Why would any team trade high draft picks for Jimmy G.

This is the exact reason why wins should not be a QB stat. I said the same thing a year ago after the Stafford/Goff trade. People were using wins to credit Goff and knock Stafford. The value of a QB should be based solely on talent/merit but the circumstances around them (ie overall team talent and franchise) may affect wins.

Jimmy is an average at best QB in the NFL, to me he's slightly below average. There are some teams though that have horrendous QB situations and he would be an upgrade over what they have. But no way in hell I'd ever give up a high pick for him.

Well , I’d say Jimmy G is alright.I guess Shanahan thought the same ? Then again a veteran QB is worth a lot more than some think.I look back at Vinny back at the end of his careers.
The Niners paid to get Jimmy G & he has proved he is a winner when healthy.Wha the Niners did was impressive this season.

I know some desperate team will be dumb enough to give up a second round pick. Chances are that dumb team's pick will be higher in the second round.

Take a close look. The 49ers were generally considered to have a championship roster. They were a quarterback away according to most experts. What does that tell you?

The 49er offense was the perfect setup for a guy like Garoppolo. It relied heavily on the run game and short controlled passes. Jimmy GQ could play that game. They had the personnel for it. Would a team like Denver have that? Ask him to do more is asking for trouble. Ever watch him try and complete the deeper sideline passes? He's usually off target. In our game he had a wide open Aiyuk down the sideline and he threw an uncatchable ball.

Wherever he goes I seriously don't think he'll do well at all. I hear Denver has a good roster and only needs a viable quarterback. If they make that trade I have a feeling it won't work out for them.

Agree. There’s a lotta talent on that 9er team. Jimmy g was not necessarily supposed to go out and win games— just not lose them. That means games where he’s throwing less than 25 times.

You mention that sideline throw. His coach praised him for his throws on the out routes but I’ve seen picks and near picks aplenty on just that one throw. It cost them a SB.

Schlereth said it best in an interview. Jimmy is a solid QB as long as you can live with him throwing the ball to the other team about 3 times a game. They might not catch it (see Ramsey), but he’s gonna throw it.

That has always been jimmy g in a nutshell—a TO waiting to happen.

...but what the Rams would’ve given to have him the first 4 years of the fisher regime. And there’s that 2nd rounder you mentioned.

I don’t hate Jimmy G-string. He seems like a nice guy, good teammate and above average NFL QB. I just despise the 69ers and the senseless media adoration G-string gets. I think he’s worth a 2nd round pick for someone like Carolina, Denver or Washington. Although I’d like to see Rodgers go to Denver.

I think a team like the Jets as well.They have at least 2 first rd picks,so a 2nd rd pick might not be a bad thing.Especially with his relationship with the HC ?
A veteran QB is a hard position to find. He could be good for Wilson.

Jimmy G is not a bad QB just a limited QB. He's a good fit for a dink and dunk offense with a strong run attack, decent OL and defense. Let me put it this way. I'd take Jimmy G over Baker any day. He would get a team like Cleveland into the playoffs. IMO he's better than Murray. That said he does miss his share of reads but he's far and away a better pocket passer than Kyler and most of all he's an adult.

There are 3 or 4 teams that could benefit from Jimmy G and he won't be a CAP buster to extend. The adage that defense wins championships is true with the caveat that you do need at least a second-tier QB who won't lose the game. Jimmy is good enough to win with if he has the team around him.
