His numbers this year dispute that notion, so do his routes.
Not if you’re paying attention.
He’s barely a thought since his hot 2 game start.
In his last 8 full games,
15 catches on 27 targets for a measly 206 yards
He cant make contested catch, can’t be counted on for a chain mover and gets bumped off his routes.

Yeah.. 4 pi calls… one in Browns game was big.

He’s 75th in NFL in yards.. as a low usage guy. He doesn’t drop the ball.

Again.. plenty of weaknesses.. he’s been good and has contributed to wins.

And Demarcus is blowing him out of the water.

Just like I said, Robinson is a legit WR, Atwell sadly is nothing more than a gimmick at this point

That's easy... Isaac Bruce was 1A and Holt was 1B. They were both #1 receivers.
Kinda proves what I am saying. If there is a 1A and a 1B then that is a subdivision definition
which shows there is not actually definition of #1, #2 and #3 ... then is there a 1C?

Scouts, media, fans, coaches all have different ideas and then there are fans who have different ideas.

Oh… I can tell you my perception of it… it’s simply the importance of the guy.
Who’s the most indispensable guy?
I think that’s still Kupp.. but Puka has made a huge impact.
I don't know about that. I think Nacua is becoming the guy in front of our eyes. There's a transition going down. He was the WR1 to my eye tonight, the guy we went to when the chips are down.

Kupp had a rough game. That drop in the endzone I don't blame him for, but two years ago that's a TD. So I think he's suffering from missed time, injury, and all that. But also Nacua is just in great form and he's even more physical than Kupp is which is impressive.

If we're going to upset anyone in the playoffs I think Kupp needs to get himself into better form than what we saw tonight. And it looked like he had a stinger, btw, I realize that. Still he's not himself. He's not as quick. He's not as sure handed. So hopefully by the time we get into the playoffs (if we do) Kupp will be more himself.

All great points.

It's great to have BOTH of them!

By the way that's not to say things will stay that way. Kupp's the kind of guy who will probably come back next season on fire. But yeah it's a good problem. Just wish we'd get some speed at that last spot. Driving the field is a tough way to win in this league.

I hope they keep Robinson.. just a valuable guy..
And bring in a mid-late round burner.
Examples.. of course outlier, huge success examples.. Tank Dell and Demario Douglas.
I'd just like to avoid spending a premium pick.. but add more speed.

Jacob Cowing is a guy I've heard good things about.

If we had a guy like Shaheed as a WR 4… wow… a burner with some size. Tutu is too too small

Robinson has Stafford's trust which is a good sign they probably will offer him a 2 year extension. He shouldn't be expensive probably something like 2 years $5M. But yes I think they will draft a WR next year.

Kupp & Puka are WR1 & WR1B and I put Robinson ahead of Atwell right now because he's a better blocker & route runner. 2024 will be Tutu's contract year and right now he looks like a comp pick in the making after next year.

Kupp is dinged up and they will need him after the toilet game in DC. I wouldn't be surprised if they rested him for a couple of weeks. He could be in uniform but basically in reserve. Puka, Robinson & Atwell should be enough to beat DC.

It's a little silly not to acknowledge a number 1 WR.

Look no further then our Super Bowl final drive.

When the game is on the line, and you have to have it, the #1 guy is heavily targeted and heavily defended.

He is the guy that is best at getting open and making the big play despite position designation within the scheme.

It's a very real, and relevant factor in each game. Top WR's are schemed against all week.

Coordinators aim to shut them down. It can be a TE like Kelce, or even a back like Kamara that we shut down tonight, which was probably the biggest factor in our defense stopping the saints.

It does get murky when a team has multiple big time targets, such as the case with Kupp and Puka. Who is the #1? No one knows. Thus, the potency of our offense.

Coordinators don't only ask how the F or the Z will be covered within a formation and look. They also identify the go to players that are most heavily targeted on critical downs. Otherwise they are idiots.

Regarding Tutu, I think Robinson has proven he offers much more in terms of physicality and catch Radius among other things.

I agree with those that see Tutu best suited as a gadget player that can be a solid #4 WR. He has improved his stock this year but is not able to do some of the critical things Robinson has. Look at the TD pass today. Tutu doesn't have the length to make that catch.

Robinson was kicking ass back in camp this year but he had to get in line behind Tutu and Jefferson because the Rams had invested round 2 picks in both those players. This is the way it works. But after they finally had enough of Jefferson and after Tutu underwhelmed then got hurt Robinson has resumed kicking ass with timely TDs and separation.

So I don't understand this continued thinking that Tutu is the WR3. It's late December. We're in a playoff chase. Tutu is looking at significantly lesser snaps than Robinson and rightly so. And this offseason Tutu will be replaced.

For tonight and the rest of this run we are making for playoff glory I am thankful we have a savvy wideout now who knows when to scramble for the QB, who has good size, and who can separate in key moments. That's a real nice combo for a WR3, only reason he will move on after the season is because he doesn't add the long speed this offense needs so badly.
It would be nice to keep Robinson, there’s definitely a place for a savvy guy who can win contested catches. Kupp wasn’t on his A game and it was good to have someone step up.

What happened to all the short motion with Tutu early in the season?
They’ve been using motion in the run game quite a bit and if you’re going to use that guy to block it becomes a tell when Tutu is in motion.
