I put it at 90% chance that he will be back and under center opening day. Why wouldn't we bring him back. We are a playoff ready team. No QB we draft will be ready to go day one. And if he plays to his potential he can be a top 10 QB. I think it's a no brainer to bring him back. Load up as many good options you can at the position.
i think its a 100% chance hes back but dont think he will play first month of season. I dont think he will be ready to get back on fielduntil preseason. My bet is Hill starts until Sam is ready. For a developmental guy i like Garrett Grayson

This would be my vote:

1. Sam
2. High Draft Pick
3. Hill
I feel ya on that man but I think it will be

1.Hill
2.Sam
3. High Draft Pick

I don't want to rush Sam back until it's healed and sealed and we don't use him until Nov. or Dec. or if needed. I'm so damned paranoid about him because if this happens again he's over. Make sure that thing is good to go!

I don't think there is such a thing as healed and sealed after two tears to the same knee. We gotta have premiulm depth and try to not act surprised when it happens again, hopefully it won't.

IDK if Palmer reinjured his knee, but he went down on k minimal contact, too.

Does anybody think, or think that Snead and Fisher think, that Davis is that "developmental QB that requires patience?"

I guess I'm just wondering if what we see now is what we are going to have next year. We all agree that there is no point in reaching for a bad QB just to take a QB, so if the value isn't there, is it entirely possible that they think Davis has just as much chance of reaching starter-quality as anybody who could be conceivably available in the second or third round this year? And as such it would be better to use those picks to address other needs?

There is that nasty little pink elephant in the corner called "The Salary Cap"
As it currently stands, SB will cost 16+ mill towards the cap.
Hill is a FA and has played decent. So to get him back, you're looking at another 2-3 mill
Draft a "potential Franchise QB" in round 1 or 2? Looking at another 2-3 mill.
Potentially 20-22 mill for QB?
Yeah, that's trouble

Sam is on the last year of his deal, so a "restructure" isnt going to work, moving that 13 mill salary around makes it guaranteed IIRC
To save $$ they've got to cut him a re-sign him

Which opens up a whole nother can of worms

They are not going to cut him. If they do they will get to watch him take another team to the playoffs. His contract has already been factored into the salary cap. So you really think the Rams would risk losing him just to save some money that they have already spent?

Only 3.5 mill has been figured in to the cap for 2015, the dead money.
The 13 mill salary isnt guaranteed, yet

You may not fire to coach but you take away his personnel powers and take a long look at Snead, as well. They HAVE to have a better backup plan for when Bradford goes down. That means a rookie taken high. A rookie may not be able to take us to the SB or even the playoffs next year but at least he'd be there learning for the future. If they had done that last year, the QB would be in his second year and expectations could be a little higher for when Bradford goes down.
what QB shoukd they have taken last year? and who and what round or how much are they suppose to give up next year for this rookie QB?

I've already stated many times that I would have traded down(said it before the draft and when I found out Buf offered the trade) in case we needed to trade up for a QB. I also said before the draft and after the Joyner pick that I liked Garapolo(I thought he'd go in the first). I'm not saying he would have made much of a difference this year but he probably could next season. The longer they put off getting another quality QB prospect, the longer it will take for that QB to be ready to perform for a team that is mainly waiting for a QB. Garapolo may not be the answer but I like his odds of being able to perform next year better than any QB they take in the draft outside of Winston or Mariota, and I'm not even sure I'd say those two could do better than a guy that's spent a year learning the NFL and the scheme. Whomever they take now, the Rams will have to wait at least another year for him to even be close to ready unless they hit the lottery like Seattle did.

I don't think you have to worry. We're not going to be in position. The team is playing too well right now. And that makes me happy.

I still think our best option will likely be a young backup like Glennon or Garoppolo(still not sure about Jimmy G). Or Carr on the small chance Oakland traded him.(very minute chance)

It's hard to get a read on Glennon, he plays for such a shitty team you don't know exactly how good he is.

Dieter - my bad, you're right, the hit now is 16.5M
Hill is 1.75M, and I doubt a second or third round QB is more than 1.25M/year,
so without a cut and resign, we'd be at 19M worst case. Pretty much the NFL average, and worth the chance.
SB taking less would just be a bonus.

That's true.

Don't get me wrong I'd trade for him but man it would be a tricky bit of back and forth because he looks like he could be one of those second tier types that you CAN win it all with, but appearances can be deceiving.

I'd also worry about him getting hit and hurt. He's very slender.

If he could be had for a 4 or 5 I'd do it.

And for everyone saying Bradford under center by week one and playing in the pre season.......2nd ACL on the same knee requires TWELVE TO EIGHTEEN MONTHS OF REHAB and you cannot keep ignoring that LOL. He may not be cleared to play until well into the season.

I'd keep Sam (obviously on a restructured contract, playing time, injury time, playoff bonus , SB bonus etc) and Shaun, draft a QB (3rd or above) and keep him under wraps for at least 2 years, let him learn the playbook, get up to speed of an NFL pro then start him when Sam's ready to hang up his cleats ;)

NB If we can sign Austin Davis to our practice squad then that would be good too...

The very last thing I want is Bradford back at full price, I'd rather trade 5 first round picks for Winston (OK I wouldn't but...) than go with a full price Bradford.

"Albert Breer of the NFL Network reports the team's front office wants to rework the quarterback's huge cap number. Aside from that potential hurdle, it still wants to give him a chance to prove he can be a franchise cornerstone:"

I want to date Salma Hayek. Of course I'm married, broke, not famous and past my prime, but Aside from that potential hurdle, I'd still like to make it work....

All kidding aside, that is one HUGE hurdle.

Bradford has a say in this too, and its not his fault he got injured. Wouldnt blame him for not wanting a pay cut either.
