Picked Gaskin. We're going to see him on third down more because of his pass-catching ability (best amongst our backs, in my opinion) and he could get opportunities in the running game as well.

I'm not saying Zach Evans can't contribute. That remains to be seen...but the guy looked very tentative when he got in the game last week. He didn't "hit the hole" like Williams and Rivers did. Perhaps that was due to lack of playing time. He's had this week to really get acclimated into the offense, so he may surprise...and that would be great.

That's why I took Hendo...that guy has "been there...done that" with the Rams. I simply want a Rams win!!! Over anything else...

THAT MAKES ME HAPPY!!!

Who do I think?
- Freeman
Who do I want?
- Evans
Who's the dark horse to break a long run and do nothing else?
- Hendo (who's not even in game shape, hasn't been on a roster)

I think Henderson starts and Evans gets situational carries. How many snaps Evans gets depends upon 1. how well Henderson plays and 2. how well Evans plays.

If Henderson plays well that will probably keep Evans on the bench except for occasional rotational duties.

People can't go by Evan's carries last week. He was simply told to run straight into the pile and kill the clock.

I personally don't care. Just hoping for a commitment to the running game that leads to a win.

Gaskin has been in Vikings system which is similar to the Rams but it’s likely he needs a little more time getting the playbook down before they use him. Maybe he gets some opportunities on special teams for now.

That's fair, but unless we elevate Henderson from the practice squad for the game, I don't think he sees a lot of time (remember, he's not been on a roster since he got cut from Jacksonville), and I don't think McVay puts Evans on the field a lot either. I think it'll be Gaskin or Freeman who earns the most yards. The Vikings system is similar enough to ours that Gaskin could earn time, and he's probably one of the more talented pass-catching backs we've had since Gurley; Gaskin's a natural at it, and he's a solid enough pass-blocker for his size to earn reps.

Zach Evans: "Look, buddy, the only reason I looked 'very tentative' was because there was no holes. We had the lead, and the Redbirds knew we were going to run the pigskin and eat clock so they loaded up the LOS against me, leaving me with no place to go. Hence, I 'looked' tentative.

This weekend I probably start or will at least get into the game early on when the Steel Curtain isn't sure whether Mr. Stafford is gonna hand off or toss the rock. Master Donald has assured me that if I am too sloppy with the pigskin he is gonna skin me alive! in front of the the entire team; so you see, I now possess both inspired motivation and proper respect for my teammates and the coaching staff. I expect to do well come Sunday afternoon, 'yall."

I really struggled thinking through this today, even before this thread.

Kyren is my fantasy RB and now going on my IR. I could only pick 1 Rams RB off waivers, since I don't have any bench room.

I think Evans can either explode running or really screw things up. I think he has a short leash vs Pitts and don't see Mcvay trusting him quite yet.

Mcvay trusts Hendo and probably Freeman as well. Gaskins is to new to the Rams system and concepts.

Something tells me it's going to be Hendo, because he offers a bit more big play then Freeman.

The carries may be split vs Pitts, but I would expect Hendo with a bigger role after this week.

So, I picked Hendo up and stashed him on my bench for now.

If Evans has some break out runs I can see him as the early down back and Hendo as the pass pro, 3rd down back.

I got Hendo! The word is he hasn't been idle...but working out and staying in shape. He understands the offense. He can do it all! I think he's better at catching out of the backfield that any of them.
Being "in shape" isn't the same as being in game shape. You cannot really simulate the pounding one absorbs in a live game just by ordinary workouts. Hendo is not game tough yet.

Shefty has sources that say it will be Freeman and Hendo, with Evans backing them up. Says Gaskin "likely" won't be active until next week.

Schefter also said KW has a "high" ankle sprain, first I've heard anyone claim that it wasn't a "regular" sprain.

Guess we'll find out tomorrow if Shefty's sources are reliable.

Unfortunately what I saw of Evans in preseason was unimpressive. I thought both Rivers and Freeman showed a lot more "pop" and ferocity in their runs.

Hope I'm wrong on Evans, but I thought he could use another year of seasoning. We'll see how it goes the next 4 games without KW and RR.

It would make sense. It is not wise to throw the rookie to the professional wolves too soon. Besides, Sean isn't about to wildly bet his Comeback Maestro's life on the blocking of an unprepared rook. He knows Matthew's wife will go berserk, and Veronica will probably let him have it too, besides his players and coaching staff.

He needs to continue to let this so very 'yote-ful' team grow throughout the remainder of the season with Matthew at the helm of the U.S.S. Horns, and Aaron and Cooper in supportive leadership roles, for this team to have a legitimate chance of post season prime time play.
