I think Goff would tell you it wasn't a top notch game. Per usual with him, he was very rusty in the first half of the week 1 game. His accuracy was a bit off. But he stepped it up big time late in the game and made some great throws. It's something to hopefully build on. The dude just has to stop trying to force throws instead of taking a sack. That cost him another pick six.
It was not perfect that is for sure. Top notch is probably an inaccurate term given the interception.
It's about context and nuance though. The game has to be put within that lens. You have a LT hurt and maybe the worst WR's in the league and find a way to put up 33 points vs a top defense, in your first game with a new team and system.
It's quite an offensive output within the actual context.
Having said that, I think this 9ers defense is not going to be the top defense of a few years ago. The secondary losses of Sherman and now Verrett probably for a season is real suspect.
