As I recall, yes.

Also remember (could be wrong) Dallas had a bunch of its better players cross early.

Personally, I considered Joe Gibbs to be a terrific coach … HOWEVER … two of his three Lombardis came in the ‘82 and ‘87 strike years.

Yup and the funny thing about that is the Redskins' entire team of scrubs beat that Cowgirls' team who had 20 cross the line including starters Danny White, Dorsett, Randy White, and Too Tall. Washington's scrub QB was on a work furlough from prison for cocaine.
A 13-7 upset. :laugh4::laugh2:

Kyren faced the least amount of 8 man boxes in 2023. (Just saw this on Reddit. Most attribute it to the threat of Staff/Kupp/Puka.)

Probably because we’re so good at burning teams that don’t respect the play action

Fans today have no idea how great they have it when it comes to access to your favorite team. We were overjoyed getting a copy of the team program in the US mail. Tiny articles and pics in the newspaper were like treasures too. My how we've seen changes.
Boy, aint that the livin truth!
Before ESPN the only highlights were during halftime of Monday Night Football!!

ESPN was one of the greatest things to air in the 80s and they have shit the bed.

I remember being in a hospital bed in "I believe" 1982 or 1983 and just watching ESPN all night. It had a lot of repeat information during the night but was better than anything else on that late.

Edit - I also liked MTV and I can't even watch it for 5 minutes nowadays.

Being a Rams fan is one of the reasons I read 3 newspapers a day for 25 years. Just to get a little bit of news. I used to watch halftime Highlights for 1-2 freaking plays of my Rams.
Now come on, its not Marshal.
Its Eric Dickerson !
Watch the Jets DBs flail and fall trying to catch our 6' 3" 225 lb track star who decided to play football.
Rookie rushing record.
All time single season rushing record.
And the NFL playoff single game rushing record.

Sportscenter was the best
Would leave the tv on and it would replay the same show over and over
Prior to ESPN however I neglected to recall HBO's "Inside the NFL", that was a great way to possibly see some highlights of Rams games

I used to read our homeroom teachers sports page every morning to see how many yards Dickerson had because it wasn't always reported since I didn't get cable... so no ESPN back then for my family.

Never thought of knew that. 2 SB’s from the strike years egh? Guess that’s the year to focus on it! lol get some legit ass replacements?
He was already on the team, and after the Rams traded Dickerson, he had some big games as a scab. Still though, I think it was only 3-4 games as a scab, still had a pretty good season. Between relapses of course....
That’s right we was the dude we had on coke right?
I've told this story before here more than once through the years about my fandom for ED2105. But it's worth repeating.

The year he broke the All-Time Season Total for rushing yards record was really something for me. I was still in HS and now back in my place of birth- FL. There was no NFL Sunday Ticket back then so I couldn't watch every Ram game on TV. I would stay up till midnight on Sundays just to watch Burman on ESPN do a fast video clip recap of all the games. Then, on Mondays and Tuesdays I would buy multiple different newspapers to try and get any tiny piece of info possible from the Ram game in print. I'd buy the Orlando Sentinel and the Daytona Beach Journal on Mondays and the USA Today on Tuesdays just for the sports pages.

I never did this before or since, but after Dickerson set the NFL Rookie Rushing record the year before... I decided to keep track of his rushing stats for his sophomore year myself in a spiral notebook. I did it religiously and cross checked the stats with those 3 papers every single week of that season. That's the season he ran for 2105. My mom still has the notebook and keeps it for herself to this day because she had never seen me nerd out on something like that before. After going through a whole season writing it down by hand... it really was extra exciting for me when he broke the record. I never did any stat recording like that ever again. It was weird that I even did it in the first place. But it really added something special for me.

He was a one man Wrecking Crew. Everyone knew we were handing him the ball on the majority of our plays... and they still couldn't stop him. He even set the all time record that still stands today with the defenses absolutely selling out on him on almost every play. It was the closest thing that I've ever seen to a human being having real super powers.

I have one of his road (white) jerseys that was gifted to me by our Brudda @VegasRam framed and hanging across from my bar at home with a spotlight that shines right on it. VegasRam gave that beauty away right here on ROD... I was lucky enough to have many of the same favorite Ram players as he does... that's how he decided who to gift it to. I have one of ED's home jerseys that I wear to every game I attend in person.
Haha that’s awesome. Starting bid for the book $100.

Hahahahahahaaaaa. I wish. I've even tried to steal it away from her... and failed. Pops build her a walk-in safe.

I have pleaded with my mom for it for years. She also has possession of the big plaque her mom was awarded for being the best woman's HS basketball player in the State of North Carolina. She has secured much of my sis' college All American volleyball awards and I know she has the ice skate that my hockey playing younger brother managed to give himself a self inflicted slice that cut the full length of his forearm. They are priceless in her eyes. Nobody is going to get them from her.

Anyway... for her to keep that stupid spiral notebook I kept in her private collection tells you how much she knows it meant to me. She has some other items of mine that most people would consider to be actual meaningful things too... but I haven't asked her for any of those.

I dunno what the M in MTV stands for now, but it used to me MUSIC.

I’d say mediocre, but they’d need to improve 1000% to even approach mediocre

I had a very good friend who was a Redskins fan and loved talking shit about how good they were. My go-to response was, 'you have to hope for a strike'. I used to love going back and forth with him. Another I used was 'you have to hope the Bills or Broncos win the AFC'. During a 13 year span the AFC lost 13 consecutive SBs and 8 consecutive years inside that span Buffalo (4) and Denver (3) went to 7 Superbowls without a win. But IIRC, Gibbs is the only head coach to win Superbowls with multiple QBs.
