This topic was touched on lightly previously. I've asked two questions below in bold red.
I'd love to hear your thoughts.

If the Seahawks went to a 3rd straight super bowl this year (and God forbid even win it)...
Do you feel that would help the Rams future? Or hurt the Rams future? Or neither?

And here's my 2nd question and answers will be packed with emotion I'm sure.
Suppose the Seahawks met the Patriots again in this year's super bowl.
Which team would you root for or against?

(No fair saying "I'd hope for a tie or the game to have a tornado." No fair saying "I wouldn't watch it."
You have to actually pick which of those two teams you'd want to win, and tell us why.)

Come on. Discussions among fans are fun.

If Sea goes to the SB again I don't that effects our Rams one way or the other. But if they do I would have to root for them, because I would never root for that team that stole our SB away.Having said that and as much as I hate to admit it watch out for Az.If they can avoid any major injuries they can make some noise in the playoffs.

Seattle is surging late once again. I don't think the Superbowl is out of the question. I didn't root for either team last year and wont root for either this year, if it is any of the following.....any NFC West Team, the Panthers, the Patriots, or the Eagles.

I don't see how Seattle making it to the Superbowl could affect the Rams in any way.

No way Seattle beats Carolina on the road in the playoffs. That team is too damn good this year.
I hope you're right. But let's just hypothetically say they did beat Carolina. Where would you stand regarding my two questions?

I think that it would be foolish to count out any of the following NFC teams for SB contention:

Cardinals
Panthers
Seahawks

And maybe the Packers, too.

Any of them get a good bounce or two and they could win it all.

The only possible effect I guess would be if they won it again, players'd be lining up to get paid, and they might lose some good ones. Bit of a reach though - probably no effect at all.
Would definitely be rooting for the Seahawks. Fuck the Patriots - forever.

I'll root for the Patriots all day over any NFC West team.

It does affect the Rams IMO.

Remember when Brady and the Patriots won 3 in 4 years? The Seahawks winning 2/3 in 3 years is very similar...

Brady was categorized by some as a "game manager" back then. He played clutch...but he didn't put up great numbers. Hard to fathom that now, but back then, he was very much in the same category that Russell Wilson is today....actually, one could argue that if they win it all this year, Wilson is ahead of where Brady was....and here's how it impacts the Rams...

Look at the AFC East since 2002 (Brady's first full year as a starter) - how many times have the Bills/Dolphins/Jets won the AFC East combined?

Twice. As in, two times. In now 14 years since the Pats will win it this year. And one of those was only because Brady got injured.

No thanks to Carroll/Wilson becoming the next Belichick/Brady - and before you say, that's different! They're not that good!

Might I remind you that Belichick was touted as a defensive genius....yet the Seahawks have put together defenses the last 3/4 years that destroy anything the Pats have had under BB; and as noted above, Brady was very much in the "game manager" conversation his first few years in the NFL. In his first 5 full years as a starter, his highest passer rating was 92. He only threw 4000 yards once. And his highest TD output was 28.

Wilson is very much in that category statistically, as well as W/L records. The most disturbing thing to me though is that I'm guessing Dolphins/Jets/Bills fans said to themselves back then "Brady is overrated, the Patriots will come back down to reality".............and 10 years later only one of them has snagged a division title....and even then, it's only because Brady was hurt.

So no thanks on a Seahawk dynasty.

@FrantikRam that was a very insightful reply to my questions. I enjoyed reading it very much. 3 times even. I'm pretty much with you on things. I would hate for the Seahawks to be a dynasty. I think it would make it tougher for the Rams to win the division going forward. As much as I hate the Patriots and how they cheated us in 2001, my hate for the Seahawks runs deeper.

And I really appreciate that you answered the two 'what if' questions I directly asked, rather than ignore the questions and say something like "it will never happen." It probably won't happen, but the name of the game for this thread is 'What if it did? Which team would you want to lose in the super bowl?'

The elite teams in the NFL this year are so awesome to watch. there is such a difference this season between the upper echelon teams right now (Carolina, NE, Cincinnati, Seattle) than the next tier that it is stunning.

The championship games are gonna be amazing.

They're not getting home-field advantage. They're not going to the Super Bowl this year.

The Seahawks are surging due to an easy stretch of their schedule and cluster of home games to boot.

While they remain among the top NFC teams, they have not looked nearly as dominant on both sides of the ball.

I'll be surprised if they make the SuperBowl. The only way I am rooting for them is in a matchup against NE.

Yes. I'm sure. The Ravens are a bad team starting their 3rd string QB. The Vikings are an inconsistent team. They were blown out by the Packers at home a couple weeks before Seattle did it.

Seattle will have to win 3 in a row on the road to make the Super Bowl. With two wins likely having to come against Carolina and Arizona on the road.

I dont think it affects the Rams at all. The Rams always seem to play the Division tougher than the rest of the schedule, so even if they had to face the hypothetical "defending NFC Champions" next year.. remember week 1? If anything it helps the Rams as per strength of schedule..just gives us more excuses as to why Rams went 8-8 this year lol

Thanks for your thoughts.
So you'd root for the Seahawks if they play the Patriots in the big game. I find the different opinions, and the reasons, a bit fascinating.
I feel like I'm one of the very few who absolutely hates the Seahawks with a fiery passion.

It has a positive affect on the Rams

1. Drafting so late for them consistently over the past few years will make it even more difficult to find players to replace...

2. Veterans who want to get paid, this will eventually cause division cause of holdouts (Kam chancellor) and or cause team over pay and bust their cap
