The only running backs that make the 53 will be the ones that don't need blocking.

Funny not funny.

It's my belief that when the 2020 season begins these will be our four young RB's:

#1-Cam Akers- 5-10/217 20/R
#2-Darrell Henderson-5-8/208 22/2
#3-James Gilbert 5-9/198 20/R
#4-Xavier Jones 5-11/208 21/R

No love for Malcolm Brown? I could see one of those UDFA making the 53 but not both. Malcolm is a tough runner. That being said, I like Jones' highlight reel. A lot of the Tulane game but there aren't any Tulane's in the NFL.

maybe he becomes the backup QB as well.
Seems to be another theme when you look across the new additions. At least 3 of them (outside of the QB's) have thrown TD passes in games before. Nice to have that little wrinkle if need be.

Brown
Henderson
Akers
Jones.

Gilbert to the practice squad, chance to be the KR'er. the last WR will win for PR duties.

Keep in mind, for a 4th string RB, the ability to tackle or return kicks is almost as important as the ability to run when determining who sticks on the roster.

Malcom makes the team. Especially this year with the virus and all.

Brown is the proven runner of the group. Anyone else on the team right now is behind him. He's tough and has stepped it up each year. Can he handle an entire workload? Not sure but that may not be what McVay wants out of him. Will the depth chart change from here to the start of the season? Possibly. Can't wait to see what Akers brings to the table.. but for now, don't forget about MB!

Jones seems like a great addition, too (thought he was smaller for some reason).

Brown has looked sluggish when he's been given a bigger workload. He's a 5 touch kind of rb.

Let's not kid ourselves, this is a Akers and Henderson time share. Unless one of them proves to be much better than the other.

Yes they are. Rams have started many rookie RB's with very positive results. RB's are usually showing wear & tear after four seasons whereas OL'ers are just getting broke in. Henderson is a good example on your position why you don't depend on just one rookie RB. But then again I have 3 rookies in my projected Ram roster. Akers is no Henderson.

The reason for my projection is I know Malcolm Brown can not be counted on. After the last two seasons when Gurley could not go, or he was in need of a rest Brown was not there for us he was injured too. Now if the Rams were to pick up a discarded veteran RB that would fit in this offense right before the season began that would be different.
