Looks like we are digging in deep and taking a hard look at these QB's later on in the draft.

Aidan O'Connell (Pro Day) and Clayton Tune (workout) are two prospects it looks like we have an interest in. Once it seemed like Mayfield wasn't coming back at the beginning of March I started looking at these late round QB's but low and behold I only had to look at these two posters:

Jan17
I like Clayton Tune a whole lot, I've seen plenty of his games and am not sure why folks say he lacks arm strength
Release is super quick and the kid has some wheels.

Feb 21
So much love for Mike White, so much love. I agree that White would be a viable backup QB along with drafting a more athletic QB that can use his legs like Jaren Hall or Clayton Tune.

As to Baker, seems that Washington would be a good landing spot as we can see what Eric Bieniemy can do, when he's actually calling plays.

Credit for you two chums, I should have been reading our forums instead! You mentioned him in January and February!lol

Anyways, I've warmed up a lot to O'Donnell as of late, I just been kind of locked in on Clayton Tune, guy seems like a baller and has some dog in him. 2 years behind Stafford? Yes thank you!

I'm just sold on his last two years there, 3 to 1 and a 4 to 1 TD/INT ratio with a 67.8 avg. comp% and that's not even his best attributes IMO, Clayton can process very fast.

I wish I watched games of his last season, @dieterbrock what did you notice watching whole games?

PS he has met with 1/4 of the league already and we have flew down to Houston to work him out.

I don't dislike either though of the two I like Tune more. Looking forward to a new QB depth chart, it should make preseason a little more fun than usual too.

Also and btw Haener is still my huckleberry. Kid played under a big burden, read that he threw 40+ passes 12 times in his collegiate career. Was gonna count them to make sure that was right but didn't want to take off my shoes.

McVay loves him some QBs that can handle a passhappy burden. :laugh4:

I really like Tune. He seems like a good fit for our offense and has NFL traits.

His arm could be stronger, but he’s a good passer. LA is a good spot for his potential.

I don’t know who it will be. Every time I believe I have a gauge on the direction of the Rams roster, I am wrong. Hopefully the young guy is a stud ready to learn and take over in a few years.

Since I don't watch much college football, should the Rams use a mid-round-pick on a QB, I do not have a favorite for the selection. However, if they do draft a QB, I don't see that player as the 'Rams next Quarterback'.

That's probably no more than the Rams' next Back-up QB.

Is there a single current NFL-starter that was not selected in the top three rounds ... in the top-100?

Maybe one or two. I think somewhere between 22-24 of the current projected NFL starting-QBs were first rounders; and most of the others were drafted in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. (EDIT: Prescott was a 4th round pick)

I would like to see an up-grade at back-up-QB but I don't see drafting one of these players as the future Rams' starter.

It just seems to be a waste using a 3rd, 4th or 5th rounder on a QB. We have too many holes throughout the roster to waste on a back up QB who we hope will never have to play in Stafford's place.

Jaren Hall out of Brigham Young. Yes, he's older (will be twenty-five) and has some injury concerns, but he's as dynamic as you'll find in the late rounds as an athlete and as a quarterback.

All I know is that it appears very likely they are going that route, drafting a QB and having him for 4 years to develop. McVay saw it first hand with Cousins, and now for the 1st time, can actually pick the QB he wants

well, seeing them develop Wolford and Perkins didn't work out for them. I came away very unimpressed with what I saw when we needed them. not a good look. confidence is not high on his ability to pick or even coach up a young un. go rams.

Are you trying to communicate that Kyle Shanahan can develop QB's better?
