Stafford/Wolford
Akers/Hendo/Funk
Kupp/Woods/DJax/Tutu/VJ/Sko
Higbee/Hopkins/Mundt/Harris
Whit/Edwards/Corbett/Evans/Hav/Noteboom/Anchrum

AD/SJD/Robinson/Gaines/Brown/Brown
Kiser/Jones
Floyd/Hollins/Lewis/Obo/Garrett
Ramsey/Williams/Long/Rochell
Burgess/Fuller/Rapp/Scott

Gay/Hekker/LS

IMO all these guys are going to make the team - that's 46 out of 53; returning vets we'll have:

QB: not worth mentioning, even if someone beat out Wolford, still just keeping one backup
RB: Jones vs. Campbell vs. UDFA - one spot most likely
WR: not worth mentioning, it's done
TE: IMO we keep Mundt for sure because Hopkins is a question mark
OL: Allen vs. Shelton vs. Demby vs. Brewer for ? spots - probably 2? Maybe 3

DL: it's done - the PS squad guys will return to the PS or get snatched up
ILB: Howard vs. Young vs. Reeder vs. Rozeboom for 2-3 spots
DB: Deayon vs. UDFAs vs. everyone else - to try to steal 1 spot?

My best guess at the 7:

Campbell - either way we will almost certainly keep one RB
Shelton
Brewer
Howard
Young
Reeder
Deayon

Vets cut:

Allen
Demby
Xavier Jones

OR - if Long separates himself, we could keep Allen and put Deayon on the PS again - but given the uncertainty at CB, I think keeping 5 would be smart.

Gaines is staying. Been watching him a long time and he is the best IDL player on the team at the moment. SJD makes more sense to drop as his pay has to go up since he accrued enough snaps for heavy bonuses to kick in pushing his salary to 2 million or so. He's now a cap hit and not near as good as Gaines inside. Why he's been ahead of Gaines I have no idea. Just have to see how the rooks pan out. I think we see more of Gaines this season. He made plays every time he stepped on the field.

He's only been a PS player though so stay where? Lol

So what do you like about the play from him that you've seen?
I haven't seen anything from it at all when He's been in.

Even on the PS. He's not worth the spot.

I got a feeling there will be more than a few current players that don't make the final roster. McSnead's draft valued speed and ST.
Who goes to make room for draftees they want to keep?

Webster, Young and look expendable. Who else?

A good but difficult question to ask on 05/20/2021.

I agree that Webster & Young look expendable for the younger and cheaper players close to their talent level.

Nobody gets the final 53 man roster correct the following year.

Even after the preseason ends and the media hype analysis of what players stood out, there is always a few players that look like virtual locks but they end up being released.

This year will likely be no different and there will be some favorite players based on preseason performance and practice notes that get cut.

Many of us will be scratching our heads wondering how and why did a few of these players beat out the others?

I was just laughing at the "how can he stay" comment. You have to actually be on the team in the first place in order to stay there. I agree he's awful

Even for the practice squad.

I just never could see, why he couldn't be replaced by someone that's just a "little" better.

Aaron Donald laughs at the bolded.

As for Sebastian Joseph-Day, he was our second best interior lineman, not Gaines. He deserved his starting spot. I'm not saying that in a Gaines vs. SJD way; they both have their own strengths, and both deserve a spot on the roster. I easily see us keeping six defensive linemen. We did that last year; we can do it again this year.

Inside. NT. AD is a bit more of a DE in reality. I want comparing anyone to him.

I dunno... SJD seemed a lot more impressive than Gaines last year.

Blythe!!!

LOL

It'll get old at some point, but not yet.
Blythe was not pure junk.
He just would get occasionally overpowered in pass protection.
Particularly in that Green Bay game.
However, I don't recall him getting called for a penalty but he may have.
Certainly no penalty that ever cost us a game, (but correct me if I'm wrong).
I don't recall a bad exchange.
He hiked very well out of the shotgun.
His run-blocking wasn't that bad.
He knew the line calls and the snap count.

We could have done worse at Center for sure, (see Scott Wells) but I always think you should upgrade the weakest link in a offensive line.

That was Blythe.

Demby used to be our starter for a game at Guard due to injury.
He was on the 53 and a game-day active for about six games.

The problem with Demby is we've spent a Draft pick on him and he's prototype size so it'd be nice if he would have developed out.

It's really hard to decipher how much of Goff's inability to step up in the pocket and deliver a ball down the field had to do with the pocket or Goff. As a Goff fan, I like to make excuses for him. Now that they're both gone it's no longer an issue. As they say, a big part of pass protection is on the QB. Luckily, our new QB is an entirely different species altogether.
