I know who it is that was me being facetious.

Seriously though, I mentioned above that I don't watch much college football (everything NFL but little NCAA). So when I saw the post. I figured Cade Klubnik was was a college QB but I had no idea who he played for, and had to look him up!

Klubnik ... that's a funny name.

well, seeing them develop Wolford and Perkins didn't work out for them. I came away very unimpressed with what I saw when we needed them. not a good look. confidence is not high on his ability to pick or even coach up a young un. go rams.
Is this supposed to be blue font?
I thought McVay "developed" Jared Goff pretty darned well. Wolford and Perkins? They were UDFA for a reason. Cant make chicken salad out of chicken shit

Also and btw Haener is still my huckleberry. Kid played under a big burden, read that he threw 40+ passes 12 times in his collegiate career. Was gonna count them to make sure that was right but didn't want to take off my shoes.

McVay loves him some QBs that can handle a passhappy burden. :laugh4:
Shit I don’t know what’s going to happen like anyone else but to me this feels like a draft where they get late round value steals due to where our picks are. It seems Haener will need to be taken for sure within our first two picks.

I'm going with Caleb ftw
Shit I wish, that means the tank is full on! Lol I don’t see us doing a full on tank, more like a shitty season and a trade up to take our target.

Since I don't watch much college football, should the Rams use a mid-round-pick on a QB, I do not have a favorite for the selection. However, if they do draft a QB, I don't see that player as the 'Rams next Quarterback'.

That's probably no more than the Rams' next Back-up QB.

Is there a single current NFL-starter that was not selected in the top three rounds ... in the top-100?

Maybe one or two. I think somewhere between 22-24 of the current projected NFL starting-QBs were first rounders; and most of the others were drafted in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. (EDIT: Prescott was a 4th round pick)

I would like to see an up-grade at back-up-QB but I don't see drafting one of these players as the future Rams' starter.
Nothing in the thread title states “ the Rams next starting QB” , just that very likely the next QB to join our team is being worked out and fans given a heads up who are the more than likely candidates.

Also, with recent trends late round QB’s are starting to step in and make an impact in starting situations due to injury. We need ours.

It just seems to be a waste using a 3rd, 4th or 5th rounder on a QB. We have too many holes throughout the roster to waste on a back up QB who we hope will never have to play in Stafford's place.
Tune and O’Connell are targeted to be 6-7 round picks unless someone gets froggy with a run at QB’s. Going to be interesting to see what transpires!
Jaren Hall out of Brigham Young. Yes, he's older (will be twenty-five) and has some injury concerns, but he's as dynamic as you'll find in the late rounds as an athlete and as a quarterback.
I like JarenHall too! I wouldn’t mind him or a late round flyer either!
All I know is that it appears very likely they are going that route, drafting a QB and having him for 4 years to develop. McVay saw it first hand with Cousins, and now for the 1st time, can actually pick the QB he wants
I’m just curious if we tank on purpose or not and/or trade up for a QB next year too. I’m very curious to see how this goes.

IDK man he seemed to develop Jared Goff pretty good.

Looking at a Rams interview list they met with Jaren Hall twice. Think that has to indicate some interest eh?

He fits the profile of a guy McVay would love. Seems very sharp in interviews. His ball floats a bit but he gets it there. WCO type QB through and through.

He is definitely on the Rams radar.

BYU QB Jaren Hall Reportedly Drawing Interest From Four NFL Teams

Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network reported that "the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, and Indianapolis Colts all have interest in Hall...In fact, Indianapolis has compared Hall to Jalen Hurts, the quarterback developed by new head coach Shane Steichen," Pauline said. He also mentioned the LA Rams as a team to watch.

Haener is a slightly built dude with a marginal arm so I figure he's a late rounder like many of these other options. I figure he's a backup most likely down the road due to all that. But at least that way you're not taking a small QB up high like the Panthers are about to.

I just like his competitive drive, feels like a very good chance if you take him you get a backup at least.

Now with some of these other guys maybe you get more upside. Tune for example seems like he's got a bit more than Haener. So does Hall and the UCLA kid. Honestly I don't care all that much, I trust McVay and whoever we take I'm gonna enjoy watching him develop. But I just have a feeling Haener won't be a guy you miss on.

After watching that interview on Hall I really like what he's about. Seems real grounded and his film is solid too. Guy can move well in and out of the pocket, smart, so it's all good if they go with him.

I hear you on Haener, looks like he projected to go in the mid 5th round somewhere. I love his TD/INT ratio and his comp % !

The only thing throws be off is his size, I know he's not Kyler Murray midget size but I'm a firm believer if you don't have elite traits like Drew Brees you're going to struggle more often than not.

Honestly, I think there is a chance we double dip in QB's to if both are available late round (6,7) still. I have a feeling since 9 teams have worked with Tune he might even go in the 5th round so a team can be certain to grab him before someone else does.

Can you even imagine Hall and Tune as developmental QB's under McVay? That would be fucking nuts! I'd be pressed to say we would at least develop one of them into a Cousins type of QB at the least.

Bo Nix in 2024...I like his size and mobility....if he doesn't get hurt late last year I think Oregon wins the PAC-12 and possibly qualifies for the Natty tournament...He has some Justin Herbert in him....

I keep ending up drafting Tune in the 6th round of mock draft simulators. Just seems to fall that way.

I would be happy with that, instead of drafting the statue of liberty in Aidan O'Connell.
