It could happen. Cheap ass Spanos would love to not have to pay Herbert. Harbaugh gets his QB McCarthy who he claimed was the best QB in the draft. The Chargers need WRs so they get a decent one in Atwell. Most of all McVay doesn't have to develop a rookie. Herbert with McVay's system and these WRs would be as intimidating as Stafford.

It would rank up there with the Rams snagging Stafford, and would make them the favorite to win the NFCW and a legit SB contender for years. They sign Herbert to a new 6 year deal with 2024 being affordable. Remember it's all about the guaranteed money.

No, it couldn't. The salary cap hit of such a move would be almost impossible for the Chargers to overcome.

I think you forgot the blue font
Because clearly Atwell alone could be traded for the #5 overall pick
I think, in that 3rd scenario, he has Justin Herbert AND Matthew Stafford on the 2024 Rams.

What’s the odds on the Rams not picking at 19? I think that’s the bet to take.

Plus they've already paid Herbert with all that guaranteed signing bonus.
  • 2024 Option Bonus: $50.6M (guaranteed, due 3/22/2024)
Btw, I like the way Sportrac has updated their site
Now can view a detail of dead cap

So far, Herbert has shown no ability to elevate the offense when down in big games, he comes up small. If the choice is between old Matthew Stafford, who has an incredible record of coming back in games from behind, or a talented choker from the Renters, it's Stafford all day. every day and twice as much on Sundays!

I’m going to break it down this way:

Guy I’d trade up for: Rome Odunze
Guy I’m hoping to take at 19: Laiatu Latu
Guy I’m expecting to take at 19: Olu Fashanu
Guy I’d target with a small trade back: Jer’zahn Newton
Wild card selection at 19: Brian Thomas

Spot on with one add:
Guy I’d target with a small trade back: Jer’zahn Newton or Cooper Dejuan.

Is Olu Fashanu a lock to play LT? If not where does he fit?

He started 20 games at LT over the past 2 seasons and gave up 0 sacks in 663 pass blocking snaps. He’d be my presumed day 1 starter at LT.
Its why I'm expecting him to be picked well above our pick. Too many LT needy teams above us. And I'm not mad.
