Sort of the opposite of the G.Williams era.
Cover up the routes, and the olbs will have time to get home. Our secondary is stout. As is our dline. The question will be pass rush.
There's a great PFF article out there that talks about how secondaries lead to better sack numbers than pass rushing leads to good secondary play. Coverage sacks are far more reliable in their opinion. I think we have enough developing edge rushers (big fan of polite, okoronwko, and Lewis so maybe I'm biased) to generate pressure next to Donald. Our secondary is stout. As is our dline. I agree, I think every year there's some DE or OLB that looks like a stud, but you watch highlights & it's almost always a bunch of coverage sacks. Rarely do you see them just flat out beat the guy in front of them & get to the QB in 2.5 sec's. College highlights too -- when I see some guy who's supposedly a top rated draft pick, but I watch their highlights & see a bunch of unblocked sacks or coverage sacks, I figure there's someone in their secondary who's worth drafting more than they are. There's a great PFF article out there that talks about how secondaries lead to better sack numbers than pass rushing leads to good secondary play.
