Rams can fix em. EACH of em.

(Just like we fixed Stafford)
OK but my point is that winning teams, with top-tier veteran QBs on big-$ / cap-eating contracts, will rarely trade those quarterbacks. That would be the Ravens/Jackson and Chargers/Herbert.

However, losing teams, with top-tier veteran QBs on big-$ / cap-eating contracts, might be willing to consider a change ... especially if the veteran-QB requests a trade ... one more non-playoff season, and the Bengals and Burrow (who will be thirty by then), would qualify under those parameters.

I think Josh Allen hit his window already. He can't keep playing the same way and will be okay staying more in the pocket. Big question is how much does Stafford want to keep playing. MVP probably. Not in the top 10 of QB money. I think the "money" talk becomes a thing in the next month or so

Give me Josh Allen on this Rams team and watch as we win 2 Super Bowls in the next 5-7 years.

I wasn't aware this year's draft had already occurred. Verse was our only 1st we've kept in 9 years. Ferguson was our first pick last year after trading our 1st yet again. I agree that it's pretty unlikely we don't draft at least one player in the first this year but it's not a given that we hold onto both of them.
There was a sea change with Snead and McVay and those first round picks, coming out of our "fuck them picks" window that ended in the title in '21. A rather clear change in approach where prior they would use those picks at trade deadlines or prior to the draft for big name players. Whereas now they seem to place more value in the picks.

Trading down out of round 1 is still valuing picks. You're still accruing more picks, more shots at young cost controlled talent, not fewer.

I’m not sold on the only path to win a SB is a top QB. Even more so now with salaries so crazy - paying >$50M to a QB limits the team. The dude must be truly amazing. That’s not the case with most of the top paid QBs.
Find a young guy who McVay likes and can work with - and stack the team around him.

Sorry - but you specifically stated 1st round picks and that was all to which I was referring. I realize we have shifted from "fuck them picks" but it hasn't morphed into keeping all our 1st round picks. We've still only used one 1st rounder since that championship season.
It's a valid point. Especially since we have been keeping our first round picks of late.
This was all I was replying to. And being that we even traded away our most recent 1st rounder... well... it doesn't exactly strike me as "keeping our first round picks of late".

Regardless, I don't see us trading away our 1st rounders this year unless we can somehow get more draft capital for the future or move up with the addition of some of our lower picks. We already have what? 10 picks? I'm guessing we draft somewhere in the 1st round and possibly twice and that we likely use at least 7 or 8 picks in this draft.

That is certainly not a "fuck them picks" strategy but I also would not be surprised if we only end up using one of our first rounders.

6'2", 185lbs is skinny... ball hawk in college... based on that highlight tape, he reminders me of a taller Emmanuel Forbes.... I wouldn't mind a flyer on him in round 3 or 4.
Been looking at guys who supposedly can play some deep middle, because I think a ballhawk back there remains a problem for this defense. I think Clark made himself a lot of money this week in the Senior Bowl (definitely a safety btw), also when you watch the one on one drills he usually has like 4 or 5 reps while some of the others only have 1. So he came in there hungry as hell and it paid off.

Looks like this thread has morphed from QB to a full blown NFL Draft thread.

Should I stop using the Draft forum and post content here?

Nuss got some protections today and looked good. Also his arm strength was there. I'm a little leery about his arm but him showing well is good for us. Maybe someone gets desperate at some point and pushes another player down to us.

Just bite the bullet and sign Malik Willis. Hope Stafford returns for one more year, Willis learns from he and McVay for that year, and 2027 is full speed ahead. Need to draft DB, edge, and SPEED on offense. Salary cap for 2027 is projected to be near $175M for the Rams. Free Agents would LOVE to play here. Willis is accurate, smart AND MOBILE. Everything Snead has wanted.
I've been thinking how good this might be. Although Willis will get starting offers and thus higher pay, we should pay him like Jimmy G next season to be our back up, then pay him starter money the year after. A year sitting under Stafford should do the young man well. Not to mention, playing in a McVay system with Puka and sky is the limit. This might be my favorite off season scenario.
Jackson had enjoyed Team-success up until last year.

Herbert has had Team-success the past two years.

Burrow ... ? ... not so much ... No playoffs for three staring seasons ... one more in 2026 would make four
Are we forgetting the Super bowl Burrow played in against us? Honestly, with a D like that, its tough to get into the playoffs. I blame ownership. He'd have it MUCH better here.

He looked good. My issue with him is upside. He's on the smaller side of things (6'1" 205), he has an arm that is good enough but not elite, and he does not have a lot of mobility. (He also has small hands.)

Cole Payton is intriguing. He's a project. Definitely not ready to start next year. But his athleticism showed up today, he has plenty of arm, and he has plenty of size (6'2+" 230). On Day 3, I'd give him some consideration.

To me he looked pretty good for him but I still come back to him not looking like a starter in the league. He looks like the next Chase Daniels a guy who can stick as a backup for a long time and you're not devastated if he has to start a couple games.
