Obviously that's well beside the point, they used a ranking system of this year's teams. No need to be Captain Literal Woman here, Mem :p

I agree. The question is whether Bennett has the ability to effectively run the offense in practice with the 1's and 2's. That's what the Rams need to have for Simpson to digest and learn. Being the #3 QB in that scenario has little to do with the "value" of the pick.
As long as Bennett (or JG for that matter) can do it, Simpson can red-shirt
Yes of course. Entirely agree. And though the level of freak out in here by the reactionaries would be extremely vomit inducing and mostly meaningless to the real issue it is still incumbent on the braintrust to do the right thing and the thing they WANT. In the case this happens there will be more than enough tissues to pass around in here for the freak-out-ers.

I WILL jump in here and defend Tano, Dieter. Mahomes WAS QB2 for KC, he is responding to my framing of Simpson as QB3 for a year. Mahomes spent that whole season "a snap away" from being on the field. I dont NECESSARILY want that for Ty. But he could handle it if it was the case I'm sure.
KC didnt have a back up QB on the roster, they lost Nick Foles to FA
Rams have the luxury of choosing between 2 guys who have been with the team already for 2-3 years

Agreed, he comes across like a fucking dipshit on crack. Too stupid to even realize he looks fucking stupid. He was and is not Ram material and glad he's NOT gonna be part of this team.
I was interested in Lemon with the R1.13 pick but was warming up to other options (top defensive player falling, top 3-4 OL). And was really banging the table at the for a trade down for an extra R2 pick. Part of that change in heart was seeing how odd Lemon was and likely will be.

You're making my argument, thank you.
9 has also missed time. '22 was a disaster because of that. What pick value do you place on:
- QB2
- WR2
- DE / Edge 2
Which one should we use pick #13 on??
I'm not making any argument for anyone, lmao. If 9 misses time, we are fucked anyways. Simpson isn't being drafted as ready at all with some folks even saying they are ok with him as QB3 so that basically kills your argument there. However if we can somewhat replace the players productivity I'm talking about with more pro ready players in case of injuries, then we can get by. Good try though hahahaha

Honestly McVay's reaction was going to be watched closely by the media. I'm actually surprised he wasn't more aware of that as media loves to stir shit up whether its true or not.
I posted 2 videos and watched 3 others. He is that way in these draft pressers. It's the rnd of a long day and he's worn out he also has said he wad having things outside of work going on. The thing that baffles me is Rams fans saying the pick was forced oncVay. We know those two work together and are in lock step. But because people didn't like the pick they're manufacturing drama between the two guys running the Rams.

I'm not offended at all I'm confused by how fans could do that to them. Only thing that offends me is people lying about what I say or twisting partial quotes. I say it all the time I've been wrong and I will be wrong again.

That whole "McVay upset about pick" thing was both a force and a farce.

All good, I tried not to jump to conclusions about how McVay reacted because honestly I don't really know what's true and we won't ever know because the Rams keep shit in house. I can't imagine him not being in lock step with Snead so I'll give the benefit of the doubt unless proven otherwise. If it is proven otherwise, it would be crazy and pretty dumb of Snead to have done that. Unfortunately, we know the media will jump on anything to make a story regarding McVay's reaction. Regardless, Simpson is the pick so I'm confident the Rams will be unified in backing up their choice.

Dude is a strange cat. Glad we passed....

I just don't find it entirely necessary that he is QB2 THIS year. That is all. I would like it of course, but we are going to totally slow play this thing.
I can see your point. I'm still annoyed with the pick but as I have said - I will fully support Simpson even if he doesn't beat out Bennett (but I may be making snide comments to myself if he doesn't). This is the last post on this topic unless someone asks me a new question that I haven't already answered.

Go Rams - Go Simpson in 28 (maybe 27)
But in 3 years I may revisit especially if I have to eat crow. (And I fully hope I have to.)

I'm not sure we could have drafted that guy. The thing that bothered me about the Simpson pick was that in a lot of drafts he wouldn't even be a 1st round pick. I get why the Rams did it though- they would have had to give up the farm to get into the draft for qb next year.

Doesn't mean I have to love it though.
There were a couple ILBs I liked in the 3rd round that I would have liked to get if we traded down in the 2nd round.

Just to stay on topic

Good - Decent depth draft

Bad - so so WR in 6th round (might be decent as 3rd receiver)

Ugly - No coverage ILB.

I wouldn't say it gives him a very good chance at all. He just simply has a chance. No telling if it'll be good or not for quite some time.
You don't think being on a loaded team with a loaded offense and great coaching and not being rushed out there don't give him a good chance?
Look at this running game we have.
Look at this veteran healthy offensive line we have.
Look at the coaching he's going to receive.
Look at the time he's going to have to develop behind a great coach/quarterback.
He's a coach's son.
I can't actually think of a quarterback that has a better chance to be successful in the NFL right out of the draft.

If we re-sign Jimmy G, that makes the drafting of Simpson way worse to me. Getting drafted in the 1st and not even talented enough to be the backup is a big red flag imo
I'm not sure it has anything to do with "talent level" at all.
It has to do with development.
They could very well know after camp that he's ready to go and make him the QB2 and release Garoppolo.
They could think he needs a little more development time and not even put them on the game day 47.
A lot of different scenarios but not sure talent level has anything to do with anything at this point.
Maybe they'll know something better after camp and maybe not.
Time will tell and in mcsnead I trust. ;)
