I see a lot of those so called experts have him sneaking higher and higher into the 1st round lately. Do we fall back to say Fields in the 2nd will he even last? Guys like Sarratt and Bernard seem to fall around our 2nd round pick. I've seen Bell everywhere from early 2nd to late 3rd and there's Ted Hurst too he is exciting plus a returner right? Man this just made things crazier.
Receivers are hard to slot too because it's about what role you want them for. So I think any of the players slotted into the 20s range could end up with a higher grade with the Rams if they have the mentality and personality fit for the locker room on top of filling a role the Rams want.

So the conversation I think hinges on what would they be looking for. My assumption is size outside the hash with catch radius because in today's league a lot of teams are playing bend but don't break approaches and games are being won/lost in redzone efficiency. If your offense can score TDs you're gonna win a lot of games. If that opponent can force you into FGs you're likely to drop games to good teams.

Maybe the Rams want speed though. And then you have the personalities and fit for the We Not Me philosophy. Lot of wideouts are prima donnas. So I think if a wideout is close or in that "bucket" as Les calls it, and he's a fit on the mentality side, a slight reach is ok.

I don't have time to do it right now but think it would be fun to analyze what the Rams have done at X historically under McVay. I would argue that we do have a "type" with him and while that doesn't mean we go in that direction again, I do think it's helpful to look at receivers we might not be as high on as others in this draft.

That type mind you is not typically a "size" X over an "agile cutter on breaks and speed X," guys who are far more likely to get to a spot on the field vs throwing the ball up and let them body guys to get it.

Also, interestingly, we do have a size X on the team right now who can play there in spots. Fergy.

X role wideouts are hard to find. They generally must be taken early in drafts because of supply and demand. There simply are not enough big wideouts who have the traits required for the role. And the Rams simply have not drafted high enough to be able to find one of them. This does not mean that McVay has some philosophy that is opposed to a legitimate X wideout.

Also Ferg is not an X role option. Where he intersects with that X role is he will compete with the WR3 on our depth chart for snaps vs a given defense. So the better he becomes the better the offense will be in terms of options to add his size and hands to the equation. But it needs to be understood that he's no X. There is a significant difference in the two. Also if he can win the primary TE role this season he will get the snaps regardless. Hope he can do that but we'll see.

Closest thing we have to a real X right now is Adams but he's getting up there in age and he will probably be gone after this season. So there is a legitimate need for the Rams to add that element to the offense. And for 2026 if they do add that element that player will probably get a lot of looks vs the TE group, certainly enough to be felt in the redzone or 4 minute situations.

Good thing is there are a lot of options in this class. I like the options at the top a lot more, but there are some I think may end up being good pros into let's say late round 2 to round 3 range. We'll see how it shakes out though.

Well my vote after today's trade is to move 13 into the mid 20s for as much draft capital as we can get. I'd take Omar, but Sadiq may be there, and other WRs...

The issue is who's trading up and for what? And if you trade down from 13 you aren't getting Sadiq hell we might not get him at 13.

One of the worst lines ever is "there are only X amount of 1st round graded players" and those people are out parroting that there aren't a lot of 1st round players in this draft so I can't see with that line of though that people want to trade up in the 1st.

It would be player specific. I could see an OL needy team like the Lions ir Texans wanting to get one of the top OL that should be there at 13
