While the TD would’ve put us up by 9 with the extra point, by pulling up instead, we were allowed the 100% certainty to kneel and end it.

Why chance it? He could fumble going for it

Or he scores and then GB gets a TD, onside, and a chance

Huge long shot but why chance it?

There is only one stat.

I bet there's a lot of people pissed off because it would have covered the spread.

That's why I don't gamble. :D

Taking a knee guaranteed the win 100%

Scoring a td lets Green Bay have the ball back, possibly trailing by only 8

Gurley is an unselfish and smart player.
Did the same in his rookie year at Arizona.
Put the game on ice.

A TD would have put the Rams up by 8 with 58 seconds left. GZ was on fire today, but if we missed the extra point it would have remained an 8 point game. Also, they have Aaron Rodgers.

Gurley II taking the knee pretty much guaranteed victory (unless we somehow fumbled the kneel down but that's highly unlikely) and is a classier move imo.

Great awareness by Gurley.
The whole 'we not me' attitude right there.
Why score the TD and have to put the defence out there to secure the game.

Pretty simple:

100% chance to win if he goes down

vs

Less than 100% chance to win if he scores

Gurley embodies "We, Not Me." So happy to have him as a Ram.

It's pretty simple honestly, McVay told Jared in the headset to remind everyone to get down if they get the first down. He was doing what his coach asked.

Would he have gotten down without McVay passing that message along? Ehhh maybe because he did his rookie year, but now that I heard this I kind of think he wouldve tried to score. Having a chance at LTs record is a serious deal. Wish he would've scored and AD got his 3rd sack to end it.

ehh... I personally think he should have scored. its 99% win probability either way.

People are forgetting - what if we fumbled the snap on the next kneel down? It's unlikely but probably about the same chance as greg missing the extra point (97% from new distance career) PLUS the packers scoring a touch down in 30 secs with no timeouts.... plus getting the 2 pt conversion. The misconception is that it's "100% if he kneels down.. that's not true. Statistically its probably like 99.1 vs 99.7 or some shit. I'm not sure scoring the touchdown isn't actually the safer bet.

I like the sentiment of the action... but for all realistic purposes it didn't matter if he scored or not.

If it was a directive from McVay than he was doing what he was told.

But I'm with the poster above I want him to get the TD record...

I agree with your asemsment about neither action being 100% guaranteed victory but what about the injury risk putting the defense back on the field? Stopping short of the goal line is the smarter move
