Is Jay Cutler on his way out in Chicago?

The Chicago Bears need a scapegoat for a season that fell far short of expectations. The scenario at hand could prove to be bad news for the city’s least-favorite villain. Now in his sixth season as a Bear, Jay Cutler has delivered just one playoff berth to the windy city and doubt has crept into the minds of fans and media as to Cutler’s worth on a bad team.

At his best, Cutler’s persona is comparative to Clint Eastwood’s character in the classic film “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”. At his worst, Cutler reminds us of Eeyore of Winnie the Pooh fame. Unconcerned with the world around him, Cutler is a badass with a bad attitude, and this combination could spell his end in Chicago.

Hmm... Aloof yet talented - will he play for Fisher?

In a division full of great defenses he'd throw even more picks. No thank you.

I think he's talented but I'd rather go with a young guy.

Honestly, Chicago has way larger problems than Jay Cutler. I think they'd regret letting go of him.

Depends on the salary. I don't like our options beyond Bradford who can't be relied on because I'm assuming we won't be able to get one of the top two QBs in the draft.

In that scenario, I would NOT trade for Cutler but if he hit FA and would sign for a reasonable amount for two or so years. Why not? You could do better but he's an average starting QB that we could get to the playoffs with.

I don't know.
He has some very good weapons over there. He should be playing better imo.

I'm just wondering if Fish can bring out the best in him. I've seen him have some great games, and he does have a passer rating over 91 and 26 TD's...(to go with his 15 picks and a whole lotta 'tude)

The production is an upgrade over what we have now

I would love to have Cutler! I simply have never seen a more talented QB. Granted he looks like Jeff George now, but that arm is just electric. As much as I respect Bradford's talent, I would cut bait in a hot second to have a chance to turn Cutler loose with this receiving corps!

Like Jrry32 said though, it all depends on salary.

I doubt it. I don't think there is bringing out the best in Cutler. He is who he is. But he's a guy who you can win with. Especially if you don't put the game on his shoulders.

Martz thought that Cutler was the greatest that he ever saw, until he tried to coach him.

I think you nailed it with the Jeff George comparison. It's uncanny, from top to bottom.

If you can't get the job done with Jeffrey, Marshall, Bennett, Forte and that line, then you won't be able to get the job done here.

Jeff George 2.0 is right.

No thanks. I dont think hes very good.

His problem (IMHO) is that since HS he's been blessed with a howitzer of an arm - and he's made a living on squeezing balls into tight windows that other guys couldnt throw into. Thats great. But he's never learned to anticipate receivers and throw them open - so you see him make a lot of throws a second too late. Most of the time his arm strength lets him get away with it - but too often defensive backs jump it. Thats why he throws so many picks. Its not mental mistakes or anything like that - but a fundamental flaw in the way he plays the position.

Cutler has missed 12 games in the three previous seasons. Not out-for-the-year type injuries but he's not exactly an iron man.

Between that and his streaky play I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable depending on him. Isn't dependability our concern right now?

Rather have another option, for sure.

Dude got far outplayed by Josh McCown.

Ideally, the system the Rams want to install is one where the QB doesn't have to throw all the time but when he does, makes good decisions. That isn't Cutler.

I haven't been a huge fan of Cutler's but could see him potentially doing well in this system and environment with Fisher and Schotty... mostly Fisher. He is as his name says " a Fisher of men"

I'd sooner claw my eyes out. I would rather see a rookie QB start from day one, with all of his learning mistakes..than see Cutler throw maddeningly perfect throws, along just as many INTS......Seriously, I woud start doubting this organizations leadership if they did this.
