CJ won't be expensive since every team feels like they can replicate that production in the draft.

The only RBs who are getting paid are the super stars.

I mean, look at LeGarrette Blount. That guy was INSTRUMENTAL in both the Pats and Eagles winning it all IN CONSECUTIVE YEARS, and he never got above journeyman status.

Oddest thing I've seen in all the years of FA.

So, no, I don't think CJ will be super expensive and due to his age, no one is going to want to lock him up long term. At 28 next year, he's too old for a big 3 year deal.

I think once we win it all, that Malcolm Brown will have more juice due to his age, actually, as well as production and if Les Snead is amenable, they could easily come to a reasonable 2-3 year deal.
Blount has battled suspensions his whole career and was over 30 when New England let him go.
CJ is only 2 years older than Brown

It wasn’t that long ago that no RB went in the first round.

And with Lindsay, Penny and other RBs showing up as rookies, I think other than transcendent RBs, the market will be soft.

I’d be surprised if CJ got more than 2 yrs, 8M with no more than $2M guaranteed. He had all year to be picked up for dirt cheap and had no real takers even as he showed all he could do in 2017.

He was with Carolina all year and got paid 1.75 mill. They cut him in late November.
Rb are valued again as we’ve seen Gurley, Elliot, Fournette, Mcaffrey & Barkley all drafted in the top 10 in the last 4 drafts

Blount made $2million this year as a veteran bruiser in a RBBC role. That's probably close to CJ's value on the market. I would be surprised if he gets more than $5 million on a two year deal.

I love CJ. Every week he impresses me by playing with all he's got. He'll get a contract next year, but this year is our run and we're lucky to have him.
On the other hand, I'm also very confident that Brown would have had big numbers too over the last few weeks, if he were not injured. He's better with out of the backfield with swing passes / screens as well. At least so far.........

Time will tell ? My wish is he helps The Rams win the SuperBowl & gets paid !! I hope he can give The Rams a comp pick !!

I know McVay is high on Malcom Brown. He has improved a lot & has been solid for The Rams. CJ has actually been unbelievable in his role. He complements Gurley so well & takes away the extra contact on. Gurley with his knee & being able to stay fresh , helps wear down a defense.
—Without CJ Anderson I don’t think The Rams beat Dallas, or at least have the momentum they have coming into this weekend. Brown has never been a 100 yard guy, as CJ has been even with Gurley playing.

He's been fine - but he's never gotten the workload that Anderson had against the Cowboys, with Gurley in the lineup. That tells me that when push comes to shove, McVay prefers Anderson. Now, how much is the question - Anderson will cost more, which will affect other signings, so Brown could still be the choice once cap space is factored in. OTOH, I have to think that McVay really would like the two headed rushing attack that Anderson has allowed.

Ideally you want to keep both of them... remember Brown averaged almost 5 ypc this year and honestly could likely do just as well in the same role as CJ. I wouldn't be so sure that CJ is going to get huge offers on the open market... he'll be best in a shared situation, and I doubt that McVay is going to be moving too much away from the strategy of using both CJ and Gurley looking at how impactful it can actually be...

the odd man out is Davis.... I'm keeping Gurley, CJ, Brown and Kelly …. and keeping a diverse run-first style of offense

The two headed attack is what will win The Rams a SuperBowl !! Hate to say NE had a two headed attack as well which might help them prevail as well. ?

CJ is a better fit for our heavy use of zone runs.

CJ also has quick moves, cuts and vision that Brown doesn't.

Brown is a solid backup in our system but CJ can carry the team if Gurley is down.

I think the feeling around the NFL will be CJ benefitted from a great Oline with the Rams. We therefore may be able to resign him for a reasonable price. His production with the Rams vs the other teams he played on will bring his value down.

CJ and if 5 mil is his asking price I'll pay it gladly. When mcvay decides to run the ball to set up the play action, the rams are unstoppable.
Next year all 31 other teams will have to respect cj in the backfield.
I agree. This year everyone is looking for a McVay clone. Next year: a CJ Anderson clone.

Gurley is the straw that stirs the drink... Anderson filled that void perfectly in Gurley’s absence - so if we can keep him that feels like a huge insurance policy.

I am not saying Brown couldn’t fill this void, but Anderson did.

This offense can still be dangerous with Anderson full time and that would sure feel good heading into next year. Running backs take a beating. Having 2 starters is big.

Brown's probably a little more powerful but CJ seems like he cuts through holes a little better. Seems quicker. But its a moot point. Someone's gonna offer CJ more money that we could. Maybe Brown's injury is a blessing in disguise. I doubt anyone's gonna offer him more than we can. And he's familiar with the system. You could do worse than Brown as far as backup running backs go.

Kamara & Ingram are not bad at all. Throw in Hill & Seam Payton has some nice weapons.

— Snead was against having an extra RB like CJ Anderson during drafts. I think this changes things moving forward how ever that looks.

McVay is always trying to progress his offensive mind.
