Tune is my guy but Hall is not far behind him. Totally irrational thinking but what bothers me about Hall is seeing how ill prepared Zach Wilson is. Cant blame one guy for the failure of another.
I just dont see it with Haener, even when I watch his highlights Im looking for a big time throw and all I see are wide open guys making better than needed catches.
Either way, whoever they draft will immediately become my favorite player to watch

I want to give you shit about this but I'm doing the same thing with Young/Bama/Tua.

Bottom line though is these are all different dudes and how they handle things might be way different. Young seems more grounded than Tua. Hall seems waaay more grounded than Wilson.

This class feels like it's gonna have one or two guys that stick in the NFL from that midrounds blob of options. Guessing the guys at the top underwhelm but someone hits on a guy somewhere in those midrounds.

Jaren Hall out of Brigham Young. Yes, he's older (will be twenty-five) and has some injury concerns, but he's as dynamic as you'll find in the late rounds as an athlete and as a quarterback.
Jaren Hall is my guy. If we take any QB in this draft, I'm REALLY hoping its him.
Looking at a Rams interview list they met with Jaren Hall twice. Think that has to indicate some interest eh?

He fits the profile of a guy McVay would love. Seems very sharp in interviews. His ball floats a bit but he gets it there. WCO type QB through and through.

I think this is a very strong indicator of their interest. I just hope they don't have to take him too high now due to all the other teams interest. A small trade down in 3rd for a 4th rounder and I'd be happy with it. Then we can take Harrison Jr next season :laugh3:

I know you guys don't believe me about being told things, but I was told about the Ram's interest in Tune a while back and mentioned him multiple times previously. Apparently, the Ram's interest in him is real and legit, i.e. not part of liar's season. Other than the arm strength he has a lot going for him in regards to scheme fit for McVay and his offense. Arm strength can be improved. Tune has accuracy and arm strength out to almost 25 yds which is strong enough for 95% of the throws he would make. He could carve out a nice career as a solid tier 2 backup in the NFL. I don't see him as becoming an elite QB but as a guy that can come in and win some games in relief. The guy has skills and I would be very happy with him at QB2 behind Stafford.

The only question is where would you take him? If he drops to the third round do you take him then knowing the Rams don't pick again until the 5th round and Tune is thought to be on some boards a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Expecting him to drop to the Rams in the 3rd might be a reach muchless the 5th round.

I’m not wasting a 2-4th round pick on a guy who profiles as a nice backup QB. Not when we have so many other needs. 5-7th round yes (5th debatable). But not earlier - unless there is some high ceiling involved for him to potentially hit.

Round 6 or 7.

I'm sure our future backup QB is in this draft. Not sure about the next starter though.

I agree. But it feels like a good way to approach this is to take a QB they like mid to late, and if they don't hit on him then maybe he's a backup so they get some return and get right back in it with another shot at another QB next year.

Most 6th and 7th round QBs aren't really going to provide quality backup for a year or two. To think a 6th round QB can come in and start for one or two games and win them is wishful thinking. They dropped that far because they are RAW or have issues with their technique, etc. Purdy is an aberration, not the rule. Most 1st round picks struggle in their rookie year.

McVay's offense is QB driven more so than other schemes. So without a good QB2 it's Stafford or bust? Why not a UDFA as a backup.....oh wait they did that for a couple of years and it didn't work. They could have signed one of the many vet retreads which would be better than a late round QB. They are drafting a QB IMO not to save money but to fill the QB2 position with a quality player. I would rather see them trade up into the first round and grab a potential successor to Stafford than waste a 6th round pick on a QB2.

IMO the fact they didn't sign a retread vet is significant and points to them drafting a QB in this draft and I would think it would be no later than the 5th round.

I voted other because I don't see any QB we take this year replacing Stafford if he retires in 2 years. Starters usually come from the 1st rounds obviously there are outliers, Brady, Wilson, Brees that become stars but like I said they are outliers. I don't care who they take at QB this year as long as the pick is great for a backup.

The OTHER check was for Caleb Williams next year he will set up the franchise up for tons of success for the next 10 years+ barring injuries.

Looks like we are digging in deep and taking a hard look at these QB's later on in the draft.

Aidan O'Connell (Pro Day) and Clayton Tune (workout) are two prospects it looks like we have an interest in. Once it seemed like Mayfield wasn't coming back at the beginning of March I started looking at these late round QB's but low and behold I only had to look at these two posters:

Jan17
I like Clayton Tune a whole lot, I've seen plenty of his games and am not sure why folks say he lacks arm strength
Release is super quick and the kid has some wheels.
@dieterbrook and @Corbin

Tune has a great short quick release with some good power. The deep ball looks good too. I hope the Rams draft him.

Give me Shawn Mannion! ~ @CGI_Ram
In the 1st round oh we don't have one thank God no Sean Mannion and his zillion yards he threw for and his super abysmal completion percentage he ended his career at OSU. Great pick could have had Lael Collins a 1st rounder that had gotten intertwined with a big issue in Louisiana which turned out not to true in terms of him. If we had done any research instead of the stupid groupthink that went around dropping a top 15 pick to UDFA where Dallas signed him we could have had him at the end of the 3rd for our compensatory pick.

Exactly agree. We had 2 UDFAs as backups so picking a guy between the 5th - 7th round. I like Dorian Thompson out of UCLA due to his 69.5% completion percentage and great escape running ability. He may go from the 5th round to UDFA.

He is definitely on the Rams radar.

BYU QB Jaren Hall Reportedly Drawing Interest From Four NFL Teams

Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network reported that "the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, and Indianapolis Colts all have interest in Hall...In fact, Indianapolis has compared Hall to Jalen Hurts, the quarterback developed by new head coach Shane Steichen," Pauline said. He also mentioned the LA Rams as a team to watch.
Very well spoken and charismatic. Sounds like he's got a future as an announcer after his pro career.
