I agree. Build a dominate offensive line and good things will happen. Don't force a QB pick.that would be my idea. if one of those two somehow fall into second then do it unless someone offers another ridiculous trade for them. or unless someone else huge falls in our lap in the 2nd. but our first pick needs to be a top OL. wouldn't mind a slight trade up either if there's a QB Snisher really wants. but an Oline that rivals the talent of the Emmit Smith days is priority for a healthy Sam. he needs to be top ten in least QB sacks and hits. and another big but productive FA OL signing is important. that's where some restructured Bradford money needs to go. how could Bradford argue with that if his money is going to the men protecting his lively hood.
I think Cook would go pretty high in the first. If he makes it to our first round pick I think it's a no brainer to pick him.I really want Connor Cook to come out, I was wavering on him before but he's our best chance at a franchise QB in the mid first to second round, imo. He's this year's Derek Carr, who I was also high on last year.
I did mention I was picking nits there - right? He'll have likely (hopefully) sat out about a season and a half. Still I don't think the time away is as key as the injuries themselves. It is tough to say you can count on him because the injury was to his ACL and neither one of them actually looked like hard blows or tweaks. Whereas other injuries would be of a lesser concern. Regardless, I'm not really disagreeing with you. It's more that I see people exaggerate something to further a point. Sam has been out way more than anyone should feel comfortable with and I agree that you have to hedge your bets as far as his health is concerned and the future of the position.Right now, it's just over a year but it'll be almost a two year gap between the last time he played and his next shot to play in a regular season game which was my point.
It's funny because I have been very critical of Jameis. But if he fell to us without our having to trade up, I would snatch the guy up in a red hot second. There is a big risk there but I think we have a group now that would not allow him to be a distraction It would just be up to him to not self destruct. If he fell to us, I think he'd also come to us with a lot more humbling of a draft experience than many early draftees.I hate the very notion that the Rams "have to draft a QB". That line of thinking puts the team in a position of weakness. I would not touch Winston under any circumstances, but if a guy other than him were to fall into a spot where need meets value, cool! The fact is though, this is not the draft to be in desperate need of a QB with the rest of the league waiting to hear how much of your future you are prepared to mortgage. I say let the draft come to you, this team is too close to overreach for a QB of the future when there are real needs that need to be addressed now.
I would have no problem at all if the Rams went into next Year with Bradford, Hill, and Davis. The experience the latter two got this year could be huge! If Bradford breaks down again, the team can go all in on Hackenberg, or someone else that might emerge between now and then. If Bradford comes back strong, you have your QB for the next 5-7 years without pulling a desperation move.
Too funny. Glad you were THAT guy because to be honest, it was bugging the hell out of me too. But then I had the good taste not to say anything.I hate to be that guy, but I simply cannot stand it anymore.
Dominate is a freaking VERB.
Dominant is a freaking ADJECTIVE.

You may not fire to coach but you take away his personnel powers and take a long look at Snead, as well. They HAVE to have a better backup plan for when Bradford goes down. That means a rookie taken high. A rookie may not be able to take us to the SB or even the playoffs next year but at least he'd be there learning for the future. If they had done that last year, the QB would be in his second year and expectations could be a little higher for when Bradford goes down.I've heard some ppl say (God forbid) if Sam goes down next year or something falls apart that Fisher will be out of here. That would be a huge mistake. change a coordinator if you gotta but you don't throw out a head coach that can build and run a team from the ground up

Tyron Smith picked after Locker, JJ Watt drafted after Gabbert, Robert Quinn drafted after Ponder. I wonder what these teams would have done in a redo? If a quality QB is there, take him. If not there is no need to reach.Yea, I'd rather us not reach for a rookie QB out of desperation. If we're taking a rookie QB high, it better be because he's the best value pick available.
No reason to force a QB pick and end up with a Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, or Jake Locker.
I have to amend what I said... I've read a LOT of what Jrry has said and disagreed with a lot, but I have to be fair.
If it turns out that Winston gets some measure of exoneration (probably at a civil trial), then I'd back off my stance of leaving the Rams if they drafted him. Still think it's academic, but it's the principle of the thing.
And I've already admitted that his on field skills are probably the best SINCE Luck. I don't know that he's better. I just don't.
But he's damned clutch, I'll give him that. And he has a way of communicating with his receivers when the protection breaks down so that they know where to go so that THEY can make a play. It's NOT just Winston making a play, it's the pitch and catch...
Without the off-field problems, I think he's a unanimous #1 and Oakland is taking multiple offers for that pick.
For that reason alone, Winston may stay another year. We still don't know. He's still young and a red-shirt sophomore.
He may also look at the idea of going to Tampa or some of the teams he could go to and realize... this ain't a good deal for him, that waiting another year is preferable for that reason, too.
But I wanted to put that out there.
If you can draft a QB and have Bradford it's not doing the same thing. It's giving yourself good options. There most likely won't be a more talented veteran QB than Bradford. He knows the system, so there is no learning curve. It makes sense to bring him back. Then add a guy in the draft along with a quality backup QB.Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result, is the definition of insanity.
That quote encapsulates my feelings on Bradford.
I don't think you have to worry. We're not going to be in position. The team is playing too well right now. And that makes me happy.
I still think our best option will likely be a young backup like Glennon or Garoppolo(still not sure about Jimmy G). Or Carr on the small chance Oakland traded him.(very minute chance)
