So Chris Simms must love us trading Bradford because what's the percentage of players re-tearing an ACL after they've torn it twice?

OK, we've covered the full spectrum: From "steal of the draft" to "dumbest pick ever"

I think it's fairly safe to say he'll fall somewhere between the two

If the O line picks pan out it won't matter who is running the ball, we have guys that can play at RB.

Why does Chris Simms opinion matter? Was he a successful NFL Scout or front office type? Was he a successful NFL player? His opinions is no better than a forum fans.

However, the Gurley pick could be terrible or it could be great. If he stays healthy it probably lands in the great column. If he has recurring knee issues then the pick ends up in the terrible column.

But, in a weak draft class that was limited when it comes to first round talent, who should have been the pick? A guy with a second round grade or a guy that could end up being the best player from that draft, that comes with a big risk? I really don't think there was any slam dunk picks at 10. I think they went with the huge upside and wanted to make a big splash instead of just saying lets play it safe and take some second round guy who should be a contributor for years.

At first I didn't like the pick but after having time to digest it, I think they played it well by shooting for the moon with Gurley.

Lots of NFL players have recovered from ACL surgery, while others haven't. The draft is a crapshoot. There are no 100% sure-to-be-great picks. Every team rolls the dice. That said, a player with a major injury history in college increases the odds that it may happen again. We shall see.

Not too long ago, there was only one relevant question for a football player with a torn ACL: Where's the retirement party?
There were no surgical options such as the one David Fleming detailed in this week'sESPN.com Hot Read. No one got to choose between a cadaver's ligament or an internal replacement. There were no elite rehabilitation centers.

The advent of arthroscopic surgery shifted the question ever so slightly: Could a player regain anything close to his previous performance upon his return?

Only in recent years has the paradigm changed. Punctuated by Adrian Peterson's 2,097-yard season in 2012, it is now routine for a player to pick up his career where he left off -- often less than a year after the injury. Those whose careers are ended or altered for the worse now occupy the minority.

With that trend in mind, ESPN.com's NFL staff has assembled an "All-ACL team" of active players who -- for the most part -- are excelling post-injury. We have relied on objective data whenever possible, but in some cases employed ratings from Pro Football Focus to assess players' pre- and post-injury performance.

We present the All-ACL offensive team below.

QB:Tom Brady
Honorable mention:Robert Griffin III, Redskins; Brian Hoyer, Browns; Philip Rivers, Chargers.

RB:Jamaal Charles
Honorable mention:Frank Gore, 49ers; Adrian Peterson, Vikings.

WR:Jeremy Maclin, Reggie Wayne, Donnie Avery

TE:Rob Gronkowski, Heath Miller

LT:Joe Thomas

RT:Bryan Bulaga

LG:James Carpenter, Logan Mankins

RG:Marshal Yanda

C:Maurkice Pouncey

Honorable mention:Jason Kelce, Eagles; Kory Lichtensteiger, Redskins.

ESPN.com's All-ACL Team: Defense/specialists

LB: Von Miller, Melvin Ingram, Thomas Davis

Honorable mention:NaVorro Bowman, 49ers; Chad Greenway, Vikings.

DE:Chris Clemons, Dominique Easley

DT:Geno Atkins, Ray McDonald

Honorable mention:Tank Carradine, 49ers; Henry Melton, Cowboys

CB:Chris Harris, Darrelle Revis

Honorable mention:Lardarius Webb, Ravens.

S:Eric Berry, Tyrann Mathieu

Honorable mention:Brandon Meriweather, Redskins

PR/KR:Travis Benjamin

K:Mike Nugent

P:Chris Jones

I wonder how many 10 year old females have access to NFL weight training and doctors?

I see where you are going... yet, we witnessed reinjury first hand with Bradford and Long, both had the NFL training and doctors.

I know it's scary, but that is an insignificant sample size.

Thankfully none of that has any impact on the chance of a Gurley re-injury, unless the Ram's doctors suck for some reason.

Would you take AP in the top 10 even in today's NFL? Even after an acl tear? Yes I'd say half the teams would. So you take Gurley. He is a clone of AP.

That's a pretty good case. I would think though that the 33% ACL re-injury rate varies a lot depending on the specifics of the case and lacks context. Is that 33% within two years or twenty years?
Maybe we should ask Bradford...

How do we compare Gurley to AP at this point? Clone.....really?

I just watched a program on TV that showed a guy that had lost over an inch of the the end of his finger in an accident with a R/C airplane. His brother had been doing research with a substance made from the bladder of pigs that when applied to his stub made the end of his finger grow back, fingerprints, fingernail and all!
Also, they used it on the leg of a soldier that had most of his quad muscle blow away by an IED, it regrew and they showed him running!
I wonder if they have tried this substance in surgical repairs like knee surgery yet?

The guy is allowed to have his opinion. He brings some valid points regarding the injury. That being said if you ever watched Gurley play it was quite evident he was a man amongst boys, as a pure freshman. This guy is AP 2.0. AP fell because of injury concerns to.
