Agreed on the hit rate, starting in the 3rd la la la lick balls. I see thing 'Boom can be a OT in this league. Time is still needed of course

One thing Boom needs to work on is his Anchor technique. The guy gets completely blown up at times and it's a bit concerning. You see it more at Guard than Tackle but it's still a concern against Bull rushers.

He's young, that's his biggest upside, he has time to learn the position and polish his techniques. Hopefully his injury is progressing and he'll be ready to step up early in the season.

I could see a more shocking move like trading Ramsey for a top ten pick (plus a later pick) to land your future LT as more likely than moving both #2's where you can get good cheap labor and or convert those into even more picks.

@PhillyRam re: moving Ramsey. I wouldn't simply because hes a true proven lockdown willing tackler that can allow us to roll coverage the other way. Donald & Ramsey are what we need to build around. I gotta say a front line of Robinson & Brockers appears to be very good

Not saying I would. Just saying that would be maybe less surprising or would make more sense. Those two 2nds are just huge in terms of the 4yrs of cheap labor they provide.

And you could turn those two picks into maybe 3 or 4 top 100 picks where there is great value in this draft.

I just don't get moving up unless you had an organizational paradigm shift in thinking over these last few months. Then you might have decided to completely retool and then move Ramsey for high picks and cap space.

Moving him for a Becton or Wirfs, if you feel they are franchise LTs, then that might make sense considering the offense you run.

First off this has got to be a misprint. I have NEVER seen Cleveland that high in any single mock the majority of mocks he is in the second round. Why would the Rams bet the farm even if they had the ammo to get to #10 to take a 2nd Tackle after at least 4 went off the board I don't get it. Maybe if Wirfs or Becton is still there maybe.

I would only trade into the first round (end of the first) for Kenneth Murray he is a big run stuffing rangy linebacker who instantly makes D better and solidifies the ILB position for years and that trade is obtainable ONLY if he falls several spots I gave seen him as high as 17 low as 30.
Whelp, aside from Cleveland, you are pointing out a big mistake that fans make. Mocks are worthless. When taken together, the comprise the group-think of amateurs in evaluating real football talent and football IQ. Snead himself says they don't think of football talent as "This guy is a first rounder or that guy is a fourth rounder," they just stack their football board using their own requirements.

As for Cleveland, he doesn't sound like a top 10 pick. I haven't read anyone say that he is a fast learner or that he just loves football and would do it for free because he loves it so much. No more Greg Robinson's with freakish ability but are dumb as a box of hammers. No more Alex Barron's who really wanted to play in the NBA, but did football for the money. No more continually concussed, converted tight ends like second over all pick Jason Smith who former GM Billy Devaney still can't understand "how we missed so badly?"

I'd rather just stand and pick BPA and screw picking someone less talented for need, because that rarely works. UDFA's can be picked for need.

I think the need the Rams have at LT (far greater than most fans care to realize) is what would drive a trade up if it were to happen. A 39 year old LT is a short term solution at best. It's a huge need and the Rams don't have a first round pick this year or next. So if they can figure out a way to eliminate said need it would be a massive benefit for us in the future.

And btw they might be able to find one at 52. Much less likely to hit on it there, but still possible. Still, if they elect to move up and solve it I will be behind it. Goff is the future of this offense. He has to be protected.

Get ready to duck

More than one or two hate the idea of trading up...

Are you sure they said 10? Their second-round pick looks more likely looking at the value chart ;) I would hate it if I were right lol
Hey damnit! If they would commit our 2 seconds for the 10th overall I’d call that trade in myself! Lol

Honestly if Wirfs isn’t there or whoever else they rated highly as can’t miss I’d trade down and get a second and/or 3rd rounder additional tbh.

The math don’t add up.

Too many needs to give
Up picks for a LT when Boom has yet to be tried at LT.

If a tackle falls to RD 2 i can see us moving from 52 to 40ish possibly.

But we might also move up in RD 2 for Jonathan Taylor, Clyde Edwards or Baun. If they fall.

People ignore the fact that Edwards can play LT if they want to go that route. But why pay millions to resign Whitworth for really a two-year deal then give away both 2nd round picks for a guy that won't play until his 3rd year? This is what I've been saying is that the minute they signed Whitworth for essentially 2 years, it means they are going to go with who they have be it, Edwards or Noteboom.

It's also why I think they will move Edwards to RT this year to give them that option to move him to LT if needed. Evans by his physical metrics is really an OG not OT at this level.

I really think people should look at what the Rams have done and the contracts they have signed. Whitworth is the Ram's LT for the next two years. His contract is backloaded to next year to give the Ram's cap space this year. Why use that draft capital for an LT when he won't play until year 3? Blythe is signed for one year. His signing coincided with Allen's virus diagnosis so he's a backstop fill in if needed for one year just like Whit was signed to give Noteboom time to heal and train. All signs that the team is sticking to their original plan regarding the o-line. Just like they resigned Shelton in as a long term backstop if Allen can't return and if he does then Shelton is their depth at C long term. These aren't random moves by the team. It shows their intentions and that they are working off a plan.

This team needs a SAM OLB to play behind Ebukam who is in his contract year and will draw a whole lot of attention as a FA. The Rams could easily be outbid and his loss would be serious because they have absolutely no one who can play SAM OLB as well as him. Most college OLB can't play SAM in the NFL immediately. It's a position someone must be groomed to play just like they did with Samson.

Also, RB is more important right now more than LT because they can't go into the season with only Brown and Kelly behind Henderson. Both lack breakaway speed and both have only average acceleration which won't do if you are playing an inside power scheme like I think they will. A RB like Dobbins is expected to be on the board when the Rams pick and he's a bit undersized but has the speed and acceleration they want in that kind of scheme. He will need coaching up on how to read the blocks so he's not an immediate starter but as a rotational backup he would be better than Brown or Kelly. I can see them going with Henderson, Dobbins, and Brown and I don't see Kelly making this team.

This team needs a DE as Michael Brockers is only on a two-year deal. Now would be the time to draft one. They have Okoronkwo but beyond that, they really don't have much and will need someone to compete with Ogbo for the start once Brockers is gone.

If they trade up IMO, it will be with a package of Havenstein, Hill and perhaps a 3rd rounder next year as they expect 2 extra 3rd round picks in 2021. They could grab a high second-rounder or low first-round pick. That would probably get them a good Edge rusher or OLB which are far more important right now than a LT. I simply don't see them giving away two very good second-round picks. A trade up will probably include the aforementioned players to clear cap and give them room.

Unlike @BonifayRam I think we've seen enough of Noteboom. I think the Rams had too.

Bleak? I call it pathetic. I had high hopes for Noteboom, but he hasn't shown anything to keep me dreaming. The only other player in that draft that I was excited about was Obo. This is what you get when n your GM 's head is actually bigger than his talent, or in other words when he thinks he can trade back and find quality starters. I really don't understand what Snead has been thinking. I do get the part about trading picks for proven talent, but the trading back just seems like he thinks that he's the smartest guy in the room. This 2018 draft is complete garbage. Stop trying to be Bill Belichick Les!! Sit tight and do like most other the do and pick the best player available at a position of need.

what in the hell?

he didn't trade back. they traded their 1st rounder for cooks and the 2nd rounder for watkins the year before.

your rant is out of place with that draft.

A rookie OT plays 6 regular season games at a position he's NEVER played before and is really not a good fit for and we've seen enough of him already?? Unless there is something serious going on with his injury that we don't know about I would hope the Rams would be so quick to give up on him.

Hopefully, the extra roster spots will keep Kromer from playing an Left Tackle in Noteboom and a Center in Blythe at Guard.

Rams are considering to move up into round 1. I believe it was the 10th pick Browns for both 2nds. Target is said to be OT Cleveland

Not B.S. here. Just saying I heard this driving to work. It was on the update segment

No disrespect to Cleveland, who might turn out to be fine player, but this makes no sense unless you live in an alternate universe like the Bears when they traded up for Trubisky. They could have stayed put or traded down to get him. Or they could have stayed put or traded down and picked Patrick Mahomes or DeShaun Watson.

You don't trade up at high cost to get to a spot at which the player you want shouldn't, and is not going to be, drafted at that pick by anyone else. No indication that other teams value Cleveland so highly as #10.

More likely Cleveland might be available and worthy of consideration somewhere in the second round. The Rams could have a shot at him there if they like him enough.

I've seen him at OLT a little and enough at guard to think he's not strong enough, which he should be by now, and really struggles locating defenders to block at the second level. I think both of those traits are important for guard or tackle.

Before scolding me check your facts Kurtsy. The Rams traded up once in that draft and traded BACK four times.

that's a given.

your rant made it seem like he traded back a round to the end of the 3rd in that draft. they hardly had any picks. he needed to move around to get more picks.

and there's nothing wrong with the way he drafts. he has values on players, identifies which players the rams will target and moves around the draft board to try and get them in the area he thinks they will drop to. it certainly doesn't make him look like he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room.

#57 and #84 would be about the same value as Cleveland's pick at #41, which is probably about the spot to draft Ezra.

He should be strong enough by now? Most rookies are in need of an NFL strength program entering the league. And didn't this kid come from an Air Raid type passing offense? How often was he blocking defenders on the second level in college? Or even getting in a 3 point stance? But, then he joins the Rams and Kromer has him training in 2-4 different positions over the course of a summer?

If he were a complete player entering the league, chances are he wouldn't have still been on the board 25 picks into the 3rd round of the draft.

Hey, he might turn out to be a bad player with more time. Then again, he might turn out to be another Wayne Gandy who disappointed early, but developed into a pretty good OT in time. But, for anyone to know this early is amazing to me.
