I just can't let it go. Taped the walk through, and most likely defensive signal calling. We will never know because the tapes were destroyed.
2 Lombardi's should be in our possession.
Anyone got Dr. Phil's #?

Not to mention the refs DID NOT CALL anything on their defense that was holding every single play. Hard to get open when the DB tackles you before the ball gets there. And on the last drive, we tackled them in bounds, and the refs stopped the clock. Don't get me started. . . . Oh, too late!

I'll tell you a little story that I heard but I've never shared on a Rams board.

Out of the Navy, about 6 years ago, I moved to New Orleans. (just moved back to StL as a side note, and totally stoked! although, Nola's in my soul now haha.)

Anyway, my supervisor, whom was in the National Guard, moonlights at the Superdome as an usher; but during SB XXXVI, the Nat Guard provided security for the teams at their respective hotels. When I first met him I told him where I was from and that I like the Saints (and I do), but my allegiance is with the Rams. He says 'Rams huh?'

And proceeded to tell me this:
He worked security for the Pats. Every night they were in by 8:00pm, heads down as they walked past security to their rooms, Belichick was a dick. Everyone was total business.

His cohort guardsmen for the Rams detail, described his experience as they came in: late, rowdy, and fully enjoying all that New Orleans had to offer. I said, 'Well, if it was early in the week, then that's awesome! Kept em' loose' He basically said that it was early in the week, middle of the week, and later in the week.

That Super Bowl always stuck in my craw too, but I know Chuck would never lie, so I got over the Tape Gate quicker. I'm not saying the whole team indulged or that everyone indulged the night before. Even given a little margin for embellishment by Chuck, maybe the Rams didn't take the SB as seriously as the Pats did (I f@*%$ing hate the Pats!! so this was like acid to my ears).

I don't know if this story will get you off the ledge, but me personally, I stopped blaming the Pats (as much) and thought that maybe the Rams took the Pats a little lighter than they should've. Faulk is a native New Orleanian, I once saw Jim Moher Sr (sp?) at Willie Mae's Scotch House (best fried chicken I've ever had), all as a side note.

I was so devasted after that game for a few years tbh that I wasn't fully recovered when the Steve Smith Panthers beat us via our stupid DB"S we had... and that still wasn't that bad tbh because at least Smith didn't cheat to win. I don't give a crap what anybody says, one loss I will never give up. I hear alot of older Rams posters saying that one vs. the Steelers was hard to take and get over. I can see that especially it being our first one after many playoff disappointments however at least the Steelers didn't cheat all game and before the game, the refs called or didn't call blatant crap in SB 36, and the 79' team wasn't taped before the SB. At least it was fair and square if you take my meaning which is a loss I can handle. Our greats from that game know what happened and have spoken out on it. What a shame..... Goddell should of just admitted what happened and instead ofdenying it and 'protecting the shiled' you admit such so you don't create doubt about ' the shield' and it's legitimacy. Can't stand the Cheatriots are considered a dynasty which should not be the case. If nothing else at the very least a * should be next to that 01' SB.

I'm not a 'Conspiracy Theorist', but don't get me started about the Patriots winning a SB after 9/11. The Super Bowl is the only thing about that year that I think was an inside job.

And their other superbowl "victories". They were caught cheating the regular season years later. I would be willing to bet they cheated every game after 36, and still do since their slap on the wrist punishment.

Mike Martz said in an interview later that there were things about that game that were creepy, that he would have to talk about off camera. He didn't want to lose his job, but he know that game was fixed.

And on the last drive Brady threw to no one to avoid a sack and nothing was called. This was before the rule was expanded to include inside/outside of the pocket.
10 yards and a loss of down would have put a nail into the coffin of that FG drive...of course, thats why it wasn't called.

Would not surprise me at all if the countinued cheating at all. I'd love to see them have gotten some type of punishment that would of actually made a difference.

And I've heard that interview with Martz and others with Warner, Holt, Bruce, Faulk, various linemen and players and they all say something was at the very least suspicious. If Bruce and Warner are saying that makes me wonder myself. I'm not 100% sure but willing to bit I've heard Aaneas Williams comment on it but not to particular on the 'specifics'. One thing I should of recorded interviews since I'm a audio radio junky from 101 sports.

But the Tuck rule can be! Correct me if I'm wrong but that rule was never used before that playoff game in NE right?

Believe with me that we will get more than our share of Roman numerals down the line. We can only control what is in front of us. Go Rams!!!!

It was created out of thin air during the Patriots/Raiders game in the playoffs that same season, yeah.

I do believe in Karma and hard work... I shall expect a minimum of 1 SB to make up for that lose and another one to legitimize Fisher and Co. in the next 5 years! lol

Let it also be noted that there was not a single Personal Foul call the entire game. By the time Warner was hit in the head prior to the pick-6, the Patriots defense knew they had free rein to hit anyone, anyway they want. That was not only irresponsible, but dangerous. Did you see the hit that Dre Bly took on a punt return in the 3rd quarter? Not only was Bly already down, but he was speared, helmet to helmet. Even in 2001, that should have been a penalty.

It's a business, and it's run like a business. Why would any businessman want the Rams to win that year when they could have a team wearing red white and blue and called the "patriots" win it. What a marketing coup, especially given what had transpired earlier in the year. Businessmen have done far worse, like pump n dump the entire nation's real estate market ... so why is this such a stretch?

of course they did. in an interview they showed before the game kurt was talking about winning 5 superbowls. in their minds they just had to show up to win.

having said that they almost pulled it off but the refs holding brady's hand on that last drive killed it for them.
