Hey, I don't mind the threadjack. At least things didn't go in the direction myself and others feared it would go. One of our members used to do a similar thing when we were at RRF, he'd post recipes some of which were quite good.

As far as my reading habits go:

Since the thread hijack is complete...

For a good sci-fi read I recommend the Uplift series by David Brin.

Yeah, that's another bonus I hadn't thought of, no more Peter King. :yay:

PK isn't nearly as bad as Florio. He usually saves the SJW stuff for the end of his columns. I predict that will change once he hooks up with Florio. "By KING FOOLIO" should be the byline on all their articles from now on.

Spend enough time here reading through the threads and you will eventually get the answer you seek for your question.

Bingo - kinda like porn - you'll know it when you see (read) it.

I haven't read a lot of sci-fi, but I have read the Foundation series, and really enjoyed it. I also recommend Dan Simmons Hyperion series, and his non sci-fi books as well.

you guys that like Sci Fy, if you haven't already, read some Issac Asimov's foundation and empire
train

I keep saying we’re really close to Psychohistory. They’ll call it behavioral analytics or societal analytics or maybe Omnilytics... but it’s coming.

Stephen R Donaldson’s Chronicles of Thomas Covenant is one of the best ever.

Most stunning beginning I’ve ever read in sci-if.

Read it almost 60 years ago - turned me into a sci-fi fan at an early age - and imo the foundation series may be the best ever. In fact thanks man - gonna read it again.

A friend recommended that to me years ago, very cool concept, though very time I check it out on goodreads I see how so many can’t get past loathing the main character for his actions in the first book. That same friend recommended the Dresden Files and I ended up reading all 17 books so far :) Not sci-fi but I just couldn’t put them down. Yeah I’m a nerd :)

Yeah, that first book is ROUGH.

Makes Michael Moorcock look super tame.

YES! I love the Dresden Files. I just went to a book singing in Austin and had my copy Brief Cases signed by Jim Butcher. Goodreads... Isn't where I'd go for book recommendations.
