The Buffalo Bills havent been in the playoffs in 15 years and after 1 season with a winning record, they are media darlings. All it takes is a winning season and all perspective will change.
Unless of course you're Tony Romo....

Respect is for those who have earned it, not those who demand it.

Until the Rams prove they can win more than 8 games in a season, I will not be surprised by any writers who predict them to do badly, just the way it goes unfotunately

Also, it's preseason, every team is full of optimism, the Rams included, I would be more surprised if the beat writers for each individual team didn't think they could beat the Rams at this point. They don't see the improvementsthat we have made, why would they? They just see their team, and their shiny new draft picks going up against a team that was 6-10 last year.

It is annoying, but it will make it all the more satisfying when the Rams do start winning.
I dunno man. A lack of acceptance that we are a better team this year I can understand but having us be 2 games worse IMO is just not paying attention and going by our pre-season score and record only. Of course how could they help it? Those fucks at NFLN replayed only half of our Indy and KC game and instead dedicated more time to RGKnee and that douchebag up in NE. Seriously - more time was spent on those two "stories" than the game they were supposed to be showing. THAT pisses me off more than someone not liking our chances. That is the ultimate in disrespect. I was freaking livid.

The Rams have done nothing to earn respect.
Most reporters just go with the flow and look for a repeat of the previous year. Or they just look at who has the best QB.
Superbowl pick.....Pats Packers....makes sense.

And remember, the OP took a collection of the beat writers from the teams we play and added them all together. Of course it's on the negative/homer side. It wasn't the prediction of any of them about the Rams exactly but contrived from their collective "when we play the Rams" predictions. That we even got 4 to predict defeat is not bad!

So ESPN.com had all their beat writers for NFL teams produce W/L predictions for their team. Now I know that ESPN sucks, but the beat writers for each individual team shouldn't. That's quite a few perspectives.

So Nick Wagoner has us going 8-8, but actually has us at 8-6 going into the last two games. I think most of us would take that. Cool. So then I thought to check and see what each of the writers for the other teams that we play are predicting.....and wow.

Let's start with the wins: Arizona (once), Chicago, Detroit, and Minnesota

Losses that make some sense:

Seahawks twice, Cardinals once, Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Packers

Mind numbing predicted losses that make no sense:

Redskins, Niners - TWICE, Browns, Buccaneers

That's right. 4 wins. Four. As in, 4-12.

Now, individually, I'm guessing none of those beat writers for other teams would predict a 4-12 record for our Rams. But collectively, they are obviously a bit too positive about their own teams. But I'm sick of it.

I know our guys need to go out and earn respect, but being picked to lose to those 4 teams is an insult. And I'm really getting sick of not getting what respect we have earned.

It's okay Frantik, you will feel all better once we start kicking butts and taking names.. or taking names and kicking butts..

I just read these things and laugh about how people have these ridiculous predictions even with no justifications.

Btw, I'll be in vegas this weekend and gonna put some money on the Rams to win the Super Bowl.. Gotta back my team.

Many of you get upset that the national media doesn't give us love. I know Wagoner is more local, but we haven't had a winning season since 2003. Respect is earned. If we have a winning season the whole offseason will be dedicated to glowing articles and lofty expectations. I see the range of wins between 7-10. 8-8 isn't unreasonable.

It's not really Wagoner (in this case) that bothers me. It is the others that show no respect for another team that has beaten their team when we were not only in likely worse shape but their team was in better shape. It jus says to me that they are not paying attention but simple spewing from their pie hole.

I would pretty much agree, and i think that this
having us be 2 games worse IMO is just not paying attention and going by our pre-season score and record only.
is pretty much exactly what is happening. From an outside perspective i can understand why people would look at the Rams and see a new QB, in a new system, with a new OC, 2 rookies, and lord knows who at C, starting on OL. We have no WR that they have heard of other than Tavon (who in the eyes of the national media is a bust) and Britt(again, seen as a bad WR by the general public).
People fear the Rams front 7 but still think our secondary sucks because PFF and bleacher report tell them so.
All of that, along with Bradford being moved and looking good in 1 pre-season game means the Rams have surely lost out and become a worse team to them.

Obviously we, as Rams fans know about all of the positives for the team this year too; an actual QB, an upgrade at RB, a years more experience for the youngest team in the league etc. but why would people look at that stuff? it's far easier for them to simply look at the negatives, write off our season, and have nothing come back at them when we inevitably get more than 4 wins.

Respect is for those who have earned it, not those who demand it.

I understand what you're saying and agree to an extent but then you look at these experts predictions and it seems they don't agree with your statement.

The 4-12 Redskins earned enough respect for a 2 win gain.
The Raiders garnered a 3 win gain. The Giants who finished almost identical to us yet had a higher draft pick based on SOS gained a 1 win boost.
A rookie QB in Jaemis Winston is apparently enough respect earned to have a 2-14 team suddenly an 8-8 team even with what is likely the worst OLine in the NFL(oh they're also going to beat us in St Louis by 10 points it seems).
The Bears and their 31st ranked defense lost Kevin White for at least 6 games and that gets them a 1 win increase(though they do predict we beat them up in our matchup).
The 3-13 Jaguars lost their #1 pick for the year, signed a high priced free agent TE and lost him for a month, but that's enough of respect to get them a 4 win gain.
The 2-14 Titans also added a rookie QB and get a 4 win gain in respect.
I'm not sure what the Saints added but I know they lost Jimmy Graham, Anthony Spencer, PJ Williams and a couple other DB's and that's good for 3 games extra respect.

Now I'm not saying I disagree with you but consistency is lacking with these guys. Of course as I typed all that out I get to the Rams prediction OP linked in the 2nd post and it has them going 8-8 so not sure where the 4 win prediction comes from but I would take exception with anybody who predicts us winning 4 games. So yeah I don't agree in any way with the 4 win prediction but I do agree they need to win to start earning respect.

This is pretty much what i was trying to get at in a somewhat cack-handed manner. Of course i disagree with any 4-12 prediction, i'm just not overly surprised that non-Stl based media would make it. This is just looking at the Rams prediction in a vacuum btw as i hadn't seen any other teams predictions.
