In other words, how many here are or were in the actual football business, as in playing (college level or higher), or coaching, scouting, analytics, etc (high school or higher) as opposed to just fans like me?

HS 2 way starter with a caveat it was 8 man FB

Never the less, I’ve suffered through “Hell Week“ 4 occasions, banged my helmet on locker room benches for “stick marks” and smelled the fresh cut grass pregame...good times

Had a football scholarship and played two years of LB and special teams at New Mexico State. Go Aggies! Yeah I know it’s a shitty school for football, but it’s div. 1 somehow.

I coached women's professional football for six years. Most of my fellow coaches were former high school coaches. I spent two years coaching DBs before I switched to receivers and QBs. Working 40-50 hours a week and then coaching on top of it was nuts. Most travel was regional, but on the West coast that meant travelling up to 800 miles for away games in your division, even Hawaii once in a while. Playoffs games were anywhere in the U.S. I remember flying across the country on a Friday, coaching on a Saturday, and then flying back to California on Sunday afternoon.

I've lived in seven NFL cities and have "coached" opposing fans on the internet since 1996. Received liquid compensation from Anheisier Busch at times from Iowa hog farmers..... @ottoman89

@MadGoat that's awesome and interesting. How did you get into coaching women's football? Did you need coaching experience first, say high school level or...?

It freaks me out how many people have been to or knows NMSU intimately.

And yes Urlacher was a Lobo of course, our instate rival.

I was one of the few that did not have any coaching experience. Interestingly, one of the coaches had refereed my games years ago and we still saw each other at random sports events. We had talked football a bunch, and he knew I had some interest in coaching.

It was definitely not lingerie football. Most of the women had backgrounds in basketball, softball, lacrosse, but a handful played football in high school. The QB for most of my years coaching was the same size as me, 6 foot 200 lbs with a pretty good arm. I always found the weight differences fascinating. The largest players were basically NFL size, even if they weren't as athletic. You had 350 lb players on the defensive line, but the smallest players were substantially smaller. Our star RB was 125 lbs and incredibly fast.

Ha... I see @Ramer already beat me to the Bundy reference. But just imagine me saying this in Bundy's voice.

I last played in HS... big public HS in FL. Started on offense and defense. On O I played RB but I normally subbed out on every other play. Our coach had a player bring in the play from him on the sideline by giving it to me or the other RB. Played safety and CB on D. Returned punts and covered kickoffs and punts on Teams.

Started playing football at the Pee Wee level in Pop W back in Hawaii and ended my football playing days after HS. Never took a season off. Loved playing.

Meh.. My Uni never recruited like others back then.. otherwise I might have been lucky to go to a Jr. College! Lol

Plus we didn’t play as a homecoming game for Bama or other big schools back then for cash.
