Think beyond this season.

Yeah, I don't expect him to ever become a star, or even a quality starter. I could see him with more experience (including the experience he picked up in Oakland playing ST and backup in another system) becoming a useful role player. Not somebody to be ecstatic about - but an inexpensive option to fill holes. And let's be honest, ST and backup ILB should be inexpensive for the Rams' system. If he isn't picked off of the practice squad again, he should be a useful player for the Rams next season. Not a starter, not a key backup, but useful.

Every training camp there's a guy everyone (except the coaches) like and are bummed when they get cut.

I call it the "Nelson Spruce syndrome".

I am starting to think Littleton will not be here next year.

Not due to Allen being added to the practice squad, but because of having Young & Howard, who could both fill that role much cheaper.

Then sure, it is strange that you add Allen instead of another position to the practice squad after adding Young.

They may feel they would rather have the draft picks instead of sinking a ton of money into Littleton & Fowler. And the fact that they have young depth at Edge & ILB in Ebukam, Obo, Patrick, Durham at Edge, and Howard, Young, Allen, & Reeder at ILB. That depth might be why they pulled the trigger on the Ramsey deal.

That would allow them sign Zuerlien and add one solid OL FA, then extend Kupp, Ramsey, & Johnson.

Plus, with Cooks issues, might make them think about extending another pass catcher in Everett or Reynolds.

Sound logic and I can agree with it personally have even stated some of those ideas in the past. I know people really want to keep Littleton but Wade gets the most out of his ILB usually and with late round picks. We have a ton of guys built like him that just need to develop. People tend to forget he didn't start until his 3rd year, or rather to the end of his 2nd year to injuries. Others shouldn't write off the young guys behind him at ILB yet.

About Dakota Allen.

He kept impressing me by making plays in the ps games. And I loved his tackling.

So, his timed speed notwithstanding, I think he’s a football player. I think the Ram coaches see the same things.

You always try to make room for ‘football players’ on your team.

Built like does not equal plays like. Littleton has been a solid tackling big play machine. The dude just makes it happen all the time. Until I see it I won't believe that the younger guys can do what he does. Maybe we don't need them to, but it sure is nice.

And thank you for not quoting everything I said and making it look like I said they did and could :)

Good Lord. I was addressing just that one point. I didn't make it look like you said anything except what I quoted.

I mean, I did include that you said they need to develop which would imply that you didn't say they could play like him. But I don't want to invalidate your feelings with my facts.

Some said the same thing about Kromer and our O line entering this season. I don't trust unproven, inexperienced late round picks.

Don't trust them all you want. Give them a chance though, we really don't need to go through a list of late round picks or UDFA who have succeeded like say Corey Littleton to prove that point.

The Rams didn't dump him, he was stolen off waivers. I'm pretty sure he would have been named to our practice squad had he cleared. It doesn't appear that anyone picked him up off of these new waivers, so he can sign as a free agent anywhere. Hopefully the Rams bring him back, even if it's just to our practice squad again.
He was on the practice squad was he not?
I think the Raiders signed him off if the practice squad.

.

strange, he looked so good on the field. i wonder why two teams have already dumped him.

.
Very athletic, explodes to the ball, physical....
A lot of good physical traits.
Practice squad guy. Then signed and then cut by another team.
Tells me he probably doesn’t get it yet.
It being NFL defenses and assignments.
But, who knows?

Most don't pan out though. Littleton was a gem and we saw flashes of him on special teams before he got the position. I agree that we should the guys a chance, but lets works them in first rather than throwing them out there. Unless injuries occur, it looks like that is not happening this season. Maybe I'm wrong, but i still would rather keep Littleton over Fowler at this point.

Edit: I just saw that Hager is going to IR. Maybe they do get some snaps.

He might go to the IR we'll see what Wade thinks of Reeder going forward. But back to the late rounders, you don't know if you won't give them a shot. Every team has and needs late round picks to contribute to balance the cap, we're doing to need them.

I'm a Dakota guy. Id like to see him get a shot as many "depth guys" turn out to be starters. Not as much as they get cut but Last Chance U fans can dream

Do not :cry:over the loss of ILB Dakota Allen .....why ? Because ILB Travin Howard was a steal as a 7th round selection last season. Howard & Allen both play the same post. Allen would never beat out Howard. Howard defensive snaps continue to increase.
