Why so little talk about Karty?

He looks like a long snapper. That should help our kickers confidence when his long snapper looks like a long snapper. Good stuff
A bigger long snapper would help with blocking too. Despite the "no canning the centre" rule, some of the rush has been coming up the middle.

This is a huge move. This by itself may improve the kicking game dramatically.

I don't know why we let go McQuaide in the first place.
Neede money for Tutu the world beater.

Joking aside, didn’t we let Mcquaid go way before 2024 when Karty had a good season?

No, he left in 2021 for Cowboys and has bounced around the league since then. Long snappers seem to play on mostly vet minimum contracts which keep growing the more experience they get which teams tend to replace with younger guys. Good planning until you have issues with your kicking game lol.

Bet until he can get his FG and extra points corrected, it seems Evans could likely handle kickoffs for the time being. But he always kicks it in the end zone.

Yeah, Karty could be a half a step quicker with his approach, but I can't help but notice the 2 big wiffs on the right side of our line in this one. Against the feagles, the left side was trucked by Philly's line.
THAT'S the problem , imo.
Get somebody in there who can hold some ground for a half a second more, and do the job.
Karty needs to be more like 3 steps quicker.

The video below compares Cam Little and Karty's timing. Most NFL kickers begin their approach when the ball is snapped. Karty waits until it's placed. The ball is placed at exactly the same time for both kickers, but when Little kicks the ball, Karty has barely even begun his approach, and he's three steps behind Little.

People want to blame the blocking up the middle, or on the edge, but the OL has to hold their blocks MUCH longer because Karty takes so long to get the kick off.

Karty vs Little

Thats on Karty for sure, but I blame Blackburn for not correcting that.

Clearly, Karty is well behind the pace, and Blackburn should have corrected this flaw long ago. That alone would probably be enough to fix this issue.
The protection though, still is in need of repair as well.
Someone is always getting rolled up front.

Like I mentioned in my post a few pages back showing his late windup, he didn't do that before this season. Or at least not as blatantly. He was moving with the snap up until this season for whatever reason. Go look at field goals he kicked last year and he's starting his kick when ball is snapped. It's really weird.

It's actually kinda nutty. Not sure what screwed him up, but it appears mental. This team is really good.... The last thing they need is to have to worry about a mental kicker.

Oh well, just score on every drive and go for 2!

Just to add here is one I mentioned from his game winner in week 3 of 2024. He could probably be moving even earlier here but he's half way through the motion when the ball touches ground.
