Why Brycen Hopkins can’t be overlooked

He is the definition of a JAG, he didnt even receive a tender offer as an RFA and signed for close to league minimum. a 4th TE/special teamer is the exact definition.

Yeah Mundt regressed a bit last year tbh. I didn't expect him to do anything other than build on what he did in 2019 but even that was not the case. His run blocking was inconsistent and worse than the previous year which is probably why they knew they wouldn't have to tender him. Regression from low end guys is generally a sign that comes right before they're out of the league.

Re: Hopkins if they don't like anything about him or doubt him at all they will probably look for a TE. Because Stafford loves him some TEs. But ideally would be Hopkins beasting the F out of course and that's my hope.

I can only add to this my thought...if SM didn't have plans this season for BH, Zach Ertz would be a Ram right now. Or they would have found another TE in FA. This draft is not very strong at the TE spot. So I think they must feel they are better off with what they have than making a push to upgrade. Was reported "interest" in Ertz, but it wasn't something that looked like they were looking hard at him.

So they are showing me, by their actions, what they are thinking. Them's my thoughts. And Hi peeps! Long time!

You may be right there Redding. Only thing I'd say is you'd have to also consider what they think of Ertz's injury history. That likely factored in too, something like that can always keep you from making that type of move especially when a team like the Eagles is trying to hold out for a windfall with every player they trade lol.

Well there was little information out there on Hopkins.He has the tools imo. He has no Heart,like the wizard of OZ.
The Rams drafted J. Harris & that was basically the last calling of Bryce Hopkins.In OTA’s it didn’t take Harris long to take 1st. Team Reps at TE.
I was wondering about Higbee & knew something was up there at TE.The end of OTA’s is when Mcvay said something when ask about players & that position. Was weird
hearing say something negative,was liked Higbee is in the Dog House.

Went to Camp & Bryce Hopkins was not excited to be there. Was always sulking & down.

What I know is Johnny Mundt is solid,but Tyler Higbee will have a career best season.Blanton is the guy I’m wondering about.He made some nice catch across the middle.

I'm still holding out some sliver of hope for Hopkins. As exciting as Harris has been, we've only ever seen him play WR in college and WR in the preseason. He's a TE in name only at this point and the fact is that it'll be difficult for him to line up as an in-line TE when he's lighter than most of even the WRs in this league at his height.

And so if we call a spade a spade and Harris a WR, that still leaves space on the roster for Hopkins behind Higbee and Mundt for one more season and one last chance to make some positive noise. People seem to forget it took Higbee a while to turn into a decent player as well..

The offense line Anchrum did play & Brewer the year before.Shelton as well. —Brian Allen was the HATED one.
You always have hope.Bryce Hopkins is one of those guys that makes you scratch your head.Just like a lot of 1st rd picks you see talent,but what makes them tick.

I’m just a Fan(Ram) & I lit him up the other day about how he stinks,doesn’t care & why he was going to get cut. A lot of the team (coaches)heard it.He made 2 catches after that,but his head is not into it.
I believe something happened in the off-season??? Thought it was Higbee. HIGBEAST is FOR REAL. Top 10 TE if not Top 5 in that ELITE CLASS.

Yes we never know.Talked to a HAGS fan & I’m on Record with Gerald Everett having a breakout season in Seattle.The guy said that’s what he is hearing,but doesn’t trust it. Still on record with Goff being a better 1/2 QB.It wasn’t the Mcvay CHEAT w/ his

You really believe that ?? Move ahead and think if he was coming out in 2021. I think The Rams got good value with Hopkins. The Rams knew they could not keep Gerald Everett. He was stashed on the roster with 2021 in mind.
Mundt resigned,so I don’t know what The Rams think about drafting another TE in 2021 ? Blanton is a guy The Rams might like as well ? We can all make assumptions though. I think Phillips has a good idea about his upside.

April 27 so yeah The Harris pick us just The Rams making there roster better.

Blanton was one of Les Sneads TE development guys. Mcvay works it
with these UDRFA’s. Will he make the team over Hopkins.

LMAO - & first to do it on the game day thread. Bryce Hopkins first play on The Rams had Duck Hodges take a Time Out because he couldn’t line up straight. ITS NOT ALWAYS TALENT. We as Ram Fans can see it.
Players get better. Hopkins still(not really) has a chance to prove himself. He does somewhere else if he can ball out these next 2 preseason games.

Harris is a lock. Mundt appears so. Higbee is of course.

T Jackson certainly appears ahead of Hopkins based on what we saw Saturday.

No matter how I shuffle that, right now Hopkins is on the outside. Blanton may be ahead of him.

After watching him fail to get set right or noticeably be lost before the ball is even snapped multiple times in a preseason game I have no expectations of him making the team. He's had a year and a half to learn where the fuck he's supposed to be at and hasn't been trusted to be part of the offense and the first chance he gets is a mess. So I'm going to assume he's unreliable and unable to handle the mental side of the game. Hopefully he proves me wrong.
