@Psycho_X I hear you. What is really weird is Fisher's philosophy of having a run-first offense. This way the offense controls the clock, keeps the opposing team's offense on the sideline, and ultimately wears down the opposing defense, so by the 4th quarter the game is out of reach. This works if you have a dominating O-Line and running back along with an efficient QB and receiving corps, so teams can't load the box. So based upon what I just said, what seems to be missing? IMO, a dominating O-Line and efficient QB. Keenum has been giving us a mixed bag of goods so far this season, and the O-Line has been nothing to write home about. I thought a whole off-season with the O-Line intact would have shown much better results, but we're still a long ways away from having a dominating O-Line. I really think we have a great QB, but he's watching from the sidelines. Add to it our strong defense and special teams, and we'll start seeing more playoff appearances and possible super bowl games. Sometimes it seems they are so close yet so far away.

Gase is turning it around....Scheme's take time to implement....Hue Jackson is in a total rebuild...in fact, I'd say they're tanking( I watch a lil basketball and can tell tanking from the Lakers), Philly still has a winning record, no? At least they're starting their rookie QB. Peterson is solid.

I'm more interested in the recent hires of Harbaugh, Carrol, dude at Denver, Andy Reid, Zimmer, Bruce A., hell, even Chip Kelly in Philly. There are risks...but if done correctly, with our talent we should hit the ground running.
I remember Linnihan. I remember Spags...Just on penalties ALONE, I'm tired of this coaching staff...and I'm not a big penalties show no discipline guy...just the timing of the penalties. GSOT type teams can overcome penalties....This team can't. The up and down play, like, not ready for the opener...not ready for the game after the break...the FA signings...real management teams don't fuck up on FA signings this consistently. Get guys you can use. Instead, we look like we're trying to get guys paid that can't play. And everybody KNOWS they can't play.

So yeah...finish 10-6 or 11-5...or get the hell outta here Fish...try something new.

Who ever the new coach is he's going to swap most if not all the pos. coaches and coordinators. churn 40% of the roster 1st year be 70% turnover by end of the 2nd year.
He's going to win or lose with his players.

Not necessarily. Jon Gruden won the Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's team almost entirely intact.

Jim Harbaugh went to 3 straight NFC Championship games and 1 Super Bowl with Mike Singletary's team almost entirely intact.

It's possible to succeed with a talented roster without dismantling it. This Rams team is NOT the dumpster fire bereft of talent that Fisher came into. They've assembled talent. For that I'm grateful.

But...this team reminds me more and more every day of the 49ers prior to Harbaugh. Undisciplined, Over-talented, under-performing, poor executing, full of excuses... I could go on.

This team needs a Harbaugh like coach that focuses on execution and puts players in a position to succeed.

It probably won't be Harbaugh, but you look at Todd Haley or Kyle Shanahan or David Shaw...and you've got great possibilities there.

I LOVE the system Todd Haley runs. I LOVE what Kyle Shanahan has done for Matt Ryan. Damn, is that impressive. I dunno which is more impressive, the job Shanny's done with Matty Ice or Jim Bob Cooter's done with Matt Stafford. Either way, super impressive! And I'm impressed by the overall body of work of David Shaw. I know not everyone is, but no one's gonna love every choice.

It is my firm belief that ANY of them would be significant upgrades to Fisher, ESPECIALLY Todd Haley or Kyle Shanahan (maybe even Jim Bob Cooter). I've pounded the table for David Shaw, but he's always gonna have that bit of the unknown going for him because he's coming from college.

I would hit the reset button entirely on the Offensive Line, OL Coach, O.C as well as HC. The rest of the defense with DC and the specialty teams coaches, I'd keep.

So we let go of Fisher, gut the entire offensive line with smarter guys, change the WR corp completely except Britt and Austin and keep Gurley and the Rams should contend by 2019 in their new stadium.

After 4 1/2 years?

The Rams have an above average defense and a bottom of the barrel offense.

Unsurprisingly, that woeful and too predicatble offense is unable to overcome the frequent penalties which seemly occur at the most inopportune times.

Even the most formidable running offenses can be shut down at times which is why you need that "money" QB that can bring you back from a deficit and finish those 4th qt drives with a TD to win games.

Our running game has been shut down by everyone so far and our QB is a quality backup that is simply not physically able to consistently carry the team to victories absent a successful ground attack.

It is as if Fisher is unaware of what it takes to win in the modern NFL. After almost 5 years we feature one of the least feared qb's and receiving corps in the league.

Somebody needs to ask Fisher just how many more years he plans to have the most important asset on the team remain its most glaring weakness.

I would have been quietly assembling a list of coaching options after that first game debacle and nothing the team, or Fisher, has done since then has changed my mind.

It's better to try than to sit around expecting something different from something that you already have more than enough proof of never changing.

There's no guarantee a new coach won't be able to make a quick turnaround. It's happened a lot of times over the years.
SUSTAINING it is a whole nother story though. Remember Sporano in Miami? Or Whisenhunt in AZ?

I suppose New England wasn't concerned when they bagged Carroll in favor of Belechick. Or Green Bay when they canned Sherman in favor of McCarthy. Of course the Giants weren't concerned about losing Fassell when they brought in coughlin or Baltimore when they pink slipped Billick in favor of Harbaugh.....
Some times change is good and the devil you don't know is winning

I think Rams need a fresh start at HC position also. But Rams need to time it right. Evaluate and if options are not good long-term then hold onto Fisher for one more year.

Not to mention every one of those coaches have a higher scoring team than the Fisher led Rams. Please give us any of those coaches at this point. Five years of Fisher have given us what we see every Sunday. Clearly it's somebody's fault other than his.

Shanahan or Harbough (if he can get along with Snead or new upper management) are my choices

I will give someone a high five if they can identify a team that fired the head coach and kept the defensive coordinator as a defensive coordinator.

I've seen it 2 or 3 times in this thread as if it happens all the time.

It almost never happens.

C'mon

Let's keep with the "consistently worse record each season" trend going.

Baltimore Ravens - Fired Brian Billick, hired John Harbaugh, and retained Rex Ryan as DC

Best case scenario in my mind would be to have Stan hold a "Come to Jesus" meeting like the one El Grindo (John Shaw) had with Dick Vermiel after the 98 season and player revolt. Force him to hire a PROVEN Offensive coordinator and then get the hell out of the way...leave the D staff alone. Lets not throw out the baby with the bath water here...
So your saying to hire Mike Martz again? :sneaky:
