I'm all for it. It makes for entertaining football when coaches have to do more math.

I'm a yes, make it so teams with a good kicker get rewarded. Increase the value of the position.

Only if they also change the distance of the two point conversion, if they change the distance of the PAT but keep the 2 point conversion the same then coaches who don't go for 2 points every time (with a few exceptions) are by definition idiots.

Hate it. I'm a traditionalist and it takes away a fake kick possibility.

That's a good point. Hadn't thought about that possibility of the play.

That just makes the fake even more of a surprise.

I think Fisher would still probably call a fake field goal from the 15 too. That's just who he is.

Like it. Can't stand unsportsmanlike conduct, and if hotdogging and making an ass of yourself costs your team on the scoreboard, than I am all for it. Play more safe, be a better person on the field, don't cost your team points, its that simple.

Also, no professional NFL kicker in today's game should miss a 33 yard field goal from the middle of the field. If you can't be counted on to make 100% of those kicks, then maybe football isn't your game.

The thing is the difference in the success rate from the 2 to the 17 is worse than the difference in the success rate from the 15 to the 30, so they are actually making the penalty less severe.

That's a little harsh isn't it? The snap and the placement don't matter? Three players have to perform perfectly in order for a successful kick to happen from any distance. I'd bet the two kickers who missed extra points already in preseason would have a different take on this. ;)

won't be the head coach doing the math tho...will be the assistants...HC's can't be bothered LOL

I voted no. I think it should be moved back to the 5-7 yard line, and have the 2 pt attempt from the same spot

I'm not a fan right now in that if a penalty is called, it would be confusing to the average fan on where and why the ball would be spotted...we have seen this already. Secondly, it does take away the fake field goal and almost eliminates the opportunity to score if the snap is botched. If anything, move the ball to the 1 yard line and dare teams to go for 2 points...would be much more entertaining.

Not for it either. I'm young, but with old school mentality. Keep it the way it was intended to be. Stop evolving the game around the players and make the players evolve around the game. To many rule changes have already taken place hence, the game has changed.

I think a good weather or dome team playing on the road in bad weather is at a small disadvantage because their kicker is not
as accustomed to the weather as the home team kicker.

I don't like seeing any game decided by a missed extra point. And I agree with Alan and Gandalf. Eliminates the fake, and can screw with bad weather games too much.

One of the few rule change proposals i like.
Now if they can just fix the "intentional" spike play and call it intentional grounding i'll be good.
