How could the 4 seed be preferred?
It’s not unheard of that the 3/4 play in the NFC championship game. It’s preferred to play that on the road?

Well let's chalk it up and ensure I'm not missing something, let's see here... Assume this is the field:

1. Eagles
2. Vikings
3. Rams
4. Saints
5. Panthers
6. Falcons

Round 1 Matchups (assume home teams advance)

Falcons @ Rams
Panthers @ Saints

Round 2 Matchups

Rams @ Vikings
Saints @ Eagles

Being playoff seed 3 puts us on a collision course in round 2 with the Vikings. Only way that doesn't happen is if we lose in round 1. Seed 4 ends up @ Eagles in round 2 if they survive wildcard round.

Also, I am assuming neither of the top 2 seeds falter in their final two games. If that happens, great. But we can't control that obviously.

they scored 4 medicore TD's today though.
Yep, against a weak Packers def. They don't have big, explosive plays on O. None of their WRS are deep threats. They offense consists of short out and wheel routes to McCaffrey or Olson, and zone-reads and designed runs by Newton. If we can keep Wilson in the pocket, we can do the same with Cam. He's stronger than Wilson, but not as elusive.

Their def is elite and they keep games close until the offense musters a drive together. But their offense sucks and I think we can put more points up against them than they can against us.

Easy, get in Dr Seuss's head, and we win...easy. I hope we play that weak minded POS.

I’d rather play Atlanta than Carolina and looking at the their schedule, I don’t think Atlanta is going to make it.
I’d prefer to play the weaker wild card team in round 1.
And if Philly is the weaker of the two teams, I’d rather play them in the nfc championship game, or beat Minnesota and play the nfc championship game in LA

What I'd like to see the Rams do is two things:

1. Beat the Titans.
2. Rest their starters vs the 9ers.

I want the key starters to get that week of rest man. I think that's important when you don't get the round 1 bye.

Totally agree with this Merlin, though others may not.

I also agree with you that Philly seems more vulnerable than Minn, and therefore 4 seed might be preferable to 3 seed.

McVay often says how much he takes input from Rath and Reggie, so I bet if McVay sees an opportunity in the last game to rest a couple starters who need it, he’ll take it.

I'm telling you guys. I have played and coached at every level, except the Pros, and Cam Newton has showed his ass. I'd go after him. Don't let him get rolling. You kick his ass early, and he turns into a defeated Ewok. That team goes, as he goes. We have already seen him quit, in a Superbowl. of all games. That dude quit, fuck him. I want to see him say uncle again. I want for us to make him say it. The Vikes, scare me. the Eagles, weak schedule, and the refs helped them win, so they scare me a little. Without help, we can beat all of them, but the Vikes, and home field....is real.

Get to the Superbowl...the AFC is a joke.

I want Philly and Minny: we have accounts to settle with them. We balanced the account against Seattle big- time. Squaring things with the 'Skins will have to wait for the future. However, Minny & Philly need to be seriously whupped by the team with the horns.

I don't know that I prefer one over the other among the lower seeds. Nuking them two weeks out is kinda tough tbh and I think the Rams will win in LA over any of them. The higher seeds are worth discussing because it looks like they'll both win out.

As to the second round, the desired matchup is definitely Philly. Going into Philly is going to be far easier of a game to win than going into Minny. If you think otherwise then yeah we gotta agree to disagree lol.

Once again though my preference overall is that the Rams win next week in Tennessee then rest their starters.

I think the Rams will destroy the Titans. (Anyone remember Jeff Fisher running up the score on the Rams in the pre-season after the Super Bowl? LOL).

I want them to destroy the whiners also. You play to win.

Then we'll probably get the 6th seed. Other than the Rams winning, we have no control over anything else.

If Wade gets the defense playing like the 2015 Broncos, we can still bring home the Lombardi.

If the Horns beat the Titans, they need to get their starters to score early & often against 'Frisco. They can then rest the starters while the 2nd stringers hold down the fort and gain valuable playing experience for the playoffs.

I think the Eagles are going to have a bad time in the Playoffs. Wentz was the key to their game, imho much more than Goof is to ours, because Wentz makes those really crazy plays that keep tough drives alive. Foles won't do that, he won't keep them on the filed, their defense will get tired, etc.

I am much more scared of the Vikes, mostly because they got there with Keenum as QB, and even though I really the guy, he is not a hall of famer. It means they are a very complete team. I don't know who will beat them but it's going to be tough on anyone.

I think the Panthers don't get enough credit and they will be very dangerous in the playoffs. I don't want to play them in the Wild Card round.

The NFC playoffs are going to be really interesting

Quite frankly I don’t care where we play or who we play

If the team that showed up against the hawks yesterday are playing we can beat anybody

Even a friend ( a pats fan ... I know I’m trying to get him help ) said that is one scary team we have ... I think some teams are hoping they won’t have to face us

I want the Vikings. I need to see Zimmers smug face again so I can watch us punch his team in the mouth. We can beat whoever we get at home. Seahawks ain’t making it. Look out for Dallas though, they still have a chance.

They have to beat both Minnesota and Philly so what difference is the order?
Being 3 seed means if Philly loses, the Rams could host to NFC championship

I think Eagles will finish with the 2 seed which is perfect because I think it's pretty obvious we'll take 3. So IFF we win our first game we get Philly and I want to smash them.

I'm just worried about Atlanta honestly. I hope they dont take 6th bc that is the kind of team that can play us well. I'd much rather the Sants or Panthers for the first game.

Rams win the final 2 games and there is no way in hell they are the #6 seed

i'm tellin ya, mcvay held back against the vikings and showed them little of what he's got in store for them. i think he had them pegged as the rams biggest threat so he wanted to show them nothing during a regular season game. they will get the rams A game if they meet in the playoffs.
