reminds me of the Havenstien pick, I thought WTF of the pick. Lots of simalarities. Lots of starts in college, good acedemics, Big and strong, nothing flashy. Boom will need more time to get NFL ready, Safe pick IMHO

Yeah similar in the way you mentioned, but different in their skill sets. Hav is an ogre of a player, his size is his biggest asset and bails him out. If Boom is going to make it in the NFL he is going to have to do it moreso with technique, he's got good feet but is not the biggest or most physical dude at OT.

But bottom line is if our OL coach likes the kid, well, I'm willing to wait and see how he develops. Worst case we'll have OG depth that can pass block.

Rams must believe he has the chance to develop into a starter with time.

Or hope he can at least. And maybe they would have preferred to pick him later but OTs were flying off the board in round 3. If they liked him enough then they were forced to pick him when they did.

Yeah, we traded down and got a sixth.

For any of you familiar with the video game crowd........"All your sixths are belong to us!"

Currently have five 6th round picks. Sheesh. Hope we get rid of at least two of them in a trade-up. Seems like a waste to have that many 6th rd picks.... wed just end up cutting some of them, right?

Yeah, I keep asking myself why. Maybe with the big contracts coming up and the roster looking very good they are only looking for cheap developmental types and role players, because it will be a long time before they can afford to pay anyone that's going to demand a big contract in a few years.

i can see what they mean when they say he has trouble staying on his blocks in the run game. nothing that can't be fixed with solid coaching.

.

Well, we can hope anyway. I recall people saying that all GRob needed was some good coaching.

I like it. McVay is truly invested in making sure Goff stays upright, and I'm sure Noteboom's the right raw piece for Kromer to mold into a reliable player.

Looks like a solid pick. Worse case is a swing tackle. Best case is a starting LT for a decade.

I'm concerned about his hand size tho.

I am not a fan of this pick. Snead has returned to his old ways. Look for athleticism above all, only, that never worked out for him on offense. There were better players on the board. The big run on OTs forced Snead to draft Notebook earlier than he should have.

Unlike grob this guy actually got off quick and blocked his man or men. Grob would go the opposite way of where he supposed to go. Boom has trouble finishing off his blocks down the field. Nowhere near the multitude of problems grob had that nobody knew about because he never pass blocked in college.

Great snap Jakeman.

Did you take any notes from the senior bowl Regarding Notebloom?

I’m curious how he looked compared to other tackles out there.

This pick is what Les Snead meant in his pre draft press Conference by drafting “Role Players”. Les clearly said we are not drafting to fill a need but rather “a role”.

The swing tackle guy is a role guy and a
Hard one to fill. Have to be able to come in and play left or right tackle in a pinch if Havenstein or Whitworth go down.

Looking at Notebloom’s tape you can see why he was selected. His quick feet and hands against the speed rush around the edge stand out. He can do what Whitworth can in that regard. Not at that consistent level but the ability is there.

Notebloom shows the ability to also get out quickly and setup for the screen which the Rams highly emphasize.

I personally don’t love the pick but I get
The thought process. We are screwed if Whitworth goes down but this guy gives us a chance to protect against NFL speed edge rushers in the worst case scenario of Big Whit going down.

I don’t see a long term starter however.

i just like tge fact we got a guy that has a name nobody can get right.... just like "Grant Winstrom"
This guy has been called Noteboom, Notebloom, Notebook, Trapperkeeper, etc... I know it's autocorrect doing it, but it's funny.

Winstrom was a classic lol.

I have no idea who Notebloom is, but he's entering a great environment to learn and develop. We needed OL depth and we should have a shot at some good LB's in the 4th. Good pick.

Noteboom addresses a big time need. What we do on offense goes through Goff and Gurley. This pick helps protects that plan, with an eye toward future years and needs, as well.

Any player that makes it to the latter part of round 3... has holes in their game to work on. If Kromer sees the potential he wants in Noteboom, good enough for me! (y)

Besides, the pool of players available to contribute immediately at linebacker is likely much deeper. Players at ends, linebacker, and safeties are all in consideration. Small school, perhaps athletic types, etc. I suspect we’ll throw a lot of hooks in the water to find help at LB.

I thought there was a chance the Rams would go "OT" with there 3rd round pick. But I was surprised when they did, and it was Noteboom of all the Possibilities!

When it finally got to "THE PICK" I looked at my board and was sure I knew the pick Yes!! it was going to be " DE- Josh Sweat - Florida State" / Edge rusher/ 6ft 4-251- 142.2 SPARQ score!! I WAS WRONG!

This Professor Aaron Kromer's selection all the way---nothing more needs to be said, (But, of course, I'll say it anyway!)

Clearly, this kid has the basic techniques and raw skills to succeed at either tackle spot. He needs to develop much more muscle and refine his technique to handle a decade+ career. If Aaron wants him on board, then he is confident he can groom this kid to his liking. How can you deny the guy who looked over our motley 2016 OL crew, declare confidently he can work with them, and then delivered in spades? I can see another guard being selected today and more OL guys as UDFAs later on as the molder of Jared & Todd's bodyguards prepare to mold his future crew.

Here's why I have a problem with the pick;
The dude is a project.
At the minimum he is a one-year project which leaves Goff vulnerable this year.
So we're basically where we were when the draft started with our top overall pick.
As we move down the draft the quality of the linebackers available has to go down too (theoretically).
We are THAT thin at linebacker that we are a injury away from a problem at that position.
6'5 is short for a tackle. The main problem being he has the shorter arms of a 6-5 man.
The list of his shortcomings is long and he doesn't really look like a natural tackle to me from the video available.

Finding a starting left tackle in the third round of the draft is pretty rare.

As usual, I'm pulling for the guy.
Here's to hoping he proves me wrong.

I agree to me it seemed like they were trying to get Orlando Brown and settle for no bloom
