Greg Reid is playing in arena football I think. Last I heard he was playing maybe 30 minutes away from me for the Jacksonville Sharks, he just got an interception in the AFL playoffs.
I wish we would have kept him. I always thought he could have been groomed to be a good CB.

He's ready....

Hahaha. He actually has like 8 or 9 on the year, I don't know if that's impressive or not for Arena league though, they score like 70 PPG.

I wish we would have kept him. I always thought he could have been groomed to be a good CB.

I liked him a lot but he wasn't a very consistent corner. He would give up big plays all too often and he's a small guy. We're trashing Joyner now and he looked a lot better than Reid imo.

Though I'd have kept him on the PS if possible.

Joyner can't be as bad as he's looked last season, can he? He seems to lack any real cover skills...
I do not have any real concerns about Joyner as the starting Nickle. Its playing on the outside corner where he will have issues.
Here you go....now we NEED McGee....See how crap works? .... talking about how we never see McGee...I'm saying how he can play....McGee really has a lil talent, and can play...He's just got to get on the damn field...
We needed him last yr ..& without him we placed Joyner in what would have been his place on the outside where Joyner took his biggest hits. We were lucky to have Roberson. We needed McGee healthy in this early seasons OTA's but he was absent again. We needed McGee in TC but McGee was once again absent. We need McGee now in going into the 2nd week of pre season...where is MCGee ? MIA!
This is the time for Joyner to stand up...I personally think he's not ready yet...Roberson is our best bet RIGHT NOW.
I agree with you fully on Roberson. The rookie Joyner battled through TC with nagging injury. LJ continue with nicks & pain in pre season. LJ started as a rookie in the Nickle & held his own until the serious hammy injury in KC when he was starting on the outside corner post in the place where your man McGee should have been. Joyner took the hits & tears while McGee collected his paycheck in street clothes.
..Imoan Clairborne had some lucky pick and everyone is all over his jockstrap...I hope he can play...don't know...If Bryant can also go in the nickle -slot, it would really be great, but I see him more as a FS, nothing else...Never wanna see McLeod in the slot again
Bryant's value skyrockets if he can show he can hang with the slot receiver over the next few weeks & play both safety posts. I can say the same of Imoan Claiborne if he can show he can hang with the slot receiver & play both outside corner posts. Ref. your big Rod McLeod negative wave comment...I bet all our opponent slot receivers bodies hope that too. Has the Broncos Slot WR Sanders discover what century it is yet from that hit delivered by Rod?
Oh yeah, Brandon McGee can play....for coach & boni Brandon suit up this Monday in the scrimmage so I can say how good you look out there...
You better hope my senile shelf kicks in so I don't remember your thoughts on this above when McGee is MIA once again all over :D.Thanks LACHAMP46for letting me reply;)

Wow this blows. Marcus needs to grab the spot and run with it. McGee is more McNever because he's always hurt. In the Chicago game he was lit up like a witch at the stake in the Salem Witch trails. Please somebody step up just not McGlass.

I'm more comfortable with Roberson than Joyner. Joyner has awful feet and man cover skills.

E.J. Gaines has season-ending surgery
By Nick Wagoner
ESPN.com

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13449209/ej-gaines-st-louis-rams-season-foot-injury

St. Louis Rams cornerback E.J. Gaines will miss the 2015 NFL season after suffering a foot injury in the opening weekend of this year's training camp, the team confirmed Sunday morning.

The injury occurred when receiver Kenny Britt stepped on Gaines' foot as the two got tangled during a practice drill. The result was a Lisfranc injury for Gaines that required surgery and will keep him from returning this season.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch first reported the news of Gaines' surgery.

Gaines emerged as one of the team's starting corners in 2014 after presumed starter Trumaine Johnson suffered a knee injury in the team's third preseason game. Gaines played well enough in Johnson's absence to keep the job when Johnson returned in Week 9.

After posting 70 tackles, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and eight pass breakups in 15 games last year, Gaines was the odds-on favorite to win a competition with Johnson for the outside starting spot this year.

That competition never really took form, though, as Gaines suffered the foot injury less than a week into camp. The Rams had maintained that Gaines was still undergoing tests as recently as Saturday night after Gaines had visited foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte.

Without Gaines, Johnson figures to move back into his starting role with Lamarcus Joyner handling the slot in the nickel package.

I think it's generally a good idea to give a guy more than just his rookie season before throwing the towel in on him.

I haven't thrown in the towel on him one bit. I'm just saying that Joyner still has a long way to go. He plays more like a safety but he lacks the size. He's really a tweener, and I'm just worried he's going to get burned from the slot more often than not because he gets caught looking, and then lacks the quickness to recover.

Didn't Kurt tear up the arena league before......
I thought Reid looked pretty good...nothing different than a rookie...but he was making some plays...Joyner has gotten a lot of PT....a lot of "tape"....

I think it's generally a good idea to give a guy more than just his rookie season before throwing the towel in on him.
I didn't take this as throwing in the towel, or that he meant he couldn't get better...Pretty sure everybody's hoping Joyner is a brilliant pick by snisher....but in a lot of situations, he is off his man, or getting beat to the ball...in games. So at the moment, Roberson seems like a better option if Joyners doing this in the 1st preseason game....same problems.

EJ will be missed.

Joyner was a Fisher pick, IIRC he had a feeling like he had with the missed opportunity on Bobby Wagner.

Rams looked confused before that TD on Joyner. I wondered he thought he had inside help or he missed the coverage call.

Joyner made some plays last year. Hopefully, he gets better this year.

I don't think quickness is the problem with him. He struggled last year but he seemed confused a lot in the scheme. I think it's a bit too early to say he has awful quickness and man coverage skills. Let's give him a chance to mature and improve. Personally, I also like him better at safety and I don't think size is really an issue. But the Rams seem happy with McLeod and McDonald.

No, somewhere there is an article stating Fisher talked to Demoff about Joyner and the Bobby Wagner thing. Demoff said he you have that strong a feeling then get Joyner. Here is Fisher talking about Joyner...

The Rams could not have been more pleased with the outcome of their two first-round draft choices Thursday said:
“He was clearly the guy that we identified last night, this morning before we started and we suspected that there was a team ahead of us that had interest in him, so we had to get above them,” Head Coach Jeff Fisher said. “And as it was, they traded down after he left, so I think we were right. We didn’t want to lose him, and he’s just an outstanding player. He plays all over their defense. He plays outside, he plays in the slot, he plays high, he blitzes, so he’s a plug-in Day 1 nickelback. He’s very, very aggressive, tackles well. He’s got average ball skills. We’ll work on that. They kind of dinged him, I think, after we drafted him on his ball skills.”[/U]

I don't think anyone is giving up on him.
It's hard to argue that he may not be ready yet.
I'm more comfortable with Roberson at the moment as well.

He definitely looked pretty confused at times, but I sure hope he's more comfortable so he can play fast this year. As someone said before, he's almost like the defensive version of Tavon - he flashes at times, but is very inconsistent. I just think he's so much better in zone coverage rather than man-to-man. I'll definitely be watching him closely this preseason.

Fisher was referring to Mo Alexander when he said if he didn't get him he would be "Bobby Wagner mad"

They're both former Utah state players and you can read where he says it in this article:

He returned to Utah State for the 2013 season, switched from linebacker to safety and, as the scouting process played out, became an under-the-radar obsession of sorts for Fisher.

"If I don't get him," he told Demoff and Snead on Friday night, "I'm gonna be mad."

"How mad?" Demoff asked.

"Like, Bobby Wagner mad."
