Leinart got hurt in '06 while Green was still there. That's why Warner mopped up game #15 and got the start in game #16. If Leinart doesn't get hurt, then it's possible Warner doesn't see the field again. He was benched because he couldn't hang onto the ball and was fumbling games away. Not sure Whis would have brought him back as even the backup if that was the last thing he did. But he looked like his old self with the new gloves and got his shot the following year in '07. Granted, he was taking playing time from Leinart at that point because Whis NEVER liked him and started the QB rotation but I think if Leinart had finished out the '06 campaign, things for Warner would have been different.
