going to sign out of desperation who is beyond his prime years. Snisher doesn't have a good track record with free agent o-lineman so far. Hope I'm wrong.

Fisher prefers vet centers.

Exactly. The line needs a veteran that has played at a high level to teach by example IMO. However.......the price may be too high.

I really like that Center from Alabama Ryan Kelly. I just don't know if the Rams have enough picks to draft a center amongst other needs. He is super athletic and smart.

He's a good one. I like Martin and Turek too. I guess it gets to if they want another rookie on Oline and have to bring back Barnes as a stopgap ins.. And if the draft pick that could have went for the center has to be repurposed to fill other losses.
Mack has played his best football already, but on a deal that the Rams can get away from after 3 years he would be an upgrade.

Maybe Im a little gun shy considering the last few Alabama linemen that have come out but I don't want any part of another... There are some good centers in this draft though. The problem is that the line is some young already they need a vet leader.

The Rams finally have money to spend to bring in good players and people don't want them to spend the money?
With such a good history of signing 30 plus year old oline it's shocking anybody wants to sign another one on the decline.

30 isn't old for a center, he is IN in prime right now. Yes he has an injury "history" but we all do and I think one broken leg 2 seasons ago doesn't give him the tag "injury history".
The only problem with signing him is the price tag. I hope he gets all he thinks he's worth but if it's too much, he can go somewhere else.

I didn't like getting Mack when his name came up weeks ago. It's hard to say what will be best without knowing the Rams draft direction. Mack is a risk but so is waiting to draft a center. Barnes was average or below. The Rams young offensive line could use a veteran center. Should they move up a trade picks to get a QB in the draft having make could be a big asset. I think 10 Million a year is crazy money for him. Not sure what he is worth.

Maybe they're looking at getting one good year out of him because if it and other moves don't workout it could be someone else's problem.

The Rams need a guy in the middle to hold it down with the two rookies on either side of him, make good line calls (which he is excellent at), and not get overpowered. Mack is much more like Timmerman than Wells. He's played very well for a long time and still has a few years in him, it's a great fit.

Demoff will structure the contract so the big hit comes this year and next, and the Rams will be able to cut him loose if he degrades quickly.
