Hopefully, the seavultures candy assed run defense from last year returns and we can put up +150 yards rushing on them.

Pray for turnovers.

The less I see of Stafford dropping back in obvious pass situations the better.

Noteboom likely to get the nod at right guard

The Rams haven't publicly revealed what their starting offensive line for Week 1 will be, but McVay did mention one piece that is a strong possibility: Offensive lineman Joe Noteboom starting at right guard.

"There's a good chance for that," McVay said.

Noteboom had been competing with Alaric Jackson for the starting left tackle job, so in the event that does come to fruition on Sunday against the Seahawks, that would mean Jackson will get the nod at left tackle.

"I'm really happy for Joe, that, when he had the little setback a couple of weeks ago, that it was minor and he stayed strong, worked really hard to be able to get himself back," McVay said. "The learning curve has been quick. He's a guy that's started at a handful of different positions for us, whether it's left tackle, right tackle, he started at left guard. And so he's an incredibly versatile athlete, he's really smart, and I'm really happy for Joe. (I) want to just see him continue to trust the work that he's put in and just go cut it loose. Looking forward to watching him play on Sunday."

When you’re trying to fortify the run game, putting someone in at RG who has proven to be weak in run blocking, is not the way to go.

Means that Allen's likely starting at center. Which means...

Yeah, it's definitely eyebrow raising. Though it's mentioned, or hinted at, that they are altering their run scheme. Maybe Noteboom has looked better?

Going to be so interesting to see who's starting on the OLine Sunday. Just saw McVay's latest presser and he was really talking Noteboom up. What does that mean? No clue. Are the Rams planning to go heavy a lot? Bring Noteboom in as a 6th Lineman to run the ball with power?

I feel like I did back in McVay’s first year game 1 - no idea what to expect from the Rams in this game.

If Joe can be consistent with his technique he could be a pretty good OG. When he played LG his problem was inconsistent technique the biggest issue being playing too high. OG is completely different than playing OT. Playing OG is all about leverage, so he needs to learn to play low. If he plays low he has the power (assuming his Achilles is healed) to sustain bullrushes. He has good play radius and he showed good movement when he was at OT and healthy. I still say he's destined to play RT next year. This will now allow Wendell to get Dotson up to speed at RG (retraining his muscle memory from left to right).

I see Dotson now moving to RG next year with Joe moving to RT. When healthy Noteboom would be a huge upgrade to Havenstein. Havenstein historically struggled against the Seahawks because they know his limitations in regard to lateral movement. They probably will match up Boye Mafe against him. He's got good length and speed with an explosive first step. I believe he's a second year player but if Rob faces him he will have to bring his A game to protect that right side. Having Noteboom next to him will help.

My concern is how the OL handles blitzes. That said the only rookie on the OL is Avila. He's going to be tested. With a new LT and rookie LG those two are likely to see a lot of stunts and DL games. IMO Allen at center will be key as he is good at making the OL calls.

LT Jackson
LG Avila
C Allen
RG Noteboom
RT Havenstein

Swings: OT McClendon, OG/C Shelton, OG Dotson

Starting WR Jefferson at X, Nacua Z/Y and Atwell Y/Z

I'm not worried about the offense. How Morris plays his DL IMO will be crucial. If he simply goes one gap penetration with Young, Donald, Merchison and Hoecht they will make life miserable for Geno. I see the secondary starting: CB Durant, Tomlinson, safeties Fuller and Johnson, with Shelley the nickel DB.

I think the Rams matchup well in this game if played properly.

Last night the Lions played a lot of zone, but they were aggressive in their style of play and it made a huge difference. If the Ram secondary can play that aggressively LA wins this game going away.

Rams still need to pass the ball. That's their bread and butter. Keep the defense off-balance with the run to set up the pass.
Totally agree.
Run enough to get the defense leaning and try to burn them over the top with Atwell off the play action or just work them down the field with Nacua.

Did you happen to watch the chiefs/lions game? Goff could have been wearing his old Ram jersey on those play action plays. They ran some stuff that looked quite familiar.

.

I gotta tell you, I'm excited to see how the offense will look without Kupp. I have no idea who will step up.

Hoping Van can be the man. Tutu makes plays everywhere. Nacua moves the chains all game. Higbee catching a ton of balls. Hopkins getting out there and making a difference. Allen showing that preseason was a precursor of what's to come.

And of course cam running riot over those fools.

Can't wait.

Seahag fans are pretty confident with this one. Can't blame them I suppose. No Kupp on offense. A defense with mostly unknowns playing.

Its hard to feel confident in the Rams squad with so many question marks. We'll have to wait and see how they play when most the starters are playing and they aren't going vanilla with the schemes.

We could win by a lot, lose by a lot. Or anywhere in between. But we'll have a better idea by the end of Sunday afternoon.

I want to see good O-Line play. Last season Stafford was sacked a bunch. I think the rams allowed 30 sacks in 17 games last year and that hopefully was fixed. If not it will be a long season... again.
